Correct pattern during Fantasyland rope drop is Pan, Alice, Dumbo, Toad, then Snow/Pinocchio or Matterhorn. Goal is to be in Toontown by 845. Then Chip. Roger, and Railway
Interesting. Can those all really be done by 8:45? Please excuse my ignorance, I'm a foreigner from another state who's only been there four or five times, but I'm bringing a large family group next year so this is great information.
We rope dropped Fantasyland on Father's Day. Went on all the rides in 45 minutes. We then went on Space Mountain 3 times in an hour (standby twice and Lightning Lane).
I always hit Pan first, followed by as many Fantasyland land rides as possible during the rope drop window. I pay for G+ so don't really need to rope drop the thrill rides. Plus, I like to "build up" to the bigger rides as the day goes. It feels a little weird to go on space right after waking up and then go from that to Alice.
I love finishing a busy evening shift, opening UA-cam when I get home and thinking, "hmmmm, is there a new Fresh Baked video up?" And yes, yes there is. I should be going to bed, but I'd rather be watching Fresh Baked!😁
Even with magic morning this method still works, our family of three hits up fantasyland on our first early entry to disneyland, then the rest of the day we can somewhat relax and pick and choose. It is nice that Disneyland is going back to switching what park is magic morning, now if we could get the full hour back that would be great!!
Thank you , appreciate you doing this at rope drop for families with kids even if in my case it’t a 76 year old with a 47 year old “kid”. We so enjoy your videos and they leave us so psyched for Disneyland that we got a 5 day ticket with plans for arrival evening and three mornings at Disneyland and one at California adventure. We hope with this much time we won’t be stressed and can try to approach you joyful attitude. Wish us luck.
Our family rope dropped this same day. We saw you at the entrance. We were taking your advice at picking the right line by the tree. Our line was utilizing three turnstiles much to your disgust as your line was using one! Thanks for the tip!
I can remember watching one of your videos, I think it was possibly the first day Disneyland reopened after the pandemic, with all the CMs waving and greeting guests down Main Street. I sobbed my eyes out!!
Love this! Unfortunately I can’t use this strategy when I go in September because I have to plan our days around the oogie boogie days and early DCA closures. I bet the dark rides would’ve been faster had Alice been open and drew guests into that queue too!
Hey David, I noticed at 23:15ish you said the time was 9:59am but a few minutes later you state that it was 9:13am, I didn't know you had a time machine in your pocket, lol.
We'll be there in a month or so and we want to start with this route on our first day. Pan then alice and then toontown and then adventureland. Will it eat up too much time to take the Train from Toontown to Adventure Land?
Yep we stopped for coffee at Starbucks and ended up in the “2nd” wave of people in the queue. There was no savings from rope drop. We moved on to mickey and Minnie and then Roger rabbit, followed by space mountain and then Matterhorn. Look at the queues before ya stick to the plan 😁
with all the recent rain in California over the last month or two I'm begining to think you in Florida and at Disney World. where it rains a lot and is hurricane weather.........I grew up and lived in Calif for 40 years and I never seen so much rain in Calif....yes it did rain but once in a while...and not so many days in a row.........
Oh rats!!! Was this last Wednesday, the 21st?! I WAS THERE from 9 am to 10 p.m. So sad I missed you!! Hope to get to meet you someday. If it was that day, turned out to be a lovely day, weather-wise. We wanted to go on Peter Pan but every time we checked, the wait time was way too long.
We rope dropped Dumbo and best decision ever…I hate waiting in that line and my daughter isn’t a huge fan of the Peter Pan ride😂 we were able to do dumbo, Alice, teacups, Roger rabbit, and Mickey and Minnie’s all by 9:10, just in time to grab a breakfast chimichanga and sit by the river😆 this was the Friday Presidents’ Day weekend.
YO! I was there feb 10-16 and I managed 1st in line at peter twice. I believe the key those days was hotel guests having early entry at DCA.* The 12th we rope dropped only to find a closed peter pan with cast telling us to check back "later today." We stood at that rope for 5 min and next thing we know: first ship sailing. We next tried alice which broke down while we were in line so we did storybook, had pics with ariel, did runaway railway, had cafe daisy, rode space mountain (which shut down just as we pulled into port), went to big thunder next which broke down as we stood next in line to board. This was all before 10:30. Weird morning but would have been fruitful otherwise. 2 days later we were 1st in line @ peter again. My husband and I then did snow white's, pinocchio's, alice, mad tea party, space mountain twice, had ronto roasters, then went on runaway railway and roger rabbit ALL before our 10:30 at oga's. Either it wasn't a fluke or I'm like extraordinary at rope dropping. Maybe both. *Oh the other key is when they let you go at rope drop literally launch into a butt clenched mall POWER walk. Everyone behind you will be laughing but they'll be doing so in your (pixie) dust!
