this song rules. one of my all time favorite. between this band and hum i dont know which i like better. my friend turned me onto this band years ago cause he knew i loved hum and ive loved failure since. awsome bass lines
Wow these guys are good. Just found them now while looking for old 90's Australian rock bands. Man there was some quality music back then. Shit I'm getting old.
just recentley got into this band! cant believe i hadnt heard of them sooner..being a music addict.lol. the album fantastic planet is awsome..not a bad track on it.
everyone always talks about Failure so I finally checked them out. AWESOME. Too bad I'm at least 10 years too late. It's seriously depressing to think that this band never got more popular.... this world blows.
it has everything in common, the album was named after the movie. You can even hear a couple samples from the movie in the album. Amazing work of art.. both the album and the movie
Greg said he was watching TV and there was a NASA spacewalk on tv. An astronaut was repairing a space shuttle and a piece of it (the solar panel or something) broke off and floated away into space, and thats where the opening lines come from!
thanks, the pic is from "Butterflies and Hurricanes" by muse, I found them through A Perfect Circle, and regardless of the time of finding them ,at least we listen!
This video is rad. I especially like the picture of the clouds that look like butterflies around 2:15. Here is how I found out bout failure. I wuv Incubus they got a new bassist (Ben Kenney) he does his solo stuff where he sings and plays guitar, I went to his show a few weeks ago and talked to his bassist (Ashley Mendel) he said one of their big influences is Failure. I check them out and love them!!! Too bad I am like 10 years late. Better late than never tho. -Jesse
People ..I´m happy bout all the comments but I´d like to remember that things are about the music ,expression ,art and all that stuff that makes you think over the edges of humankind and this world Everybody has his own view and therefore people should not bullshit each other for the sake of having a foe in this mere virtual world! just listen to the music and be happy about all the small things you detect in your brain, remember this is just Another Space Song!
Some associated bands (some of the same members) are The Replicants, Lusk, On, Autolux, and Year of the Rabbit.... Really, they are just breathtaking musicians...
@ConnectionLost71 Fantastic Planet is epic. This song is the pinnacle. Nobody that really appreciates this band will ever understand why this didn't go mainstream...
Largely because of their record label. Slash Records was falling apart when Failure was making this album, it's a miracle it got released at all because it was Slash's last album. As such, the only single Failure managed to get out was Stuck on You. Failure could have easily built on that momentum with other songs like this one and The Nurse Who Loved Me but they had no chance to release more singles. A damn shame too, this could have been their breakthrough :(
Unwed Sailor probably wouldn't be classified as space rock, but they're an awesome instrumental band with definite shoegaze characteristics. And their live shows rock.
the emotions put into this song are what make it so great. Whether you like th song or not. And no, it does not fall under the musical genre of EMO based on the musical style, but it does fall under the fact that it is emotional and represents loss of love thus, it's an "emo" thing to do and therefore called EMO, but that is separate from the musical genre.
Yeah, a buddy of mine said, "if you like nirvana and puddle of mudd(not the new crap, their older stuff) you might like Failure. I listened and it sounded like they had cheap recording gear and did it out of a sewer on their record fantastic planet. Long story short, they're my favorite band ever.
I have never got the pleasure of seeing Failure live, but I have been a long time fan. My question is I remember that the lead singer started a new band and put out an album of that group what was the name of his new group? I think it might be either "On" or "Seething Skin" someone please correct me if I'm wrong or at least lead me in the right direction to find his latest work.
they are of the same "genre" as hum, but are vastly different. i urge anyone who even remotely likes this song to go out and purchase the Hum albums "you'd prefer and astronaut" and " downward is heavenward" you wont be disappointed.
I'm pretty sure if it was released as a single the music world would still be the same. Maybe if failure had a larger fan base when they where together the music world would of been the same. But if they released this as a single nothing would of been different. They would of just had a single that no one at the time listened to called "Another Space Song"
@spcshiznit some incredibly talented artists dont get the credit they diserve and its a shame, but at least they are recognized by people who truly respect what they have made instead of having teens listen to a radio hit and then moving on
@shojikan3141 Calm down. Gently place the bong on the nearest flat surface. It will be o.k. - all is not lost. You managed to find the most under-appreciated band of the 1990's. Relax and take a deep breath, and then begin to explore all of the wonder that is known as "Failure".
hahaha i can't believe someone thought they covered paramore and not the other way around. if you guys like their sound check out Year of the Rabbit. it's the same singer, Ken Andrews.

