when this came out, I was busy trying to make a living in the Oil Patch, married 5 years and 2 kids.... I don't recall having seen it before tonight, going to the Movie House was 65 miles away and way too expensive for us
I’ve been looking for this movie forever! I can remember watching it on the Sunday Night Movies with Disney. Shaped my life; had a neighbor that would take me flying in his Skyhawk, found out he flew a B-24 in WW2, and now I work on flight simulators for a major airline (and am an A&P too). All because of this movie
I really loved this one. My grandpa had a farm too, but no biplane hanging in the barn though. But lot's of other cool stuff to do and play with. I miss the 80's.. Simpler times with real freedom and privacy.
What a heartwarming movie! Abner reminds me very much of one of the best people I had the honor to meet - Dr. George N. Hadden, Lt. US Navy, WW II veteran, a rough character with a heart of gold. He was just like a father to me when my biological parents failed me. RIP, George!

CHRIS, thank you so much! I have watched quite a few of the movies you have uploaded lately, and I enjoy them immensely. I appreciate you uploading them! They are helping me through this period of time quite a bit. I especially enjoy the Disney ones as I grew up watching Disney on Sunday evenings when I was quite young!
Capers/Shenanigans 😁😁😆😆😅😅🙃! These are the wholesome type of movies that I watched in my youth. No sex, no drugs, no profanity. True there's a lot of dangerous antics in the movie but there are also morals of the stories Thank you, good upload!
When you Wish Upon a Star..... I remember this Movie well. I actually thought about learning how to fly at our small Piper Airport, off Colonial Dr... Who can truly relate to this Movie. ? Remarkable ♥️🎆🗝🏅⚛
I was maybe 7 or 8 years old, about 69 years ago, and my mother took me on a long trip so she could visit her grandfather. I was introduced to cabbage soup, and a local trip to see a cage with condors in it. Back at the house I snooped around in the shed and discovered hip boots - never saw anything like them before. It just so happened that out along the street was a small running stream of water. Though I'd never seen such boots before, I knew what they were for. I tried to climb into them and just HAD to wade through the stream. Can't quite remember what happened at the beginning, but the end of it saw the boots quickly heading to wherever streams go. I felt bad about it, and I don't remember being scolded, even though I deserved it. Bottom line of this story: When visiting grandparents, or great grandparents, it's what boys do. It's what boys were created for. I have another story about my mother father's rock shop and a jar of mercury, but it ends pretty much the same.
Is saw this movie once or twice more that 30 years ago. Once in a while i remebered 3 scenes: The Boy in the Barn looking up seeing the plane hanging under the roof. The scene when Abner chashes the plane and flips it. And the Scene with Abner and 3 on the hill licking soil. That was all i remembered about this movie. I never found it because i forgot the title, i still to this day dont know the German title but a friend remebered the Movie out of the 3 scenes i told him about. So at least i had the english title. But i cant find the movie anywhere. I was surprised to find it here. I dont even care about the quality. Just one and a half our of childhood memories, thangs alot Chris.

I first saw this and last saw this WWoD 1975, in its original run. I forgot that they stole the engine from the Volksbuggin' to get Ragwing airborne, something that's funnier now. Thanks for the ticket to your time machine!

Such a great movie 🍿
now, i want a plane...
All Disney Productions that I remember all have the same cartoon music band providing the background themes. Not a complain, just an observation.
Walt didn’t let anyone on his payroll go to waste. 😆 He used them in as many ways as he could!
@@timothywest1183 Walt was a good man. He didn't "use" people.
Well in the end they forgot his friend from school. But a friend is a very important person in ones life. So I miss it at the end.
Many (most?) people have no true friends.
Does someone know why this lovely movie kinda disappeared? I cannot buy it anywhere and here in Germany it wasnt aired for over 20 years....
Absolutely great movie!!

Glad that in English they call it grand-son (and not little-son, even if it is physically ittle, first), and this film suddested me this
Probably comes from the French “grand”. There’s. a lot of French in English.
*suggested -😋
@@Woodman-Spare-that-tree Indeed 🙂!
In French they call it "petit-fils"
