I love how Casio offers something for just about every market and they don't try to be something they're not. And if there's one thing they have conquered, it's how comfortable their watches wear.
I can see the appeal with the level of finishing, manufacturing process and tech that goes into Casios premium product lines. I'm currently considering selling a bunch of autos to fund a G-shock MT-G B3000. Apparently the module it uses is a modified version of the one in this Oceanus which itself took 15 years to develop.
As someone who owned two Oceanus, T200 and T4000, the I can tell you that the finishing is really good for the money, but not GS good, not as sharp as my SBGA375 for example. Especially between the lugs, my T4000 was very poorly finished between the lugs and that stopped me from using it on leather. These watches are super light thanks to it's titanium, but the module is mostly platic as well. I was kinda disappointed when I popped the caseback on mine, I was curious and I couldn't find a solid module picture at the time. One issue I had with both of my Oceanus, and I can see it on some of the macro shots here, is the hands/indices finishing... Like, the hands look a bit poorly cut and some random scratches on them. I felt like Casio put a lot of time into finishing the case but then installed hands from a Casio Édifice. I'm surprised you liked the clasp. I thought it was the worst idea ever, because I couldn't get a perfect size on my T4000, so I was using it with a extra link and the micro adjustment all the way in... And every time I opened the clasp, I would have to resize it again lol. I still think they are cool novelty watches, but I sold both of mine. The T4000 is technically a notch under the S5000 (but they use the same module), but I got mine when it was freshly released and paid around 850 USD for it 😅 Edit : I forgot to mention, the Casio app is HORRIBLE when compared to the Oceanus Connect app. The Oceanus app was way cleaner, way more intuitive and had nicer animation... Then Casio vde decided to discontinue it and force people to use the Casio app....
Well, I always wear my watches a little loose. So I sized it like that with the link in. Then when the humidity kicks up and my wrist swells a little, I just pop it out one. So far it's been pretty comfortable. I completely agree with you on the app. The new Casio app seems better than the old Casio one, but not as good as the Oceanus.
Casio is a brand that once you buy one you get sucked into the brand and can’t stop getting more and before you know it you’re collecting them in many different variations and prices but you end up wanting the more expensive exclusive , technical ones and then you go crazy and break out and go for the gills and take the plunge with models like the Oceanus …and you never look back !
I have a small watch collection. All my watches are working watches. None were acquired for decoration. The Crown Jewels of my collection are 2 Oceanus. One is now 5 years old and the new one about 3 months old. They are indeed quite special. From the accuracy, reliability and durability. Also the lume is excellent. Will last more that 8 hours. Adjust once and never again. Really, even if you let the power die in a dark drawer. Expose to light and let self sync overnight and done. Both were purchased directly from Japan, long after both were no longer available from Casio. Not all is perfect. The titanium strap was super scratch prone. I did replace the straps on both. Thank you Artem and Zuludiver!
I just bought this exact watch due to this in depth review and basic functionality tutorial. I already have the T200 abs has been my daily driver for a long time. I can’t wait to get this new watch!!
Wow. That is a stunning and feature filled watch. I personally have about 2 dozen watches I would rather buy for $1000. But I’ve always said, as long as you’re not buying a counterfeit watch, you buy what you want, and I don’t judge. Thanks for the great review.
My s100 has become my go to watch in a large collection. I am actually thinking about selling most of my other watches as I wear it so much. It just works. Some of the other watches in the Oceanus line look great, but I am worried about wrist comfort due to size.
@@BetamaxBabe It's a good bracelet for the price point and the titanium means it is very light on the wrist. It does lack microadjustments, but I don't mind it being a little loose given the light weight.
In my opinion, a top-notch multi-functional watch is en par with a top-notch accurate quartz, or a top-notch mechanical. It's like different fields of watchmaking. This and other Casios are also a prove that this brand is extremely important in terms of history and technology.
I bought an OCW-T2600-1AJF. It looks very similar to the S5000, but is significantly cheaper. It has a simpler band, and no Bluetooth, which is redundant as I can receive the atomic clock signals. Also, the city names are not carved on the bezel, which I actually prefer. Otherwise not much different. I think we have Casio's association with cheap digital watches and calculators to thank for the fact you can get a watch of this quality at this price. They "should" be much more expensive.
