That water hose & duct tape protection system is genius. I think I’ll end up putting that on my old town. Thank you so much for sharing your tips & ideas!
Great video Jesse. The seat mod is great. I also raised my seat front 1" on my Old Town 120 pdl and made 3" riser blocks for the back and its like a whole new Yak - no more back fatigue. I enjoy your rigging videos almost as much as the fishing.
thanks for the tips. question: how do you feel about carrying a pistol depending on the surroundings? I live in South Louisiana and fish our marshes and bayous. I also occasionally run a crab line. Things is, we have a growing alligator population in number and size. No attacks... yet!
I have felt that "carrying a pistol" would have made me feel safer a few times over the years while either fishing, or the launching/landing process. I wish it was because of alligators, but we really don't have many of them up here in northern NC. In my cases it was human related
Nice kayak and set up. I'm to old for one of these but fish out of my bay boat. My comment is about your shop. It looks very clean and organized. Like you, I have my rods hanging in the ceiling but have noticed damage to the cork on the handles of some of my fishing rods. Have you experienced this and if so what did you do to help with this problem? Thanks in advance for any answer.
Great vid, love seeing your setup in detail. Your overview and build vids when you first got this yak were a huge help to me when I was looking for a new yak, ended up getting the same model as you in the Camo. Love those Boonedox landing gear, wish they or an alternative were available in Australia, coming from a feelfree lure I miss the ease of just rolling straight into the water. I see you don't have the upper front hatch seal installed, when these first came out there was a lot of feedback about them leaking into the front hatch. For Australia at least, Hobie issued dealers with a free front hatch gasket seal kit for users to install themselves and then factory installed in later production runs, I've never had any issue with water in my front hatch after installing it. Keep up the great vids, love your work!
Why not use the transducer plate from hobie? I just bought an outback , not fished yet (waiting for surgery) . Why not have the rodholders on the rails?
I do use the plate under the yak for the regular transducer for sidescan and downscan. The livescope has a seperate transducer that it best used if you can rotate it and look where you want. As far as the rod holders I have tried them mounted differently through the years and I prefer them mounted behind me. keeps the front of the yak clear for fighting and landing fish
How do you feel about the 2019 Outback vs the Pro Angler that you have? Have you had to launch the PA from the beach? I'm torn between the new Outback and the new 12 ft Pro Angler 360. Plan on using the kayak to fish the CBBT and launch from the beach as well as fishing the (often shallow) Lynnhaven Inlet. Concerned about the Outback redesign handling rougher water and taking waves over the bow. So far got test a 14 ft PA 360 and it feels way too big. Thank you!!! Your walkthroughs are awesome and the water hose hull protection is well worth it!
Sorry for the late reply. Been Busy. I would go Outback personally, the 360 drive is plagued with problems and the 12" PA is still heavy. The Outback does fine in rougher water, it does take more water over the nose but never had major issues with it. Honestly if the water is that rough to cause an issue you wouldn't be out there to begin with. The only down fall to the Outback is it is not as comfortable as the PA. I had to mod the seat on mine to help to get it more comfortable for those 12 our days
Howdy! I'm also looking to do the seat mod. You had mentioned in the video that you planned to do another video just about that. Any news on that front? I'd love to see more detailed views of the aluminum risers with dimensions and stuff so I can replicate what you did. Thanks!
Check out Bison coolers. They make a great fish bag just like that one. I have PVC runners, and fish at least four days a week for the past two years. Never had an issue. That seat mod looks great! Do you have a video on that? For sure I need that in my life!
I bought about 120 of those 18650 AA batteries to make my own rechargable battery pack, but didn't really know how to start and didn't want to spend too much money going crazy on it, the point was to save money from dropping $500.
i placed those shipping barbie pillows inside my hobie pro for extra flotation they are light and will displace a lot of water so the hull doesn't fill up..
Great mods and a great video! Thanks so much for sharing with us! I have a 2020 outback and love it, may do the seat mod, saving for a new Garvin SV unit too. One question I have is I’ve always wondered when you fish the bay bridges and such, how far is it to your fishing spot from launching?? What is the average distance that you typically cover on your trips? Thanks again, love your yak videos and your great fishing!!!! W
Still the best set up on UA-cam... I finally got a kayak I guess I’ll be heading to Rudy soon... I had a blast last year in my bass boat in there and wore out the puppy drum
Not looking to do live scope at the moment what would you recommend for a fish finder with side scan? I have the same kayak and live in a similar area.
I noticed how wet inside of your yak is and wonder if that has impact to your livescope equipment that’s mounted inside of your hull in terms of moister level.
Yes I have seen them, they are not quite sized the same though. They are too bulky up by the zipper and it wouldn't fit in the area that this one does as well.

Very very impressive shop good work dude
Nice kayak!
It's good to see you again.
Thanks, I have been so busy lately it's hard to find time to do videos

Thank you, honestly the videos like this seem to get more views over time. So I will be doing more of them coming up.
Nice looking kayak. The water hose and duct tape is best idea I have seen for a kayak.

No issues on my front hatch. I do have the kit but never installed it. Glad I was able to help in some way! Thanks for the comment!

I am going to do it, I promise. I have been fishing so dang much is the problem lol!
Can't wait to see some trophy trout caught on that yak!
Well that's about over until next fall for me.
He sure stuck one in it the other morning we were out.
@@7citiesfishing awesome

Thanks for the tip! And I will be doing a vid soon on the seat mod
One of the best setups looks awesome!
Glad you think so!
Great information, thanks

On a typical trip I'll cover anywhere from 3 to 12 miles depending on the location. The CBBT I have sometimes done as much as 15 miles total in a trip
Still the best set up on UA-cam... I finally got a kayak I guess I’ll be heading to Rudy soon... I had a blast last year in my bass boat in there and wore out the puppy drum
Thanks and glad you got a yak bud. Rudee has been good, even though it gets fished to death lol.
@@SouthernReelsFishing I fished it last year everyone and there brother was out there but I pulled out a few flounder puppies but no speckled trout
How much is the price for one kayak like that one ? Thanks
Haha just the video I was looking for! Love the videos and your yak
Awesome! Thank you!
I like the setup you have for storing your rods. You showed it for like 2 secs
Not looking to do live scope at the moment what would you recommend for a fish finder with side scan? I have the same kayak and live in a similar area.
Looking to do the same Garmin setup. How much time do you get out of the three battery setup compared to the four?
Still able to do 12 hours no issue
I really like the rubber hose duck tape fender
It works great
I noticed how wet inside of your yak is and wonder if that has impact to your livescope equipment that’s mounted inside of your hull in terms of moister level.
Not that I have noticed. It is usually not like that, just forgot to open it up after my last trip to let it dry up.
Where did you mount your Livescope unit.
On the inside of the upper deck behind the seat. Its mounted to the underside of the cargo deck basically
Walmart has cooler bags very similar to that. Ozark Trail

Great video!
i picked up the garmin 7sv (side / clear vu) .. do you know if thats compatible with live scope?
Not sure, you can check the website to make sure
Could you link the firehose tape?
Wide Gorilla tape from Lowes in black. There's an install video for it on my channel
Very well laid out, I'm just starting to rig mine out hahahaha
Seems to work good for you!
New sub.. I like your setup! Thanks for sharing!
