And welcome back to another Instalment In my 'Missing' mini series, a show where we take a roster of characters from a particular MK, analyse each of them one by one, and then figure out where they could be In the present!
The new era features a plethora of returning faces but ones incredibly altered for that of the present, some which are featured in game and playable on the roster, where as their are others merely mentioned, or In some rare cases, not at all featured In the era.
So today with us having disected the Reboot trilogy as well as the 3D trilogy, lets turn our gaze to what i would say Is the black sheep of the MK games, Mortal Kombat 4!

I just noticed that Geras specifically says, "its maker is powerless". What I interpret from that is Shinnok does indeed exist somewhere, however Liu Kang completely stripped him of his powers, therefore the amulet shouldn't exist.
also despite Kronika’s claims of erasing Raiden from her new era, i don’t think the keeper of time can erase a soul from ever existing. This is proven by the fact that Liu Kang didn’t simply just erase Shang, Quan Chi, or Shao Kahn from existing and it’s because he can’t but he can strip them powerless, like he did with Shinnok.
@@omarxperezHe did just that in the ending of MK1. Granted it was just one version of them, but still.
The only characters that seem to have been erased completely from the timeline are Kronika through death and Cetrion who hasn’t been referenced at all in MK1. Erron Black probably lived in the past before MK 1’s story began and he died either naturally or from a gunfight and not be around anymore since he never met Shang Tsung who gave him something to make him live longer than he really should have. Torr I’m thinking is now a separate being and can live without Ferra. Kai is probably one of the nameless students at the Wushu Academy. Skarlet as we know her might not exist since she was the creation of Shao Kahn.
@@kenthuang436 Kai was mentioned in intro dialogue as "Master Kai", meaning he's now in a teacher role at the academy
Can someone tell me where the notion that Shinnok was just flat out stripped from existence come from? Like most people, that’s what I have been under the impression of. But now that I think about it, I can’t remember what it was in the story that suggested that that might be the case? Like was something said or was something alluded to that suggested that? I haven’t seen the entire story mode in full since shortly after the game came out, so I forgot some of the smaller details.
I’d love to see Reiko after how he tamed Omaga.
Fujin should return - but also Kung Jin and Hotaru finally deserves a comeback IMO.
I really think Mortal Kombat 4 is not nearly as bad as people say it is. I loved the game and it did introduce some very important characters.
Characters like Kai, or Jarek. 😂
Mk4 is my favorite mk along with mkx mk mythologies shaolin monks and also mk3 2 and mk6

I think Shinnok in the new era should be a cult leader who proclaims he is a fallen elder god and leads his followers into believing he has devine power and once ruled the netherrealm.

What happened to Lucifer in the current mortal Kombat timeline ?
Well me might not exist in this timeline since he’s such an obscure character but if he does then I guess he still rules the nether realm possibly
Seeing how shinnok don't exist in this time-line, I'd imagine he's chilling doing his own thing since there's nobody that's gonna challenge him for rule of the netherrealm

It hurts that Fujin wasn't in this game, especially how and well received he was in the Aftermath expansion. He and Raiden should've been the new Shaolin Monks, especially since Raiden replaced Lui Kang as Earthrealm's champion. Having a brotherly duo as the main characters would've been awesome. It will be kinda weird if they make HIM a HER for no reason at all.
Do you think Shinnok could still be alive in Titan Shang’s universe but still trapped in the netherrealm and that’s where shinnok’s amulet came from?
I really want to see Kai return playable and have him be interesting & useful in the overall story.

Kai I imagine is a student at the Wushu Academy and is more interested in training right now than saving realms. Jarek was basically Kano with a different face. He really isn’t that memorable.

A video about characters that were never playable, but you think might possibly playable in future MK games or DLC (including Kameo) would be a great video.
Clear as day, nrs needed to set the stages for 13 in various ways to keep us guessing even though they killed the pacing with early access Armageddon. What hurts the most though is, theirs no mysteries as far as we can investigate. If anything Im actually happy for kai becoming a master at the wu shi, it means he wasn't entirely abandoned. Actually... their is one mystery remaining since we do have a multiverse. Will the one being that devoured the elder gods have a much higher chance of appearing in a timeline to devour all? Imo its the only theory i got that can beat a titan
I think it would be interesting for a Special Forces character, either new or re-imagined, to be introduced as a direct foil to Nitara's efforts to kidnap people from Earthrealm as a food supply
Or D’Vorrah suddenly showing up to make Earthrealm a new place for the Hive.
Hype for new stages to come in the next installments of MK1 moving forward.
A truly hell’ish looking Neatherrealm stage would look amazing with this gens graphics.

I’ve honestly wanted Kai and Fujin back for so long. Fujin was at the top of my list until mk11 but I’d still want him to return in a game that’s actually fun to play… and kai and li mei were my most wanted characters for mk1 so here’s hoping lol

I think that characters such as Fujin, Kung Jin, Tremor and the black dragons should make a return to the roaster. Fujin could be a general/champion in edenia with the role of protecting the realm, Kung Jin a promising marksman, Tremor a nomad of outworld and Kano, Eron Black and maybe Kabal be part of a mercenary group tasked with getting rid of Kenshi, Jax could make a comeback as a profesional MMA fighter or even Johnny's sparing partener, Bo Rai Cho could become a elder of the Shirai Rayu/Lin Quei and even Takeda could come back with the reason of him finishing his training (maybe even by Bo Rai Cho in the timeline)
Shinnok could be just an outworldler like Quan chi.