My least favorite thing about a chronograph is the static second hand. I love that my Oceanus fixes the issue. Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has no idea how to say it.
@@ElJibaro718 it's just a stopwatch. Push top button to start it. Push again to stop it. After that there should be a hand to tell you how many min have elapsed and add where the second hand is to that. You usually push the bottom button afterwards to reset. Usually you use it to see how long it took someone to do something. But you can also use it to see how long it's been since you started something. Like in cooking.
Got one and replaced all my previous automatic watches…. A 10 plus collection I use it everyday for every occasion Best one i ever had i got the s5000E
I’m patiently waiting for a more classic design like the T200S I own. Also waiting for them to shrink the module some. Get it down so it first in a 38mm case and they’re golden.
Casio can punch way above their weight. The watch is stunning, classic and modern in the same time and packed up with features. For someone who can respect and adore both mechanical and quartz movement, this watch is a work of art. And nice review as always!
As time enthusiasts, we appreciate timekeeping and this watch checks a lot of boxes. It peeks our interest! However, you are a bit crazy because I think it is a bit gimmicky. Although, it is possible, I have not yet arrived at this point in my watch buying life. We go through seasons don't we? lol. My Mission Impossible Casio has satisfied my all multifunctional itch for some time. I still need a good chrono though. And btw, the Hamilton looks absolute wonderful on your wrist. Perhaps that is my next move. Nonetheless, I'm more of a simpleton and I love my field watches. I have many, but my favorite without a doubt is my Lorier Safari as my kids have nicknamed Penny. If you can get your hands on one you will fall in love. 100%
i paid 10 bucks for my s100, i buy my work clothes at my local goodwill and i always look in their little showcase because i have found $5.00 gold rings and silver chains also i always buy the grandkids one of their "grab bags" of cheap jewelry so i was looking through the case one sunday and saw 5 g-shock watches 2 of each of the following, hamilton khaki one black dial one white seiko automatic 5 orange dial and a seiko X with a deep blue dial my s100 and a micro brand that i looked up all around $500.00 i paid less than 10 bucks for each watch immediately took them all to the pawn shop sold them for 100 bucks each 160 for the micro brand and went home got my girlfriend took her car went and put 4 new tires on it and a full size spare but i kept the s100 and i love it
I have 2 Oceanus watches so far; an OCW-T4000, and a P1000. I love the look and functions of the P1000 with inner rotating faceted bezel and a working digital compass.
After hearing other watch reviewers pronounce MR-G as “em arr jee”, I’m so happy to hear someone else actually pronounces it like me, “Mister G”! 😆 As for the Oceanus, how does it compare to Citizen’s line of radio and atomic watches, like the Atessa, PCAT, etc?
Casio is my favorite brand. I have two Oceanus. I love them. The titanium and finish is fantastic. Accuracy, complications, sapphire. Just awesome watches.
Casio runs laps around other brands even at this price range. If you are a quality for price person, there's no real competition aside from maybe Citizen. For me it's hard to settle for anything else.
That does NOT have an octagon bezel. If I counted correctly, it has 16 sides (4 more than the Christopher Ward "The 12") which means you've got a hexadecagon.
I keep looking at reviews of these Oceanus line watches and thinking how much I'd like one. But it only takes a few seconds to realise I like them because of how similar they are in many ways to my Seiko Astron. They would overlap far too much in role and functionality, and I just can't justify that at this price.
Personally I have the gut feeling, that it is too much money to spend on a CASIO. That said, it took me some time to buy into G-SHOCK…..and now my “square” (G-5600UE 😅) is probably my favorite watch…..and a Rolex Milgauss is completing for wrist-time 😅 ….. So time will tell. It might very well be, that I will get around to those CASIOs, too 😂👍 Great review! Thanks 🙏
@@RelativeTime For the time being I am good with resin…..after all it is a beater, and a metal case will show any scratches …… I am hoping for a square with a MIP display though….without the sensor!
