It’s part of our PE subject 🤣🤣 we sacrificed watching TV shows after class for this one🤣🤣 that’s the only reason we can go home late without being scolded by our parents 🤣 “we have practice Ma”😂
This was a surprise Mr. Ovela. Never in my wildest dream did I expect you would stumble upon this video of our University. It was truly a spectacle, witnessing this first hand with my very own eyes. It was rainy that day, but Freshmen to Sophomore students from all college departments participated, and delivered such amazing all-out performance! Glad you enjoyed it! Love from Bicol University and Philippines 🥰
In our school during the foundation day/week we had to perform a field demonstration, a cheer dance, and a festival street dancing... it was torture during the practice and rehearsal but at the end of the activity we were having so much fun and it is so worth it especially when you win the trophy 🎉🎉🎉 those are memories worth treasuring with your friend and classmates❤
Well funny or not, in this event attendance is a must! There's a plus point grade in the attendance. So whether you like it or not, you really need to join. 😂 Kidding aside, but most of us whole heartedly join this kind of event because this is such a memorable and enjoyable experience for as a student. You are not a Philippine student if you didn't join any mass dance events in your school for once in your whole life. :)
We called that as 'Field demonstration'... During my highschool times... We performed our routine during our School foundation day... And, my 4 years in High School, I received a full standing ovation once (for good synchoronization and decipline of our group - the whole high school department (400 students))!
Wow! I graduated from this University. It is really a super huge university with different departments & colleges! Super proud to be from this University. Mabuhay!
From pre-schoolers up to tertiary level, music should be taught to students because music is a universal language, besides Philippines is a land of the greatest talents.
We used to have yearly competitions of field demos in grade school where we had had interesting formations, and I used to wonder how the teachers came up with the creative concepts and costume designs year after year 😁, I so salute them now 👌👌👌🤍🤍🤍
Hataw is a thing in Albay/Legazpi City. I worked there and hataw is an exercise dance routine. Sometimes, there are contest. Sometimes, it is a mass demo. When I return to Camarines Norte, we don't have it here but Filipinos have the culture of mass demonstration (from traditional folk dances to modern stuff).
By the way, Mr. Ovela, the acronym BU in BU Hataw means Bicol University Hataw. We're glad you featured the performance of Bicol University students in your reaction video. Thank you so much and God bless you always. Mabuhay Bicolano! Mabuhay ang Pilipino!🇵🇭😄😇😘♥️🤸💃🕺
Thanks for sharing and reacting to this, Ovela! Don't you worry.. You're not the only who does not know this event exists. And I am from the Philippines! Props to the organizers, choreographers, and of course, the students. This is awesome!
This is a field demonstration. We are doing this also in our school especially during Founder's week celebration. I remember when I was in high school the whole football field were full of students, thousands of students practicing maybe more than a week of preparation before the performance. Shoutout to the PE teachers who were making extra effort to discipline thousands during practice and come the day of performance, it was very fun and fulfilling for the students and teachers. Field demonstration is very normal in the Philippines.
Yes, Bicol University is a very large university and one of the best when it comes to academics. When you're from there that's means you're smart and intelligent. Thanks.
Hi Ovela now i know that my Country Philippines is different and more Fun in the Philippines. I'm very proud us a Filipino,i love my Country. And thank you so much, i can feel that you love my Country Philippines.
we even have that as competition between schools, and mind you that was when I was in the elementary grade, imagine teaching hundreds of pupils doing these coordinated dance 😁
This channel goes above and beyond; I remember when you first started making reaction videos with Filipino performers, and now you're making videos like this. I hope you will take into consideration making a reaction video for the "Bench yelling and cheering competition" on some of the campuses here in the Philippines. The Philippine entry in the "Otani Cheers competition or presentation" is something else you might want to look into too.✨🇵🇭
Oohhh my Gosh! Thank you for reacting to the epic culminating activity of Bicol University freshmen students. This is the culmination of our PE class for the 1st semester. This is done during the Bicol University week where we celebrate the foundation of our University. This is one of the highlights of the said celebration. I was once a dancer of BU Hataw year 2011. In our time and I know is done until now, each PE class of all freshmen students need to memorize the routine then we will have a day of practice for blockings and all that's why they are so in sync. Our performance was also graded. 😅 Thank you for appreciating Ovela. 😍 This vid brought back memories when I am still a freshie of this university. So nostalgic. ❤ More power to your channel Ovela. ❤
We have these also 😂😂😂. Field demonstration. Sometimes we do these as competation or just a simple performance. Well, we had beautiful and memorable school days.
Im so happy to be part of BU HATAW. It is very enjoyable. Hataw is done every year. It is required in our PE subject. You are part of the hataw if you are a first year and second year student. But students that studies PE are allowed to join the hataw until 4th year college.
This is part of the Bicol University week celebration during the 50th celebration participated by all freshman students of the campus,it is done yearly during BU week celebration called HATAW, proud alumni here❤
Remembered my high schools days "field demonstration" but our choreography involved tumbling and headstand. We had weeks of practice during PE class! Fun memories!
If we only had camera phones back in the days, we could have captured our field demos and ours in Baste used to be a competition of folk dances or hip hop demos from grade 3 to 6. 😂❤
Yes you can enjoy watching Fipinos students and during a town, city, provincial day or fiesta, thats the biggest gathering where they perform synchronized and singing in harmony
Special events like school anniversary gives birth to this kind of stuff. Sometimes its a whole class level sometimes its a whole campus. At my school the opening of. Our sport season, we call Intrams, there is a dance competition between year levels. So everybody was forced to dance😂😂😂😂😂 we practice an hour a day for at least two weeks
we started having a field demonstration starting at kindergarden .. singing is encouraged even at a young age .. that is why most Filipinos are talented .. I remember participating in field demonstrations in high school lol the boys and girls are partnered together and its interpretative dance where the guy classmates need to lift the girls up and thinking of it now its an emotional love dance 🤣
A proud golden baby who's one of the dancer in my University's 50th Anniversary and now is a Bicol University Alumni here ❤ watching this brings back a lot of happy memories. 😇
I think all schools here in the Philippines do this yearly. But for my school we do different performances per class and different topics per grade or year level. Some do exercise, some do folk dances while others do dance sports.