Years ago we had an early entry to Fantasyland, but Peter Pan had already filled up, so we ended up going to the back of the land, were practically the only guests on Small World, Dumbo, Casey Jr., Teacups, etc. and then by the time we wound our way back to the front, everything was about as clear as it was ever going to be.
I think rope dropping fantasyland is a good idea for people who buy lightning Lane and are trying to do as much of the park as they can in one day. It's impossible to do the whole park in one day. And they don't plan on riding the lightning Lane rides more than once. So not fantasyland out in an hour and do any other rides that don't have lightning lane early then start hitting your lightning lanes and lining up the return times for later. And it was awesome to meet you! I'm sorry I'm the most awkward person on the planet. 😅
Rope drop video! Rope drop video! Whee! Very, very useful information. Avoid hotel early entry days, have 4-6 rides planned to hit, get Resistance 9-9:30 a.m. or ILL. I would hvae been curious to see Smugglers stand-by line time at 10 a.m. Also nice work posting a graphic of the time in the video. That is always helpful.
What I did for Mickey and Minnie’s last time that also worked well was I did fireworks at small world and then they do a rope drop for toontowns reopen after the fireworks and that worked really well
I mentally factor in the time spent waiting at rope drop as part of the wait for the first ride. Helps me decide how early is worth it, usually show up a couple mins before drop now.
I didn't read all the comments - but how can you find out which park has the early entry? So, we can make a reservation for the other park?? watched the rest of the Video - I see that Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday for Disneyland.
thanks for this video! in march i’m going to get genie+ so my plan is to rope drop fantasyland (peter pan, alice, snow white) then rotr. i’ll snag the rest throughout the day with ll. i may also get my first ll for indiana jones because it’s often not functional in the morning so i’ll get an extra pass. and if it’s open, bonus! 😄
Perhaps having fewer uniformed CMs is a cost cutting measure. After all, Disney pays for the time it takes a CM to change into uniform plus the cost of the uniforms, cleaning them, etc.
Excellent work as always, Dave! Next time you rope drop Fantasyland, I'd love to see you start with Alice and see how your day goes. I've had success in the past starting with it and then following up with a bit of a loop hitting Toad, Snow, Pinocchio and Casey Jr (if the queue isn't too bad) From there we'll either hit Matterhorn or Big Thunder but we haven't been back since they opened Runaway Railway I'd love to see how a trip to ToonTown slots into that spot.
I wonder if doing the your normal strategy following Peter Pan would be a good option. Essentially just replacing Space Mountain with Peter Pan and then doing Matterhorn, Thunder, then Rise. I bet then you could jump into some other rides in the area and have knocked out some big waits
I have two kids, age 2 and 5. When we rope drop we go Astro Orbiter, Dumbo, Cassy Jr., Tea Cups and then a potty break around 9am followed by It's a Small World.
I’m planning on using your strategy in July. Do you know where to park a stroller as I’ll have one alone with my kid (can’t leave a partner with the kid in line). Where is stroller parking for Peter Pan? Thanks any input is appreciated.
Aloha Dave..did you trease us with almost putting out a video about contruction because I swear earlier today i caught a glimpse of it...then it was gone....it looked interesting...of course..well see it tomorrow..
the fact that any person could basically walk into the line for pirates and wait 20-30 minutes max before lightning lane was added, but now the queue looks like that, just reinforces my disdain for the line skipping system overall. I went during the second week of November 2021. the old fast pass system was out, but they didn't have genie plus up and running again...went on every ride in the park and never waited more than 40 min in line-that was for space mountain and rise. it was the best trip to the park I'd had since I was a teenager and there was no fast pass.
FreshBaked. David, Long lines waiting for attractions have alway's been a Disneyland problem. Walt said in 1965, " Big long lines bug me. People standing in lines aren't having fun." Cheer's Chris Perry.
Love Disneyland, but as a Nevada resident going there and buying a crazy pricey daily ticket and having to stress out about the lines of each ride is just not worth the $$$ anymore. Great if you are a local and have a "season's pass" I guess.
Question for anyone out there - if you are staying on Disney property and have access to early entry, is it a better idea to not utilize the early entry and rope drop the park that doesn’t have early entry? Trying to decide which is a better strategy! I haven’t watched the entire video yet, maybe he talks about it.
Is there any difference between Mondays and Wednesdays? I’ve heard Monday is busier - but our Wednesday has an event at night in DCA, so I’m wondering if Disney will be busier Wednesday morning. Thanks!
