Stewart is so entertaining, fun and full of content that when the video ended my feeling was to rewatch it. So glad I recently found out about this channel. Drumeo and Rick Beato brought me here.
All i know about this guy,, is every police album,, and the style is so wonderful..so different than most rock bands..very unique...greetings from detroit
I love this guy so much. My formative years were transformed listening to The Police and feeling the joy of his drumming prowess. What utter joy this man exudes ❤️❤️❤️
God lives in your music, Stewart. Yep. Knew you had something special when a local girl heard me playing and introduced you and police to my ears. I knew you were different. In a great way. Thanks for answering your call.
The Rhythmatist busy rhythmatizing! I still remember seeing the thuimbnail review of the SF piece in New Yorker magazine..."...Mr. Copeland calls them 'squiggles'...I enjoyed seeing his career expanding, but happier still to see him return with a vengeance to the drumset with Oysterhead.
It's so entertaining to hear musicians who are "instrument curious". Jeff Martin of The Tea Party has a collection of exotic instruments, particularly stringed. He incorporates a sort of middle eastern sound into his rock. And Taiko drums are exciting and entertaining to hear in rock music (Big Wreck - Fall Through The Cracks live). Keep mixing it up!
A lot of drummers talk about beating on pots and pans as kids. Stewart was beating the piss out of coffee percolators, sewing machines, hand crank washtubs, alarm clocks, any part of his brother within striking distance, AND Mom's entire 'Julia Child' cookware set!
"Wrapped Around Your Finger" may not be Stewart's favorite. But, on the reunion tour in 2007, his percussion work on this song was absolutely brilliant! A slower version with great sound, and so impressive.
he was in his late sixties in that Reverb video, that explains it. yes that's a duplicate from the video on the Reverb UA-cam channel you can check it out to see what year it was exactly. 🙂but even today he shines with enthusiasm. [EDIT readability]
As much as I am a huge fan of The Police, Copeland's Rythmatist really threw me back! I wore out my vinyl copy, and to this day, I can not find a replacement CD, and more impressive, the album on any streaming service. One day, I will be reunited with a pristine copy, and the circle of life will be complete.
Sometimes it’s great having great artists, with the ability to write, to write books. Same goes for Steward! But, with him you’ll have to be able to actually hear his voice too! Him telling stories. To get the ironical thinking. So, I hope to buy my first book on cd’s very very soon! 😄
THANK YOU STEWART, Ive always felt the same way about jazz......but was too afraid to say it around any other musician, since it could be taken as sacrilege, considering im a drummer and have never given much of a shit about jazz
I saw many shows at My Farther’s Place, even though I lived in Manhattan, when I couldn’t get there, there was a radio station that would do live broadcasts, and I recorded them on my Teac cassette deck.
Stuart's so normal and unpresumptive. Sting is so arrogant and above everyone else. What a contrast...no wonder there were conflicts...but fire came from that friction!😊❤
Respectfully disagree, Stew. Drumming is a composition, saying as a song writer. A cool beat can inspire a melody on top of it, happened to me, at least. Your composed drum beats over The Police songs are the Smithsonian Museum exhibit for eternity right there. P.S. can you make a video about "Too Much Information" song, how it came about, hosr section, how it was built, and why did you come up with that solid sharp funky drum part...? No one ever asked you about it in all of your interviews out there. But I do now! ))) You are awesome anyway
This is having 🗿🚬 actually went out and bought your movie The rhythmist what's funny is the guy wouldn't give me the original he made me a copy and I gave him the 50 bucks up front and that's what I got 🤓 but the movie was great especially the part in the cage with the Lions coming at you
Stewart’s inner child keeps him creative, curious and young. Everyone needs a little Stewart in them
Stuart Little?
He is one in a million as far as talent-energy-graceful aging-smarts. Unreal.
I agree 😃👍
...a little child... it's there. in all of us.
Well said…
One of the most inspiring people, not only in music, but in life.
I'd love a room like that. Great job!

