    I had 2 years XT 660, now I'm owner of 690 SMC. It's just stupid war which is better. Ask yourself what you need. The fact is that KTM is much lighter and more powerfull, with many parts apdapted for hard riding. It's bike for fun and I love it. XT is good for long snappy trips with even heavy luggage. And the most important - both seems to be reliable.

      The XT660 still sounds weak. I wanna get one as a bigger bike since I want a supermoto and a Yamaha its gonna be a xt660x but with 48 hp and 186 Kilogramms I dont know if the xt660 makes that much fun.

    You guys certainly are wicked fast, but still there were some potentially dangerous moments in there and you seem to lack some basic skills like blipping on downshifts. I wish you nice rides and keep it safe! (Your mate couldve easily died there, really lucky)

    • @RidingtheAlps
      @RidingtheAlps  9 років тому +8

      Thanks! blipping on downshifts is very unusual (and kind of useless) on a supermoto since it's relatively easy to just back it in... and it's way more fun that way!

    • @valebliz
      @valebliz 9 років тому +2

      RidingtheAlps Uhm, kinda true what you say. I'm so accustomed to blipping i end up doing it on my duke 690 too... but kinda useless with a slipper clutch on that kind of bike.

    • @bokelund9176
      @bokelund9176 9 років тому +5

      Schleberger The reason they dont do any "blipping" on the downshifts is probably so the rear tire will spin slower than the ground wich will make it easyer to back it in :)
      If you blipp the throttle your downshifts will be more smooth and may not cause the rear tire to spin slower than the ground and will not help you back it in

    • @zeusvogel2005

    • @RidingtheAlps
      @RidingtheAlps  10 років тому +2

      guso712 No, this one is full power. The KTM in front of the XTX is 34hp though. When riding such a steep downhill pass power does not matter at all, and the XTX weight is not a handicap here. Even though it is less powerful, it has a nice torque and a smaller sprocket is mounted. Engine is not tuned, the rest is just a matter of how hard you are pushing it.
      PS: if you watch our uphill video (KTM 690 SMC vs Yamaha 660 XTX on Stelvio Pass [raw]) you will see that the KTM rider is clearly not pushing it behind the Yam, because when riding uphill power and weight does matter.