How does a family with a stroller successfully rope drop? Meaning, if we are in the front of the rope drop crowd, how do we avoid having everyone get ahead of us in the ride queue while we are parking the stroller? We will be going with our 1yo and curious if having to deal with finding a place to put it will cost us the chance to avoid long wait times in the morning.
This was us last week! we were near the front of the rope drop line, but finding stroller parking further in near the carousel meant ~20-25 min wait, (got in line about 8:05 after parking). We didn't really know where to go, and the end of the queue had wrapped back toward the carousel and was outside the ropes, but the interior roped off queue was just being opened/filled so it wasn't a "full" queue, if that makes sense. But for us we were happy with the wait because it was the last day of our trip, and checking times the prior days the wait had always been 40-55min, it was a crowded time to go! But the line moved quickly and it was great! Maybe could try one person running the stroller to parking while everyone else holds a space, if they are still outside the ropes.
For Fantasyland Rope drop strategy, I prefer going the Matterhorn path and doing Alice first, then Matterhorn, then Canal Boats before peeking inside the courtyard dark rides. Otherwise Alice itself is a 35-45 minute queue most of the day as well.
You were right David. I was a one of those people that always rope dropped Rise of the Resistance. You said it was a bad idea but it had always worked for me. Then a couple trips ago Rise was broken. It messed everything up. Ended up waiting too long for Smugglers Run because it was close by and only got a few rides in before 10am. The next time we tried your Space Mountain strategy and it worked perfectly. We did Space, Matterhorn,Big Thunder, and were walking off Rise by 9:30am. Sorry for doubting you.
so sad about early entry being seriously limited now... it was great when it was an hour... then 30 mins was justifiable just for fantasy land but now only a couple limited days a week it just makes it much less valuable. We always did as much of fantasy land during early entry and then did toon town around 8:00am and never went back for the rest of the day. Was totally worth doing
You know, I don't watch this type of thing 'cause I want to know the rope drop strategy, but to enjoy the ride, especially Peter Pan. Very cool. I have a crazy idea, though. I really enjoy coming in to the park via the Monorail. Is it possible to use that entry method to get to Toontown quickly? Anyway, thanks for the nice ride experience. "Donald duct tape..." (snicker) You know, Mickey's Runaway Railway doesn't really impress me, but I think I'd enjoy going just to see the stuff in the queue. And here's another crazy idea. Why is the Peter Pan ride so popular and so worth it? Maybe they should replicate that somehow!
When and why did Peter Pan’s Flight become so insanely popular. I’ve been to DLand many times over the last 40 years and can’t recall that ride being as popular as it has been in recent years. It’s an endearing ride but then so are most of the other Fantasyland rides 🤔🤷♂️
Being a Disney Park visitor since the 70s the worst thing to happen to the parks especially at wdw was any kind of fastpass. It totally ruined the smooth flow of the lines and ability to look and guage the waiting times. At least Disneyland hasn't screwed up every line..yet $$$$$
Having both the Haunted Mansion and Tiana's Adventure under construction does not help when considering the eye-opening wait time for Pirates. It's not a proper test of LL. If DL keeps Pirates LL after the constructions are completed (which I don't think they will) then check, I bet it will be much lower standby times. But for now, it's overwhelmed with guests. I hope they only made it LL because of those closures.
Those are people that couldn’t make it in time for Peter Pan. They looked over there and said yeah let’s do snow White instead so now they’re over in Snow White and that’s how come it looks full.
Rope dropping Dumbo really early can be beneficial too. That queue gets long and is brutal. I would recommend Peter Pan, Alice, and Dumbo; and do Snow White, Toads, and Pinocchio later.
The thing is, there is no better way to start your day (any day) than with Peter Pan.
Love seeing the CM’s greet guests on Main Street
Correct pattern during Fantasyland rope drop is Pan, Alice, Dumbo, Toad, then Snow/Pinocchio or Matterhorn. Goal is to be in Toontown by 845. Then Chip. Roger, and Railway
Yes!! Then i would hit adventureland(indy) then pirates then HM then Thunder. It would be 10:10am by then. Perfect day.
We do Pan, Alice, Dumbo first after that it doesn’t seem to matter much.
Interesting. Can those all really be done by 8:45? Please excuse my ignorance, I'm a foreigner from another state who's only been there four or five times, but I'm bringing a large family group next year so this is great information.
My family and I love doing Peter Pan at 11:50ish PM. If there’s a wait you still get to ride past 12AM. 😎
We rope dropped Fantasyland on Father's Day. Went on all the rides in 45 minutes. We then went on Space Mountain 3 times in an hour (standby twice and Lightning Lane).
Ok I love this idea!
We were there in Father’s Day last year too. It was DEAD!