@@PAN-km5qk that would be cool. I wound up selling my square after I modded my Casio Royale with a nicer case. Between it and my Garmin I just never seem to wear it.
@@RelativeTime the Casio Royale….a true classic …… if the square is CASIOs “submariner”, the Casio Royale is the “explorer” ….. the true Ian Fleming/James Bond watch of the lineup 😆😉 ….. now I have the strong desire to watch Octopussy….maybe this weekend 😅😂
Well, no, Shane, you're not nuts for digging this watch: I have a Casio Edifice EQS-500 series with a lot of the same vibe ascthis Oceanus, minus the titanium and wireless connectivity. It *does* have virtually everything else, and wraps it in a cool package almost as understated as yours (which is certainly *not* the case across-the-board in the Edifice lineup). I think Edifice is where Casio starts to roll up its would-be haute-horology sleeves, whereas with Oceanus they "take it to 11" in terms of materials and finishing. For me, Edifice is as far up the Casio food chain as I care to throw my money at, but I do admire what they're doing at the very top. (And, for anyone who doesn't know about Casio's Edifice line, I encourage you to check it out, but be forewarned that some of the designs there are a bit over-the-top; my choice by contrast is rather restrained, but something that's satisfied me long-term.
@RelativeTime I have two Edifice models. One is about as plain Jane as you can get in White... the other is a very slim piece with a dark Grey striated dial with turquoise accents and second hand. They're phenomenal for the money.
If you just want to dip your toe in the water, the Oceanus S100 is the one to go for, titanium, sapphire, multiband 6. The Oceanus T200 arguably has a better looking dial but uses stainless steel, so a bit heavier. Either one will provide an excellent introduction to the quality of this range.
That was my concern at first, but once I got it I didn't mind the busy dial at all. I also thought the city names would really bug me, but the way they are engraved I rarely notice them unless I'm looking for them.
Big brands need to come down with the margins a bit, for 1000$ you can get an aventurine dial Zelos, a titanium/forged carbon dial Phoibos and a solar chronograph Tactical Frog all of them better finished, with milled clasps, quick adjust Super Luminova, AR coating, Seiko mechanical/solar movements and 300m water resistence. I'm all for history and legacy but this new microbrands also have a story to tell and some have actual live passionate people behind not shareholders and boards. Big brands have lower costs, high volume but somehow still cost more.
That is a cool watch! (And you're not crazy for buying it!). The T200 that I had was more my speed as the chronograph functions are a bit much on this one. I really enjoyed it and am considering replacing it. My only complaint was the limited window to check if the atomic clock signal was received. Did you have that issue with this one?
That's something I'll have to look into a little more. Someone pointed out today that all Casios with Bluetooth prioritize it over multiband. I'm guessing because it's more precise to your location, and it doesn't want to confuse it with two signals. Now some are saying that once you pair your watch to the phone it will no longer check the multiband signal. At least not until you unpair it with a combo of buttons on the watch. Whereas some are saying that it won't check until it hasn't been able to pair with your phone for over 24hrs. The Casio manual doesn't mention anything, so I'll have to do some experimenting to see.
As far as quartz chronos go it's one of the better ones, but that's not saying much. There is a little springy-ness to it, but that's about it. It's definitely no Meca-Quartz when it comes to that.
Casio produces similar lower end versions in their Edifice line. The Edifice line looks and feels lower quality and the price us substantially cheaper. The Oceanus line is indeed premium and very much worth the higher price but to the average person there is not much differentiation between the sub brands. Perhaps this is behind the Oceanus being JDM and Edifice their budget offering of the same style for the global audience. I have 2 Oceanus models and 1 Edifice. Now I wish I hadn't bought the Edifice even though it's a limited edition model. Having a JDM outside Japan adds to it's desirability and thus good ownership feeling.
You might want to check out this citizen ....Citizen Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar AT4010-50E Titanium I own it and it has many features, except Bluetooth but it does connect with one of the antennas so it's always accurate to the second, it might compete with the Casio.