I always thought that Quan Chi was creating another revenant (Shao Kahn) in his fortress since we can see his helmet and hammer in the stage.
Plus he almost turns Johnny into one in a flashback
A gender bent fujin honestly sounds kinda interesting, it even shows us in mk11 what a possible take on the character could look like at 12:28. And it honestly looks pretty cool

And besides they will definitely bring Back Shinnok he’s too important and had a big impact in the franchise that he will comeback
In the intro dialogue between Homelander Vs Reiko, Shao Light had mention that he defeated the dragon king Onaga.

9:24 with kung lao I wish they carried on with the great Kung Lao story line like having the great Kung Lao become the next earth realm champion and have him be the titular protagonist for mk1 would have been so cool tbh but instead we got Raiden and eventually fujin replacing liu kang and kung lao with a slight twist
10:56 I think it is possible for that intro dialogue to be canon whilst also having the lin kuei still kill smoke's family by making Jarek and ex Lin Kuei member who was the one who killed smoke's family but left the clan to join the black dragon..

I’m split on the suggestion that Fujin has been gender swapped to be Raiden’s sister, I can understand how because he’s a slender and feminine looking man but I don’t see any reason why they would do it. On the other hand, some dialogue conversations with Kung Lao suggests he may be romantically interested with Raiden’s sister and given how responsible, patient, and passionate Fujin was in prior iterations, it does seem that being a romantic partner would help flesh out Kung Lao as a character. I’m probably just overthinking it but I hope it’s not a real thing.

About Shinnok: I think in the new era that Liu Kang probably gave a new origin to Shinnok, one that never saw him rise to power as first Elder God and then ruler of Netherrealm. Shinnok's amulet though may have been smuggled in from either a previous timeline or an alternate one since the multiverse became a thing in MK.
New Era Shinnok could be a thing in the future though thanks to the amulet or an alternate timeline Shinnok could be a reality. Hell Titan Shinnok could be a reality in future MK installments. We just have to see what NRS does next.

All these characters will in future games we just need to wait we can have em all at once IMO
i know that the devs said that mirror matches arent necessarily canon but the way i see it, when a character gives a statement about a character off screen that contradicts what we know, that character is from an alternate timeline. jarek did not kill OUR smokes parents but maybe in another timeline, he did. bo rai cho isnt OUR outworld emperor but somewhere in the multiverse he is. so on and so forth. so imo when we talk about what is "canon" we should remember that there are infinite universes in mk1 and maybe something isnt true in our universe but it could be true elsewhere

Tanya has already been done before with both deception and mkx and even now in mk1 but Kai and Jarek have not returned and I think it is time to bring them back give them a chance they need it even meat should come back and get his own story I mean blaze did for Armageddon so why can’t meat? Lol

PERFECTLY embodies NRS writing team to a T; once they get brand new interesting ideas they scrap them reboot and go back to MK 1-3.

MK should have at least 3 generations worth of MK characters on their roster; but they always hit the reset button once Onga is near and it's annoying. What happened to Taven after Armageddon???
How did Shao Khan win Armageddon and escape Onaga???
Where was Onaga in the NRS era
We will never know as those timelines are and potholes have been scrapped.
My advice dont get your hopes up for some characters making an appearance
I actually believe that not everyone except Raiden and Shao had died in Armageddon as Liu Kang is still stuck in spirit form and only his physical body was killed and he needed it to be fuller brought back to life and he couldn’t do anything after Zombie Liu Kang died. Taven and Daegon are also most likely alive because their bodies were nowhere to be seen on the Pyramid. Khamelon is also missing from the Pyramid as well and it is possible that she had become invisible and just waiting to attack Shao Kahn the very first opening she saw as she would be blindsiding him as he’d think no one was left to challenge him. It makes sense as Khamelon’s main motivation in life was to kill Shao Kahn in vengeance for killing off the Saurians and using Reptile as a pawn. She had no real beef with any of the other characters so why would she fight and kill any of them at the Pyramid? All she would need to do is go into camouflage mode and carefully sneak up the other side of the Pyramid which shouldn’t be too hard as she is reptilian and can easily scale the walls without anyone noticing and just blend in with a wall at the top.
Something thats concerned me is Quan Chi mentioning "Sisterhood of Shadow" what if theres something else in that role perhaps Cetrion? Idk if because Kronika is gone,but what if the sisterhood of shadow belongs to Cetrion who is the fallen god in this timeline?
Fujin is probably Raiden's sister and Shinnok probably don't exist if he does he'll be a mortal like Raiden also why is Reiko on the thumbnail he does exist we see his face in 4k

Not only missing Character's, but where are the game mode's? Still No the much requested Conquest mode or krypt mk11 style or mini games? Better Customisation options? Where is Much of the Game? Unofficial/Official! Developers have No intention of implementing any of the mode's I mentioned peeps! Only DLC'S and Cartoon expansion! Pathetic
Ive always said that Fujin would be PERFECT for mk1. Imagine him as a kameo. Him keeping the opponent from being airborne. Similar to jax ground pound but in the air?🫣
I wonder if Fujin is still Raiden's sibling. I don't get how Raiden was born around the same time and place as Kung Lao unless he's taken Liu Kang's place. Like surely there is still a mortal Liu Kang and if not could it be that Raiden literally took his place like MK1 Raiden's parents could be who were originally Liu Kang's or am I thinking too much??? also I don't get why Liu Kang gave Shang Tsung and Quan Chi a nobody life but not Shao Kahn.

I liked how MK1 toned down the White Male toxic masculinity and turned all the female characters into tough girl bosses with zero character flaws. Mileena's queerness being a major plot point was top tier storytelling 🔥

They made their first appearance in Mortal Kombat Mythologies Sub Zero as story bosses.
Their official debut on the roster is exactly Mortal Kombat 4.
