You all are missing the point. A lot of team USA’s game plan was built around interior physical defense against Serbia. Interior defense wise Tatum is not better than Lebron, Embiid, AD or Bam so he’s not playing ahead of them. Second point, in a tight game which the game was for 2 1/2 quarters you need offensive output. KD is offensively better than Tatum and Team USA best offensive weapon so he’s going to play ahead of Tatum

The only person I can see Tatum getting play over and having real impact is Booker since the starting lineup is so small, but Booker has been better. Tatum didn’t play well in the exhibition games either. He really just provided solid defense which Booker did too.

And then by not breaking up AD and Bam, you add Tatum and Jrue Holiday to that. Elite elite defense. Booker helps the spacing.

You all are missing the point. A lot of team USA’s game plan was built around interior physical defense against Serbia. Interior defense wise Tatum is not better than Lebron, Embiid, AD or Bam so he’s not playing ahead of them. Second point, in a tight game which the game was for 2 1/2 quarters you need offensive output. KD is offensively better than Tatum and Team USA best offensive weapon so he’s going to play ahead of Tatum
Tatum is not a guard so he’s not going a rotational piece for Curry and Edwards. That would be Holiday and Derrick white, with Booker being a guard also, so will be in the rotation Fundamentally , Tatum really isn’t as useful to team USA winning. There's a generational component to this too. This is the last hurrah for Lebron, Steph, and Durant. The 3 of them are gonna play a lot of minutes and 2 of those guys play Tatum's position. Having said that, Tatum is absolutely one of the 5 best players on this team so it is weird. I suspect we'll see a difference other games.

This team is there to win. not to sooth anybody's ego or protect anybody's brand. Fact is Kerr's rotation worked. Did it not? Tatum will play. Had this team lost and Tatum did not play , then there would be something to talk about. It's a team loaded from top to bottom with stars. Not everybody will get the time they want every game, and possibly not play at all. I guess wining is not enough for some people. Everybody has a role to play and must be ready when their number is called. It's called a team.

The only person I can see Tatum getting play over and having real impact is Booker since the starting lineup is so small, but Booker has been better. Tatum didn’t play well in the exhibition games either. He really just provided solid defense which Booker did too.

He knows that he needs to be careful and keep the big thing, the big thing, which is winning a gold medal for Team USA. Any minor distractions can crater that quickly. With that said, you really can't defend not playing Tatum in a 30 pt blowout. You just can't. Hopefully, it's not too big a deal. I think the question should be more about the 3 guard lineup. I thought the perfect combination to platoon is Steph, Ant, KD, Lebron, Embiid. Even when Embiid isn’t hitting shots, he screens curry open the best by far and they need to run it more. He gets Lebron wide open with screens. And then by not breaking up AD and Bam, you add Tatum and Jrue Holiday to that. Elite elite defense. Booker helps the spacing.