I didn't realize this must be Oceanus Day, if there is such a thing, when I put on the Oceanus T200 before bed last night. That's a gorgeous model you have. Totally worth it, and the slim light weight must be fantastic!
I really want to like what Casio is doing with the Oceanus watches. Technically they are fantastic. However, the designs are a bit... much. They look too modern and dated at the same time. The T200 you showed is more my cup of tea. This seems way too busy for me.
Oceanus watches are amazing. You are in no way "crazy". A fine quartz watch has as much of a place in a collection as a fine automatic or manual. I have a 40s Longines, and I have a 70s Seiko Type II Quartz. They both serve a function.
I think you will like some Citizen models then, for instance the Citizen titanium BL5558-58L, with two alarms, dual time, Chronograph, perpetual calendar, 10bar, Eco-drive .. At much competetive price. If you want even more at similar prices of the Ocean you can find the Attesa line of Citizen
You’re not crazy, but the watch is. *lol* In a good way. Very fun review of a very different piece. Very cool to see this, I didn’t realize Casio was pushing the upmarket angle to this degree.
It's almost everything I don't like. An integrated bracelet, the dial is too busy, it's far too big, and it's titanium. As yet I haven't seen a Casio I like, but who knows, there is always time
You keep saying "this is a watch only Casio can make" .... Take a quick look at any Seiko Astron. The Oceanus is almost a carbon copy right down to the micro adjust clasp. Seiko takes the GPS approach versus multiband and Bluetooth but they're effectively the same watches.
Well I know the Astron has some sophisticated GPS modulas, and world time. I wasn't sure about the finsihing, or if there was one with a chrono as well. I'll have to look into them more. The lack of BT, may or may not be a good thing. Sometimes it complicates things, but it does make the intial setup of a perpetual calendar easier.
4:15 you were very close with the pronounciation with that one. It’s actually pronounced ‘Uranus” because When using English letters for Japanese, almost everyone uses the “R” character and drops the “L” from romaji, but the truth of the matter is that neither R nor L exist in Japanese.
It's the Jack Mason Avigator. I'll have a review out in a couple weeks. jackmasonbrand.com/products/copy-of-avigator-meca-quartz-chronograph It's more of a light metallic blue.
No Shane, you are not crazy. It's just that this category of watches - which I'm very fond of - is not well known outside of Japan at all. I have a couple of them and they are really exceptional! Casio Oceanus, Citizen Attesa and Exceed, Seiko Astron and Brightz are mostly or exclusively JDM lines of high tech dress GADA watches, which are very popular in Japan. They are usually given as gifts to young professionals when starting out, and are also very popular as pair watches for couple anniversaries or engagements. Also, in Japan each year you are getting LE models with different dial options, based on themes. Citizen is very well known for that, this years' theme is based on the sea (the line is called Unite with Blue). Some models in this category from this year that might interest you. Citizen Attesa BY1001-66E and CB3030-76E. Seiko Astron SBXY055 and SBXY033 Keep the goodness coming, cheers!
It's a great looking piece. I love the design of the bracelet. It does remind me of the Seiko Presage GMT mixed with a Citizen Atessa. Although you can pick up an Atessa for similar money. The presage GMT is a 4Hz Automatic with a beautiful dial. Still the Casio is worth considering. Equally it's in Christopher Ward territory.
Liken it to Hyundai. Solid car but not a luxury car; until they brought out the Genesis. People were reluctant to purchase now it is right up their with BMW. It would still be hard still to purchase a 1 K casio.
Very similar. Its funny how we associate brands with paticular products and prices, and it's hard to accpet when they do something else. I think that's what also killed VWs attempt at the Phaeton.
Quite frankly, high-end quartz (especially solar) are the only watches that make real logical sense. Mechanical watches are for the emotions, but functionally are barely passable - accuracy, toughness, etc.