Yes! I watch his vids while putting my makeup on every morning. He is a daily event ❤
In sept I stayed at onsite hotel and was the first person on Peter Pan in the morning!
I love rope drop strategies. I have no plan on going to Disneyland anytime soon but love these videos.
Even with magic morning this method still works, our family of three hits up fantasyland on our first early entry to disneyland, then the rest of the day we can somewhat relax and pick and choose. 21:54 My, how Radiator Spring Racers has changed! ;)
Love the show as always, David!!!

So happy to see you ride some rides. And knocking those 4 off in the first hour is a big win in my book
Yes we always run to Peter at rope drop. Then we do Toads, Alice, Snow and one other item in there. I've done 5 rides in the first 30 min before.
I love rope drop! It was really cool seeing cast members line Main Street ❤️
David and Freshbaked! - The industry leaders in Queue Research and Construction videos!
Love this! Unfortunately I can’t use this strategy when I go in September because I have to plan our days around the oogie boogie days and early DCA closures.
I bet the dark rides would’ve been faster had Alice been open and drew guests into that queue too!
Really appreciated the trip to MMRR and then Rise as I wondered how it would be at those times! Thanks for sharing
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!
David is so consistant as a joyous voice about how good Disneyland is, that Im in the park with each video!
Hey David, I noticed at 23:15ish you said the time was 9:59am but a few minutes later you state that it was 9:13am, I didn't know you had a time machine in your pocket, lol.
Casey Jones?? Lol. I wasn't aware that was Casey Jr.'s last name. 😅
He might be a Grateful Dead fan.
Love ❤️ the cast member Main Street greeting! 🙌
We'll be there in a month or so and we want to start with this route on our first day. Pan then alice and then toontown and then adventureland. Will it eat up too much time to take the Train from Toontown to Adventure Land?
Thank you for the rope drop videos!
Any suggestions on where to park a stroller if you plan on rope dropping Pan/Fantasyland?
Yep we stopped for coffee at Starbucks and ended up in the “2nd” wave of people in the queue. There was no savings from rope drop. We moved on to mickey and Minnie and then Roger rabbit, followed by space mountain and then Matterhorn. Look at the queues before ya stick to the plan 😁
I love these kind of videos. Thank you!
Thanks for the daily videos. Really enjoy keeping up with the park.
This is the video I’ve needed! Thank you! ❤

