Nice job on the weather stripping. You really do have a professional work ethic with what you do. Exactly what people who make videos for others should have.
Nice work, The 3M weatherstrip adhesive is great. I have an 87. Also check your door to dash weatherstripping because it has a metal bar inside that rusts. I just replaced mine it was leaking.
Nice job on the weatherstrip👍 I would think that the anti rattle fabric pieces will cause the roof to leak. Not that we drive our vette’s in the rain, but still.
Hey, great series of videos! I have been working my way thru the series and you’re doing a great job rehabbing the C4. I’ve had many vettes over the years including an 88 which I bought new and the persistent problem I had was the hatch drain tubes in the corners plugging up. Otherwise a great car. Looking for a nice 93 ZR-1 now. Good luck!
Hello Jeff, I own a C4 Corvette also, and I was told by a Corvette master mechanic, that when you turn the ignition you should wait five seconds for the computer to load all the way before you start the engine. I noticed that you put the key in and turned it and cranked it too fast without waiting 5 seconds, and I was told that’s not a good thing to do with C4 Corvettes!
A previous owner of our 86 Corvette put on plastic piece with the C4 emblem on it over the warning light upper right of the radio. Any idea on to get it off?
Buy a replacement part super cheap. On ebay there's a seller by the username jhn317. He makes some awesome interior replacement parts for the early c4. That's one of the parts he has and it's only $20 shipped free. I wanted my 88 interior to look brand new so I bought all new replacement interior plastic pieces that he sells. I even bought new 93 seats unblemished from him for $360 shipped!!! They weren't original gm seats but they're look and feel great. I definitely recommend him. Only thing left I'm waiting to buy from him is a replacement ashtray door. Those are unfortunately not in stock yet.
How difficult is the weather strip/trim piece that goes to hell on almost all of these, on the outside window sills on the doors? One of the cars I've been eyeing has pretty big pieces apparently cracked/broken off as the rubber (or whatever it is) gets brittle and cracks over the decades.
I'd almost bet those are held on with clips and you just pry it up (gently). They couldn't be that evil and make you take the glass out just to get at it. Lol Try to find a UA-cam video on it. I just had to replace a rear door window glass on my Mercedes, I know different car, but still, I can't imagine any other way for them to install that piece.
@@wernerdanler2742 I hope you're correct. Having grown up in Detroit, however, and seeing some of the more ridiculous "features" of various US automakers' engineering marvels, one should always be prepared for the possibility that yes, they COULD be that evil! lol
Hey, I recently bought a 1989 corvette 6 speed manual but I’ve noticed that since I got it it is very hard to shift and the clutch is really heavy is this normal?
Before you mentioned it, I was thinking about whether it would be a good idea to put the top on right away, or not. Maybe it would 'smoosh' the seal into the best shape for mating the two. Maybe it would smoosh the seal out of its proper shape and position. So, I wonder: Did you chose to let it cure first, based on Eckler's advice?
Right after I finished filming the video , I actually changed my mind and thought it probably made more sense to put the roof on and let the adhesive cure that way so that’s what I ended up doing. It was the 3M instructions for the adhesive that said to let it cure for 24 hrs.
@@ReynoldsRides Maybe the trick is to put the roof on briefly to 'set' the seal, and maybe not screw it down, then remove it and let the adhesive cure. It's hard to get one of these seals on perfectly, by hand.
I really enjoy when I see someone that is so Passionate with their C4 Corvette....Very underrated cars I love mine............
Me too!

Thank you sir. I really appreciate that.
Weather stripping looks great, I have a 1987 c4 , that’s on my to do list, nice 89 c4 you have😎💯🔥👍🏾
Nice work as usual . That adhesive you used is my mortal enemy in that , for me , it's hard to work with .
Hey I have an identical Dark Metallic Blue 89 corvette targa! In my opinion the best looking c4 in the best year
Thats exactly what I need to do to my 87' Vette..Good Video..Guy! !

Mine are cracked/broken too but I’ve been procrastinating fixing them because it doesn’t look fun.😬
@@ReynoldsRides Yeah; seems it would require removing the door panel AND potentially the window too. That's gotta be the worst project ever.