I bought this exact watch in the 2021, when the dollar to yen conversion was really in the dollar’s favor, for about $750. It is my favorite watch that I own. The only thing that I wish it had was another micro adjust or two in the clasp.
for me i dont see the purpose of that watch to be radio sync if its illegilble compare to a lineage m100, m170 or an oceanus s100 and t200....maybe only the day complication could benefit the oceanus line ...the rest is just clogging the dial
It's a beautiful watch but a little over complicated for me. I have a Casio Edifice EFV-590 chrono that's a little more my speed (even though I rarely use the complications.)
Thinking rationally these are probably the best watches in the world, I have a Lineage and a Oceanus S100 and couldn't be happier. Mechanical watches have their allure but are ultimately steam technology.
I like the oceanus and there is more beautiful models than this one. I don't like the use of city names on the bezel, it looks terrible to me, but as I said there is many other cool Oceanus. I suggest for a future review of the Casio G-Shock MTG line, for some of them are very nice like this Oceanus and maybe doing a comparison, the other MRG line is way expensive but maybe you shold try to review at least one. Excellent review.
At some point, I'll try to review a MTG. I was actually worried the city names would bug the heck out of me, but most of the time I barely notice them. Unless I'm looking for them. I think it's the way they are engraved on the angled bezel, they often seem to disappear.
$1300???? For a Casio. Not saying it isn’t super nice. But I would never spend this much on a watch. And if I did it would be a special watch like the Seiko urishi or Visconti opera. Or a Raymond Weill automatic. But not a Casio lol. Saying Casio to anyone who was a child in the seventies is like saying Atari. Not a snob. But would you buy a Polish Yugo car and spend 50k?
@@mikespeed3928 no, just multi-band and Bluetooth. I think there may be one Casio Oceanus that does, But don't remember the model. Gps can be great, but has a hard time syncing up when your indoors.
When I see a watch with an integrated bracelet, I have an immediate, negative reaction. Interestingly, I had that feeling even before becoming a watch nerd. My experience is that all metal bracelets end up looking bad unless you really baby them. Even as I type this my watch clasp is rubbing all over my desk. I like to change up the look of many of my watches by exchanging bracelets for straps, both leather and rubber. You can sometimes do that with integrated bracelets, but oftentimes you have to modify the strap to make it work. And sometimes it is just not possible. Other than that, this is an outstanding watch and highly desirable.
This is true. Long-term wear is always a big concern. I have an old titanium Seiko Kinetic with one that looks all scratched up after 20 some years. Hopefully, the protective coating keeps this one looking pristine longer.
Both the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary and the Oxford English Dictionary give the pronunciation as "oh-SEE-uh-nuhs" (my transcription; see dictionaries for phonetic version). This was news to me, as for years I've thought it was "oh-shee-A-nus" (where "A" represents a as in American English "ash" or "add"). The Oxford app has audio file of pronunciation, too.
Interesting. I guess that makes sense if it's origins are greek. Although I did find a recent Casio Japan ad, that pronounces it near the end. ua-cam.com/video/PBw6TAWJxOc/v-deo.html Right around 12 seconds. It sounds more like oh-shee-an-us there.
Couple of comments. I’m a well educated, reasonably bright guy but there is zero chance I could even begin to operate that “watch”. Honestly, that’s a huge con for me. It’s total overkill. Also, I can’t say I know the correct pronunciation of “Oceanus” but I’m pretty sure it ain’t “Oshy- anus”.
I was thinking it might be pronounced like Uranus. The fact that might be Greek, but who knows how the Japanese would pronounce it. Operating the watch isn't too bad after you've had it. At least after you've done the initial setup with the app. The main thing to remember is just had a switch between the modes.
@@RelativeTime you are being too generous to me. My technical zenith is that I can synchronize a triple carb set up. Apparently my skills became obsolete in about 1980! I’m just kidding you about the pronunciation.
'Only Casio could make this watch'?😂 As per other Oceanus, the case is likely done by Seiko and the movement is spookily similar to Citizen. Citizen make many models, including the Attessa line, at a similar price, with all the same specs.
So which model Citizen do you think this is spookily similar to? Most of the Attessa line I've seen online seem to be chronos with atomic timekeeping, but maybe I missed one. if there is one I'd love to check it out.
