- Dear Wine People,
Many people mistakenly believe that the WSET Level 1 in Wines is too easy. However, they often overlook two crucial aspects.
First, consider what it's like when you know nothing about a subject, except perhaps that there are white, red, and rosé wines.
Second, WSET Level 1 in Wines is meticulously designed to provide a rock-solid foundation upon which to build your wine knowledge.
In this video, we will discuss the 16 MUST KNOW WINES for WSET Level 1. Note that I said "wines," not "varieties." This is because the wines we will discuss come from 16 different geographical areas around the world. These regions have strict rules and regulations, usually involving the permitted grape varieties and the style of wines produced. Therefore, these wines are named after their regions, and those names can tell us a lot about the specific wines.
We will be talking about:
Champagne
Sancerre
Chablis
Burgundy/Bourgogne
Bordeaux
Prosecco
Cava
Beaujolais
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Chianti
Cotes du Rhone
White Zinfandel
Rioja
Sauternes
Sherry
Port
And, as always - there are 10 WSET Level 1 in Wines exam type questions.
Let me know how well you did!