Stewart Copeland: THE MAN, THE GENIUS!
I don't even play drums but Stewart is such an incredible musical influence, never get tired of listening to him play and talk
Stewart is my canary in a coal mine... ie my measure of how old you can be and still stay toung at heart, creative and vibrant. Inspiring af.
I've watched this so many times since Reverb produced it a few years ago. Stewart rules.
Amazing drummer
14K views. If the world wants to move forward, it should be 14 million.
❤❤ STEWART IS TALENTED YET HAS COOL BOYISH SENSE OF HUMOUR
Always interesting to listen to Mr. Copeland discuss his life and work.
Such words of wisdom!!
I love this guys energy. He's like the real life musical version of Doc Brown.
This man is a genius. 😊😎💖
Stewart is younger than I am even though he is twice my age lol I wish I had that motor lol keep rocking and creating Stew!!
Stewart.. wonderful stuff. 😄
I like that Stewart is a very entertaining and funny guy. Also a man of very many talents!
I love this guy's naturally quirky demeanor.
Wow finding this channel has made my year already 🎉. My police records were a treasure when I was 16 and still is
Very good Mr Copeland!
The Rhythmatist busy rhythmatizing!

Super personality. Refreshing in an increasingly depressing world.
Stewart is so entertaining. On so many levels.
One of my biggest influences. Thanks for all that you do, Stew! 🍻
Love this man.
Been there since day one, however..... New fan. Cheers

Your the best! So much fun and so much music... groove on!
Could sit and listen to you forever
"My signature snare drum.... which.... ummmm.... is over here _behind_ my kit.... on the floor." 😂👍
As a musician (drummer), I easily imagine Stewart's music studio
to be the ultimate man cave!
As much as I am a huge fan of The Police, Copeland's Rythmatist really threw me back!

Check Discogs for that album. I found that and the Best of Klark Kent there

Isn't it this one? I got UA-cam Premium, in case you can't see it ...

Ha...thanks for reminding me of Curved Air.
Copeland's work in the original Spyro trilogy got me into his music & The Police. Didn't even know who Copeland was until I looked into Spyro.
Stewart is such a fun, unique guy. Love him to death.
Thank you 🎉 WOW ❤❤❤
Congrats Stewart on getting custody of your mini-documentary. Your music room is my dream home.
THANK YOU STEWART, Ive always felt the same way about jazz......but was too afraid to say it around any other musician, since it could be taken as sacrilege, considering im a drummer and have never given much of a shit about jazz

Seems like a nice guy and amazing drummer. Traditional grip rocks !
What a joy ❤
you're crazy man!! love U!
Love the way Stewart dumps on jazz and then the editor immediately cuts to Buddy Rich 🤣
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
1Timothy 2:5. love SC's playing, he's incredible!
Means nothing, no one cares what fairy tales you want to believe in, but Stewart Copeland is amazing

Coolest of cats.
Hi Stewart, can you please discuss the book collection in the studio some time? Cheers!
The more I listen to this guy talk the more I want to go listen to some police and whatever else he is done interesting fella
Stuart's so normal and unpresumptive. Sting is so arrogant and above everyone else. What a contrast...no wonder there were conflicts...but fire came from that friction!😊❤
unique

More ceng-ceng!
9:29 ok. This man is a musical spy. With him, all instruments are miked. You can't play without being listed :-)

Drummer personalities, like Stewart. Are a missing commodity in today’s musicians.
I’m detecting a Scots ancestry too with his name. Could be wrong!
I play a Pearl flute with a custom head joint. Should I be keeping it on the down-low, that I play a P***l flute ? 🤣
I suppose, like whatever comes out of the jams,
that the rest of the interview is dross?
hafta wonder tho...
Awful! I'm reading this John Adams book and back in his day awful meant "full of awe" - crazy how a word can invert its meaning.
Didnt your father create the CIA?