Pair it with a phone via BT and the app. Then keep the watch out of range of the phone for 3 days. Check if multiband syncing still works. I bet it doesn't. Oh, and good luck with UNpairing the watch from the phone so multiband sync works again.
Does BT stop the watch from using multiband? Now I have noticed that multiband doesn't always work, but I figured that's because of my house with dense bricks all around it. I'll have to look into it more.
@@RelativeTime I've got several Casios with BT and multiband. Once connected they all ignore multiband and demand to see the phone/app. They won't fall back even if you use the "unpair" (not really) described in the manual. I had to dig the web to find instructions on how to find the REAL unpair function in the watches own settings mode, like press this until in time setting, press that until xyz blinks, then press and hold x, y and z until display shows .... I can only imagine how that will work on an analog watch .. Once back on multiband, my watches never fail to sync - every night (last sync timestamp can be displayed). I deleted the apps, unpaired the watches and I'm fine again. Btw the apps are a phone battery drainer. To me, the BT functionality is the most useless and disappointing feature ever.
Yeah, I'm reading up on this now. Didn't realize it disabled or made it more difficult. I'll have to look into this more. I remember back in the old Oceanus app there was a screen that showed up the last time the watch was synced up and indicated if it was BT or Multiband, but I don't see that at all now on the newer Casio app. So I assumed it was using both, but maybe not. Although I will say that so far I've liked BT on it just for initially setting up the watch. Especially the perpetual calendar. Every other analog watch I've used that has had it, has been a major pain to set up.
@@RelativeTime yes I get that and thought the same - it's maybe handy for the setup. But the features are really not worth it. Timezones / world times - after the setup I need to read them on the watch anyway. Alarms - to be honest I rarely use ONE alarm, let alone two or even more. Reminders? Last time this went off on my watch I couldn't remember how to stop it, how to redisplay it after it was gone, andni only remembered I had set it to display someone's birthday. Open the manual viewer, find the PDF, read it all over again ... What a pain in the crack! I turned it off / cleared them all and decided to never use it again - my phone does a better job with the calendar i sync with outlook. Selecting world times was so slow and laggy on the app I was faster setting them by pushing the buttons on the watch. And then the annoyance of a drained battery, the app losing connection to the watch, the watch not syncing time anymore ... Oh Jesus, what have I done?!?! Recently the old app told me it's replaced by a new one, will no longer work. Install new one, try it out , dang I got to pair it again ... Oh no, what have I done? Find the unpair cheat sheet again, not paying attention, did it say hold until x or until y? Dang - watch factory reset. Thank you very much. After I got it all working, set up and unpaired again I deleted the apps for good. I'm healed now. No more connected sh+t on my wrist!
That is a really cool addition. More Chronos should do that.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't know how to actually use a chronograph.
The Limited edition model OCW-S5000D-1AJF looks SO GOOD
Yeah it does. That one is amazing.
I wish Oceanus releases more simple dials like T200.
Love the watch. I happen to own 2 oceanus watches. The S100 1ajf and the T3000 1ajf. I think they are stunning
I'm wearing a Casio Oceanus OCW-3000 and it's a great watch!
The limited black
version is gorgeous.
Definitely not crazy Shane. I really love this watch. Thanks for the review!!
The Casio Lineage 5174 is very similar but not as flashy. Very accurate as well with a great price!
Got one and replaced all my previous automatic watches…. A 10 plus collection
I use it everyday for every occasion
Best one i ever had i got the s5000E
I happen to own an Oceanus three-hander, T200 in green, love it. This Chronograph looks amazing with a great level of detail.
Alex Did you get one from Gary?
i paid 10 bucks for my s100, i buy my work clothes at my local goodwill and i always look in their little showcase because i have found $5.00 gold rings and silver chains also i always buy the grandkids one of their "grab bags" of cheap jewelry so i was looking through the case one sunday and saw 5 g-shock watches 2 of each of the following, hamilton khaki one black dial one white seiko automatic 5 orange dial and a seiko X with a deep blue dial my s100 and a micro brand that i looked up all around $500.00 i paid less than 10 bucks for each watch immediately took them all to the pawn shop sold them for 100 bucks each 160 for the micro brand and went home got my girlfriend took her car went and put 4 new tires on it and a full size spare but i kept the s100 and i love it
Perfect! Thank you!