As I was saying a once teacher in the Philippines, even if you have thousand of students for a practice you can just easily manage them because Filipino students are easy to handle. I hope I can also experience that one here in USA…
In Angat Buhay Philippines today, and Angat Buhay tomorrow, the wings of love around the globe can be utilized by 100 devoted celebrities of Leni Gerona. In harmony to show the world the joy and happiness that can touches your hearts minds, body and soul!l " Don't worry, Be Happy!
We call these performances as field demonstrations.. I'm now 62 years old, & I've participated in mass demonstrations like this from kindergarten to high school & the first two years of college. Take note that each of the participant tries to be in line, whether vertically or horizontally & diagonally as well.
agree with everyone here! field demonstrations like this is a thing in our schools. like we do this every year from grade 4 until 4th year highschool. and practice takes a lot of time under the heat of the sun. we also do this during our intramurals and its called cheerleading competition. each grade level competing with each other. We use pompoms too but ours come in two different colors. so from a far it looks like little pixels of a picture. and we do a lot of formations and cool transitions. it's always fun doing and watching these. brings back good memories. 😊
Philippine Schools dont care about social anxiety when its PE time every students should participate dance/sing or whatever it is. No performance no grade. I have a pretty very bad anxiety dropped PE once bec of activity like this and took the subject during summer where theres less activity.
I graduated from elementary to high school, every year, we have playground presentation, especially when there is festival, sometimes we practice until midnight
Those students were only freshmen and sophomores from every colleges in our university imagine if the Juniors and the seniors were also dancing.... it's also a fun tradition of our university if you're already in there you wont even care if there are so many people you would probably just dance your heart out it's really fun
IT is usually done during School Foundation days , it is normal And the number of participants Will depend on the no of students of the School or University or college
We don't usually use balloons as props. For it may damage the environment. It may add to pollution. We care about our nature too even we do enjoy the party. Viewer from bacolod city phils.
I missed doing this! During our time, it is called "BU Hataw". If I remember it right, I think it is the culminating activity requiring the participation of the students taking up the Physical Education Subject.
They are all 1st year and 2nd-year college students of Bicol University. "HATAW" is a dance performance every opening of the "BU WEEK" to show the organization and camaraderie of every Bueño. It's a yearly tradition of the university to celebrate its founding year. And the video you're reacting to is from its 50th golden founding anniversary way back in 2019 that's why you've seen a lot of gold hehe.😁
I guess it's their Foundation day...we do the same way back during our school days.. we have a field demonstration at grand stand during Foundation day of our school...❤
Omg my college was the same. Immediate passing grade if you participate in massive school events like this but grueling practice and perfect attendance is non negotiable. The practice actually caused my knees to weaken that i fell on the last step in my house and I broke something. Had to get a cast and in a wheelchair and x rays and doctors notes. Funny enough, I wanted to continue coz the passing grade was so tempting but my dad, the doctor, and the school dean had to stop me coz i wasnt recovering. I had to repeat the year but the school just gave me paper and powerpoint projects enmasse to compensate.
In war and in peace music can be played, let the performers and the audience sings and dance in synch, to be promoted, especially by Angat Buhay NGO celebrities: Regine Velasquez ( The Wings of Love ) the rules are the same: One song, 10, a hundred (100) songs, a thousand ( 1,000 ). Practice, practice makes perfect!
I was gonna share to you another link of one of this from year 2022., but the message won't go through. You will see the meaning of BU Hataw on this video. Maybe link is not allowed so here is the title of the video BU HATAW 2022 - AMAZING BICOL UNIVERSITY, Legazpi City, Albay Philippines. I live somewhere near this school. Thanks so much for reacting to this video =)
Hey Ovela you might love The Dancing Inmates from Cebu Philippines as well. It was old but the best Dancing inmates I have ever seen. I will send you a link.
The participants were students from the colleges of Bicol University. Most of them were freshmen and sophomores, I believe. BU Hataw is done to commemorate the university's founding anniversary. Correct me if I am wrong, co-BU alumni.
Aaaaw, all schools have what we call as Field Demonstration.. I miss my elementary and high school Field Demonstration. everyone dancing at the same time.
Haha most of us don’t have social anxiety because we were trained from the day we could walk🤣 like the words that come from our parents are “dance dance” “sing sing” while we are being presented to our relatives during family gathering🤣 imagine being simba in the “Lion King”😂😂😂 it’s like a curse and a gift at the same time but in a funny way🤣🤣
There are times we hated it during practice days but then during performance day we give our heart with all our might . 😂😂😂
Because we are not practicing once. We are practicing 3 times a day and 5 times in school days until the presentation day. Hahahhhahaha
even when it 🌧️
No choice ka pa kasi kasama yang hataw sa requirements para pumasa ka sa PE subject🤣
It’s part of our PE subject 🤣🤣 we sacrificed watching TV shows after class for this one🤣🤣 that’s the only reason we can go home late without being scolded by our parents 🤣 “we have practice Ma”😂

Oh... This is BU? My niece was in it!
This alone explains why Filipinos are one of the most friendly, patient, and tolerance people in the world. This required patience, no doubt.
you forgot marites and judgemental...
