- I’ve always been someone who’s fascinated by PROCESS, especially when it comes to music and art. Learning that Nas did the entire first verse of “NY State of Mind” in one take with his whole crew in the booth with him, or that Slum Village laid all the vocals for “Fan-Tas-Tic (Volume 1)” to a click track and then Dilla created the beats after the fact (what???? ), or that Bill Withers’ band grooved on “Use Me” for 10 minutes straight in the studio before Bill laid his vocals (so that what we hear as the downbeat of the album track is actually preceded by a long stretch of hypnotic grooving that went straight to the cutting room floor… there’s one way to make sure the pocket is deep right from the “first notes”)… this is the type of stuff that really gets me fired up.
For myself as a rapper, PROCESS has always been a huge part of my story. Freestyling off-top is all about improvising new lyrics in the spur of the moment. Fans of Freestyle Rappers are typically less interested in hearing them recite their pre-existing lyrics verbatim, and much more excited to watch the PROCESS unfold as the emcee cooks up brand new lyrics in the moment, based on their mood, the latest article they read, the vibe of the beat, the energy in the room, visual stimuli, or the topic suggestion they’ve just been given. “Freestyling” quite literally describes a PROCESS, and thus a Freestyle Rapper is someone known for their mastery of a particular PROCESS.
With this project, I wanted to experiment with a few different PROCESSES to challenge myself creatively and see what emotions/vibes I could channel. The first 2 songs are extremely raw and vulnerable, the last song is much more polished. I think both approaches have merit and can lead to interesting results. In general, it’s much scarier to release music that isn’t based on someone else’s words (a la Omegle Bars) because I don’t have that safety net of saying “oh yeah, well I just rapped about that because they asked me to.” But as I say in the last song: “my theory is embrace fear”, so that’s what I’ve done in deciding to release these tracks out into the wild. I hope you enjoy, and I’m super curious to hear which PROCESS yielded the most enjoyable results for you as a listener- let me know in the comments.

I have read a ton of YT comments, and I'm surprised no one has commented about his honesty.
This guy slays freestyles and still made it a point to let us know that he pre-formulated part of the 3rd song in his head... that's just astounding to me, and it shows incredible character.
How many people with his talents, knowing no one would question him at this point, would have just said, "I just freestyled this in one take off the top."? He went out of his way to let us know his process was different when he didn't have to. You're an inspiring dude, Mack.

I’ve always related to him. I used to love freestyling when a youngin. I was pretty good. When I see Harry doing his thing… it makes me think how good I could have been if I put the same work in.
I love his process. I love his honesty. I love how his message always connects people. He’s just a straight up dude who’s dope and I’d totally be a friend of his growing up (same age roughly, same interests) but have about 5k miles separating us.
I can honestly say I’ve never seen any of wack content of his. Interviews. Live frees. Omegle bars. Even this performance. He’s just an all around dope dude and his brain has been trained in a way that’s beyond normal humans. Yes, you can argue he has his go-to fillers, but even his fillers are changing to beats and topics. He adapts perfectly to the situation which means… well… he loves doing what he does and he is continuing to develop his craft.
I love this dude no homo. And no offense to the no homo comment it’s just a thing we say here… long ago before people were super sensitive. But yes… he’s dope and I’d recommend his 50 best video he just released. You can just play that at any party and have a good 2+ hours of awesomeness.

"Fuck This Fear" is a standout to me. It's relatable to anyone, regardless of your circumstances. The fact that it's all off top with nothing but a concept, and delivered with such conviction and no filler bars is insane! Best shit I've ever heard Mack do.
I have to say as a community we have to do a better job of getting the views up on these EPs to get the word out to more people. He puts his heart and soul into these. Dude, you have no idea how much you inspire me EVERY FUCKIN DAY! I graduated with a degree in Jazz composition and performance from a Jazz University in Canada before moving back to LA (due to covid). I felt like I had to get a job outside of my field because my inner demons told me I couldn't make it doing what I love to do. Even though I have an abysmal amount of financial debt, I quit Amazon about 5 months ago and I've been teaching guitar lessons and actively gigging doing what I love to do. Most in part because I built up the courage to go out to open mics and jams and finally start showing the people what I got...this is mostly because of you man. Thank you for inspiring me and giving me the helping hand through your music to keep ME going with music. You help me remember the reason I first picked up the guitar when I was 16 years old...because it was calling my name and I couldn't see myself doing ANYTHING else. Too bad Harry’s style isn’t getting him the dollar bills. You can tell he’s trying to redevelop himself into a more marketable rapper. In some of his omegles he even makes a whole song based on words. 2 years ago, when he was rapping on the streets, his style was so different than it is now.
He’s the best at freestyling but I wouldn’t pay $200 for a concert ticket to listen to him freestyle for 3 hours like I would for someone like Drake.

I love this so hard. The Rap Coltrane EP was fire and all about you flexing and being dope af. But this is a whole different animal. It has so much more lyrical depth conveying the real emotion and fear that you experience and feel. Not only that but it really resonates with the imposter syndrome we all face as we're trying to go after what we really want and fearing that maybe were not good enough.