I have 2 Oceanus watches so far; an OCW-T4000, and a P1000. I love the look and functions of the P1000 with inner rotating faceted bezel and a working digital compass.
Both of those look great. There is a square oceanus I've seen online as well. Don't remeber the model number, but I'm curious about that one.
@@RelativeTime FYI: it's the OCW-T5000-1AJF.
In my opinion the dial is too busy. But it is a very interesting watch.
Various oceanus pronunciation cracked me up! Top notch review and camera work as always !! Cheers from Bengaluru India 🇮🇳 🙌
Okay, please I just have to ask. Where is that chess set from? What kind of pieces and board are they? I love the look!
That's one I got off Amazon. amzn.to/3rpMb4j
I have a few others I use in the videos, but I think that one looks the best on camera.
@@RelativeTime thanks so much! Yeah looking great 👍
It needs a crown like a Breitling B1....it is pure genius!!
That does NOT have an octagon bezel. If I counted correctly, it has 16 sides (4 more than the Christopher Ward "The 12") which means you've got a hexadecagon.
You are correct. I guess it's got 4 more sides over the CW, which must mean it's better. 😎
I am currently absolutely addicted to CASIO ProTrek as an ultimate do it all watch ❤
brill watch i do like it a lot.... i just dont like intergrated braclets cheers
That said, it took me some time to buy into G-SHOCK…..and now my “square” (G-5600UE 😅) is probably my favorite watch…..and a Rolex Milgauss is completing for wrist-time 😅
….. So time will tell. It might very well be, that I will get around to those CASIOs, too 😂👍
Great review! Thanks 🙏
Thanks. Do you think you might ever buy one of the metal squares?
@@RelativeTime For the time being I am good with resin…..after all it is a beater, and a metal case will show any scratches …… I am hoping for a square with a MIP display though….without the sensor!
@@PAN-km5qk that would be cool. I wound up selling my square after I modded my Casio Royale with a nicer case. Between it and my Garmin I just never seem to wear it.
@@RelativeTime the Casio Royale….a true classic …… if the square is CASIOs “submariner”, the Casio Royale is the “explorer” ….. the true Ian Fleming/James Bond watch of the lineup 😆😉
….. now I have the strong desire to watch Octopussy….maybe this weekend 😅😂
I have the Oceanus T200, great watch. Tempted to pick up a Oceanus chrono, but they are $$$$.
The US$1k price on Amazon is a no-go for me. The P1000 would be a better choice for me, and if it was on a deep sale, more better!!!
Great watch, Casio rocks!
I still need to check out the Edifice line more. Heck i should look at Casio more in general.
@RelativeTime I have two Edifice models. One is about as plain Jane as you can get in White... the other is a very slim piece with a dark Grey striated dial with turquoise accents and second hand. They're phenomenal for the money.
I have T4000D and it's awesome
They are really great watches!
Nice looking watch.
I love the Oceanus range from Casio , I have the S100 which I love, however I find the S5000 too busy and a little over complicated for my taste.
Exactly. I hope to buy a three-hand Oceanus someday.
@@RelativeTime That might explain it, because I paired mine with Bluetooth.
@@RelativeTimeno,my T200 is paired to my phone and it checks the mb6 signal every night.
How's the chronograph pusher button feel? Any snappiness or tactility to it?
Edifice line has some very nice finishing as well though...for what you pay its actually impressive
Agreed,the t200 is the one I bought,clean,simple 3 hander
Classic and understated.
Oceanus watches are amazing. You are in no way "crazy". A fine quartz watch has as much of a place in a collection as a fine automatic or manual. I have a 40s Longines, and I have a 70s Seiko Type II Quartz. They both serve a function.
Does anyone know of a Oceanus with a timer and alarm function, that is still available today (no used, but new)?
nice watch, thank you for the review 👍
Thanks Glad you enjoyed it.