Love this type of video so much! I appreciate the time stamps and time waited in your reports! I am a Disney queue stats nerd too!
Love the strategy videos 🎉
Love seeing the greeting down Main St!! Plain clothes should all be non union Managers and higher. Nice touch guys!! ❤

Looks very busy for a rainy day in February.

I'm sure that you are utterly delightful.
I love the way you give information on DL rides. In the background noise, there sure was a lot of kiddos crying and it was early in the AM. 😏
Get into park hour before open. That means through security and at the rope. Then go go go.
Thanks for this video Fresh Baked!

I ride Peter at night as the last ride. Fantasyland at night when all the rides are a walk one beautiful 🥰🪄

Your smile is looking fabulous!!❤ I hope 60min is not the new normal for pirates.
FreshBaked. David, Long lines waiting for attractions have alway's been a Disneyland problem. Walt said in 1965, " Big long lines bug me. People standing in lines aren't having fun." Cheer's Chris Perry.
For rope drop, what time do you recommend someone to be in the parking lot?
Good ride to rope drop to!
Great video, as always, David! Any tips for catching Peter Pan when they reopen Fantasyland after fireworks?
Curious... would rope drop by way of the Wishing well to Pan cut time?
Great smile! ✨ 🧚🏽♀️
Is it worth park hopping if you rope drop either park if you have multiple day tickets ?
Love Disneyland, but as a Nevada resident going there and buying a crazy pricey daily ticket and having to stress out about the lines of each ride is just not worth the $$$ anymore. Great if you are a local and have a "season's pass" I guess.
Hi freshbaked when will you be showing the Pixar place hotle now that it is done
What time do you recommend getting to the park for rope drop? An hour before?
Last few weeks David has developed the yips on the outro 😂

Trying to decide which is a better strategy! I haven’t watched the entire video yet, maybe he talks about it.
If you time it right, about an hour after rope drop, there is a dip in the rise wait as the rope droppers finish up. At least at WDW
Is there any difference between Mondays and Wednesdays? I’ve heard Monday is busier - but our Wednesday has an event at night in DCA, so I’m wondering if Disney will be busier Wednesday morning. Thanks!
Can you please do a rope drop with Genie Pass? Or Early Entry with Genie Pass?

You were right David. I was a one of those people that always rope dropped Rise of the Resistance. You said it was a bad idea but it had always worked for me. Then a couple trips ago Rise was broken. And here's another crazy idea. Why is the Peter Pan ride so popular and so worth it? Maybe they should replicate that somehow!
They would pay a lot for that scary cloud 😊
In the good old days you'd knock over the whole of Fantasyland in 30mins... Only wait was a short one for Peter Pan
I love that ride
When and why did Peter Pan’s Flight become so insanely popular. I’ve been to DLand many times over the last 40 years and can’t recall that ride being as popular as it has been in recent years. It’s an endearing ride but then so are most of the other Fantasyland rides 🤔🤷♂️
I think it's the nostalgia and the difference in the track.
Being a Disney Park visitor since the 70s the worst thing to happen to the parks especially at wdw was any kind of fastpass. It totally ruined the smooth flow of the lines and ability to look and guage the waiting times. At least Disneyland hasn't screwed up every line..yet $$$$$
I enjoy Peter Pan but oh boy is the que never worth it. Only times I do Peter pan is if the wait is under 20 minutes or rope drop.
Despite everything I do appreciate the short que lines. You can’t knock Disney about that.
🎉
Rope dropping Dumbo really early can be beneficial too. That queue gets long and is brutal. I would recommend Peter Pan, Alice, and Dumbo; and do Snow White, Toads, and Pinocchio later.
