      I wanted to know if it was self leveling because it's important to use self leveling sealant, but I i didn't hear whether he mentioned it it was self leveling so I don't know if it's self leveling.

      From what I’ve seen on RV frames, they wouldn’t hire him. He looks like he might be able to do a nice consistent weld that isn’t cold, undercut, or lacking fusion.

    I installed my own roof on my own camper, a 28 foot Terry five years ago never used any self leveling caulk. Installed the roof right no problems. Expected to last 10 years before it needs to be looked at and if I could’ve got the better material I would expect it would last the rest of my life

      As a guy that has worked for a shop doing nothing but campers, I’m not sure you’re correct. I don’t know if a lifetime roof. Hope you used some kind of butyl and lap sealant or you will be getting water intrusions. Just part of it.

    That technique works best.
    You don’t show the prep-work here, that’s the fun part.

    Hey Dave and Dustin!
    I have a 1989 Bonair Ba-850. I believe it has an aluminum exterior. My question for you is, would I be able to put a pvc roof on and then put the aluminum back on top of the pvc?
    Also, would pvc be okay to use on the walls of the pop up and also put the aluminum back on top of the pvc?

    Will that sealer not work on TPO. Guess I'll have to use dicor or something else for TPO. I like the way that looks. We're the two pencil size straight beads self leveling as well, or non self leveling. Thanks, Very neat. Kudo's

    😆 I hate the tpo we have on rvs an campers now, I'm a roofer an used house flat roof material on our camper I use like a tool shed, roof would outlive every component on the camper lol

    I wish outdoor repairs that were done in the wind would please redo their audio so it's easier to understand everything😂 I was told by an RV repair Man to use LEXEL but maybe that's because of it's very, very wide range in temperature for curing bc I Am in Colorado, where it's already reaching 20° degrees at night. I just had several leaks pop up and i'm a little freaking out right now

      @@yourrvspecialists lol I am in Colorado. It's been winter for a minute. But I am just dealing with the temperature as I can, it is what it is you know. I had a severe ankle injury and could not get on my roof for several years.....Three surgeries later I have a lot of work to do. I'm putting my repairs on my tiny channel. L o l got to start somewhere right

      I would use Hengs self leveling silicone, you could also use Dicor if you would like. But it would require you to clean the sealants every 4-6 months.

      It doesn't have thermal properties to keep the inside temp to block in or out. The interior of the coach as it would condensation it causes the tape to get wet on the underside and come loose.

    Nice job well done. But Self leveling no good at all it thins out very soon, non self-Leveling is the best the thicker the silicone the better because it lasts for a long time without cracks & crevices.

    How much coverage do you get out of a tube?

      A vent lids for example typically takes 2 tubes, about the same for a front or rear molding, a 14x22 skylight 3 tubes, a refrigerator vent 2-1/2, plumbing vent 2-3 fir 1 tube, ladder stations 3/4 tube, for side seams use non sag and 2 tubes.

      I’ll be the first to admit that we use more sealant than the average bear. Depending on size, a complete roof will need 12-18 (not 100 😉) tubes in order to be sealed like this.

    IMO, eternabond tape applied after properly cleaning and preparing the areas on the roof is a more permanent longer lasting solution.
    A vast majority of us RVers out in the desert SW have applied eternabond tape to the side seams, front/rear cap seams, and all AC’s and vent/vent fans on the roof.
    Theres a fella that has had his 5ver roof sealed up with eternabond for 6 years now and has not had to reapply any spots. He is a FTer and we just met him at the “Q” 2 months ago. If he had still be using the dicor, he said he would have reapply twice a year due to being in the SW.

      I just bought a motorhome that's 7 years old. I don't know when the eternabond was applied but it's already failing in multiple places.
      I suspect they don't make it like they used to.

      Hengs self leveling for fiberglass or aluminum roof. Use Dicor for the rubber or TPO roofs

      @@yourrvspecialists If your Grand Design has the Alpha System roof (aka EPDM) you have to use the Lippert Alpha Systems Self-Leveling Lap Sealant or the roof warranty is voided. At least that's what they told me. I've heard of people using the Dicor product too so double check before buying anything.

      @@yourrvspecialists People can choose to use whatever product they want. I was just pointing out what Grand Design told me. I guess that means all Grand Design RV's that have this type of roof work done with anything other than alpha systems in California have voided their warranty.

    If you have to do this, your Roof and your roof vent are installed wrong you should never have to use silicone self leveling on leveling anything ever these are people that don’t understand how to do roofing

      This seal is for a fiberglass roof, however they have recently changed the sealant to be applied to a TPO, Rubber roof. So its now safe for all roof types.

    If you a re going to use that much keep your nozzle buried as you apply it. What you are doing with the circular motion looks impressive to someone on youtube but you "blistered" that pretty bad. All those little pockets and bubbles you see are trapped air that will fail and open...not good at all. Also, just tape it off. So sloppy.