Gotta luv Casio…!!! 👍😊💥
Maybe it's more of a mental thing for me, but I can't see myself forking over a grand for a Casio. Nice review Shane!!!!
It's seems strange, which is why I went for the cheaper T200 first.
The astron has no lume.
Like at all.
@@RelativeTimethe astron also has no lume.
I dig it. good vid, thank you.
That's a nice watch, just a little busy for my tasts but I can definitely see me checking out a T200 at some point.
Cheers 🍻
4:15 you were very close with the pronounciation with that one. It’s actually pronounced ‘Uranus” because When using English letters for Japanese, almost everyone uses the “R” character and drops the “L” from romaji, but the truth of the matter is that neither R nor L exist in Japanese.
Anyone know what the gray dial chronograph is on the left at 5:28?
It's the Jack Mason Avigator. I'll have a review out in a couple weeks.
jackmasonbrand.com/products/copy-of-avigator-meca-quartz-chronograph
It's more of a light metallic blue.
Seiko Astron SBXY055 and SBXY033
Keep the goodness coming, cheers!
I've never been a fan of titanium. I personally like to feel a little substance in my watches.
NO ! These Oceanus watches are amazing, and will last a lifetime.
@@RelativeTime BTW.. Thanks for the Great content.
Quite frankly, high-end quartz (especially solar) are the only watches that make real logical sense. Mechanical watches are for the emotions, but functionally are barely passable - accuracy, toughness, etc.
Mechanical watches are wrist tamagochies
Yes.
I bought this exact watch in the 2021, when the dollar to yen conversion was really in the dollar’s favor, for about $750. It is my favorite watch that I own. The only thing that I wish it had was another micro adjust or two in the clasp.
Deserving of a solid look for sure.
I’ve got the t200 and have considered the higher end models. The accuracy and finishing are nuts.
It's amazing what they can do.
for me i dont see the purpose of that watch to be radio sync if its illegilble compare to a lineage m100, m170 or an oceanus s100 and t200....maybe only the day complication could benefit the oceanus line ...the rest is just clogging the dial
It's a beautiful watch but a little over complicated for me. I have a Casio Edifice EFV-590 chrono that's a little more my speed (even though I rarely use the complications.)
Ill be checking on the Ventura XXL ....a bit less than the Oceanus. But gotta love the love put into that design...and 9mil thick..damn
Its better made than any Tag heuer costing twice as much!
Thinking rationally these are probably the best watches in the world, I have a Lineage and a Oceanus S100 and couldn't be happier. Mechanical watches have their allure but are ultimately steam technology.
LMAO Oh yes Grand Seiko is looking over their shoulder.
😎
I own this watch. It is a beautiful piece, for sure. I never use the crown to change things. I just use the Watch app.
What a beautiful watch.
This watch doesn't have LED light?
No. But the lume (glow in the dark paint) lasts a while.
@@RelativeTime thank you.
@@RelativeTime does it have GPS?
@@mikespeed3928 no, just multi-band and Bluetooth. I think there may be one Casio Oceanus that does, But don't remember the model.
Gps can be great, but has a hard time syncing up when your indoors.
@@RelativeTime thank you so much
Can you make a full blown tutorial because I have no idea how to operate this watch lmao
I'll see what I can do. Might be a while though.
I’ve noticed that most high end jdm models have an on the fly adjust bracelet. Casio /citizen etc
Although I did find a recent Casio Japan ad, that pronounces it near the end. ua-cam.com/video/PBw6TAWJxOc/v-deo.html
Right around 12 seconds. It sounds more like oh-shee-an-us there.
@@RelativeTime Thanks -- I'm glad somebody at Casio shares my old "non-standard" take on the name. :-)
Bit of an upscale LIW-M700D-1AJF vibe to it, in the movement features / functionality anyway.
'Only Casio could make this watch'?😂
As per other Oceanus, the case is likely done by Seiko and the movement is spookily similar to Citizen.
Take yer pick but the Promaster Skys (AT8040) come to mind.
Just ordered the white dial 200 as I'm not a fan of chronographs