Why didn't know about this band? Seriously. Why? Who didn't let me know about these guys? Was it you? I bet it was you. Man, I am so pissed at you right now...
go compose tough guy, I don't need to show off my brain in cheesy youtube comment areas and then try to impress people... :) and ur works didn't hit me, they annoyed me... again, get over urself
If this song had been released as a single, the music world would be different.
I love Failure...
Mainstream is a failure...
Failure was never a failure... they rock!
"She'll always be what I can't find"
It's hard to pick my favorite Failure song, but this definitely ranks near the top. Beautiful song.
I need this album. I've listened to this song via youtube so many times, and I still can't describe how amazing it sounds.
this song rules. one of my all time favorite. between this band and hum i dont know which i like better. my friend turned me onto this band years ago cause he knew i loved hum and ive loved failure since. awsome bass lines
HUM & failure are purely incredible. :)
She'll always be
What I can't find
THE STORY OF MY LIFE
Wow these guys are good.
Just found them now while looking for old 90's Australian rock bands.
Man there was some quality music back then.
Shit I'm getting old.
amazing song, and good job with the video. Def. one of my favourite Failure tracks. I love Gregs explanation of the lyrics too
i would personally say the best Failure song
I must say I love your pictures, goes realLy well with the song. As for the Song its self, its no less than one of the best song ever made in history.
just recentley got into this band! cant believe i hadnt heard of them sooner..being a music addict.lol. the album fantastic planet is awsome..not a bad track on it.

Love failure, a shame they never took off, but so glad to have found them, an absolute gem of a band
one of my favorite bands.

This song always makes me feel like I'm floating away into space..
i love this song so much
preciate the recommendation of secret machines, checked em out and that is some good stuff. long days and pleasant nights.
I never understood why these guys didn't take off. Great songs, great vibe, and at the right time. A damn shame.
Failure succeeds in making good songs.

I love the smell of elequence in the wee hours of the morning..
I miss bands like Failure and Hum.
So much for the next big sound in rock.

i couldn't agree more.
I completely agree. I've always thought Failure was an incredible band, and it's always been disappointing that no one has heard of them.
best part 4:02 and onwards, makes me go deep into the music
52,000th viewer... This needs to have WAY more than that.
awsome!
fatal and brilliant
Failure were and still are completely eipc!

Hey man, I just noticed while looking at your other vids, Me and you like a lot of the same music. Finally, Someone with some taste eh? Haha.
just shot some dope to this song.... what a perfect moment..
thank you very much , sometime i might do anotherone with failure
I love this song :/
they are from "la planet sauvage" or in english the fantastic planet, it´s a old frence movie
it sure is those 17 tracks all are standalone classics even the segues for me
have you heard their golden album??I cant find it anywhere
lovely, ill bring some buscuits, cheese and the bong.
@audreyevans9 He created the band 'ON', then 'Year of the Rabbit', and is now going solo under his name Ken Andrews.
Also, Stemage. And possibly Porcupine Tree, they are a prog, phych, space rock band all in one.
They were mainstream before mainstream was mainstream.
I have never got the pleasure of seeing Failure live, but I have been a long time fan. that's so fuckin wild that you said that....i love ben kenney and saw him play in dallas in november....i definitely hear the influence now!
they are of the same "genre" as hum, but are vastly different. i urge anyone who even remotely likes this song to go out and purchase the Hum albums "you'd prefer and astronaut" and " downward is heavenward" you wont be disappointed.

It's a shame only "Enjoy the silence" made the radio. This is really great original stuff. Modern radio could use a tune up like this.
well that is a pretty cool thing
Words, words, words...
i want this cd
"In the Tree of Stars"
@spcshiznit some incredibly talented artists dont get the credit they diserve and its a shame, but at least they are recognized by people who truly respect what they have made instead of having teens listen to a radio hit and then moving on
it´s Imogen Poots in the movie 28 weeks later, totaly random but i liked it.

it´s a painting from victoria frances, don´t really know the exact title
hahaha i can't believe someone thought they covered paramore and not the other way around. if you guys like their sound check out Year of the Rabbit. it's the same singer, Ken Andrews.
reminds me a little of the artwork style Voivod uses a lot.
how does he explain them i haven´t heard of it before?
well I don´t know about that but at least they should lay down another space breaking record !
Hey, i'm just stating the facts, it's not about I'M RIGHT YOURE WRONG - i don't care about that. I respect your POV.

@spcshiznit From what i have heard their breakup was drug related.
@acidclarkie Torrents are you friend ;-)
excuse me... words, bit of a typo :D
it isn´t emotional it´s space rock ....
who's the girl?
thats a depressing song.
Disagree that it's boring... but try some Secret Machines for some current space rock.
ive been to space. . . . .it was a bit boring.
