This was most excellent! Thank you Al...my father was born in 1941...hes still with us. He also is an electrical engineer, worked for Bell helicopter in Dallas, Tx before and after I was born. Wonderful share. Just wonderful. Thanks a lot❤❤
You are so blessed to have such great neighbors to help and enrich your life! Pray that the good things that you learn from Al and others, that you will honor them as a legacy of love to pass on!!!
So much gold here. It’s really neat that you’ve held on to all these photos for all these years Al. You were such a cute kid too man. So many interesting stories. Love the music and b-roll. This is a fantastic film Diego.
This brings tears to my eyes as I never really got to talk to my dad that much I think we just drifted apart over the years and whe he pasted away I wish I had spent more time with him. ( he was 96)
Hi Diego; great video! Got me all nostalgic. Al was a cute little shaver. His mother was very pretty and his dad was a real man. I agree with Al, I wouldn’t like a development at all. Thanks for this story. God bless Al!
A great idea to preserve those memories and the stories that can be perpetually shared with our future generations. I loved hearing Al's stories and look forward to hearing more.
Thanks for spending the time with Al to capture this story. It's preserving history. My husband has used Adobe's Podcast AI feature to fix weak audio on some videos. I don't know if you've ever heard of that before, but it might help us hear Al a little better in future videos like this. Another thing he does is uses the audio recorder on a phone and has it really close to whoever is speaking. We love the work you're doing. My husband Mark has a small but growing channel so we're getting a lot of practice with this sort of thing :)
me and al have the same birthday that made me happy i was born sep 10 1999 im 24 now i atumbled across this channel on youtube im glad i did al's presance feels so warm and welcoming
Al is such a sweet man. Life lessons and all. I will get my own of grid home, been a life goal for 10 years now. Just have to finish up my physician internship and find some proper property. It have to contain a year around river now lol.
Great work!! Diego , I met you a few years ago in NC during a DB cooper coin hunt. My son and I “Agent Mad Max” have since moved back to my home town.. As we watch this video we were both shocked to hear Portsmouth Naval Shipyard! That’s about 5 miles from us! Thank you for this. I lost my father a few years ago and Al has been a great influence on me and been a great example of an older generation role model for my son.. Amazing and thank you .
When I was in the Marine corps in 1985 I was stationed at the nuke sub base in Portsmouth I had special duty as a gate guard there for 18 months then I returned to Lejune to finish my 4 year enlistment I liked Portsmouth
This is such an awesome video. I'm fascinated by Al. Out of curiosity, I think I found his childhood home in Stoneham. It looks very similar except at some point, the screened room was completely closed in.
Love hearing more about Al’s growing up. Started seeing you & Al on Adv Agents, but love following along with you, Diego. Y’all are just salt of the earth folks and I appreciate the wholesome and thoughtful content. Questions for Al (if you’re able to follow up or write back). 1. Would he have considered his parents wealthy for this time frame of his life? I would assume electrical engineer may have brought a higher wage. I think the size of the houses a long with taking a trip to beach or lake made me wonder this. And maybe a new bike. 😊 I’m just comparing to my grandparents upbringing as they were farmers in TN born around 1932. So, it could be the difference in timing of it, but also vocation. Just curious. I’ll def keep watching these. Look forward to more. Thanks, Diego!
Awesome video. YT has a lot of downsides but one of it's many episodes is giving voice to people like Al who we never would have known about. I have as buddy in Maine just like Al. He said the heck with society and moved off grid. He is a wonderful man.
His story is fascinating. Having it documented like this is an amazing gift for his family. You did an amazing job. Loved watching and listening. I spent almost 20 years researching my family history for all of my siblings and their children. Then benefits from the photos and documents and records changed my family’s life in so many positive ways.
Fascinating background Al has , he comes from a very talented family, and what sounds like a fun family, Thanks diego for having this meet with Als about his life growing up, He has some real family treasures in his cabin very cool. Loved loved the pictures always nice to look at them. and so interesting I was smiling throughout, what an epic young life he had and still has . Thanks Al for sharing i loved this and seeing the various pictures
Started coming across your videos in the past few days and seeing them in all sort of order, but Al is one great man, his stories are all worthy to be told, can't wait for more of him, a truly fascinating man
New to the channel, Im a EE geek so i initially came for the water wheel video and hydroelectric off-grid power, stayed for you and Al's touching friendship!!! Looking forward to hearing the rest of your story Al!
Thank You for sharing this! I have loved Al's story, for the story itself but also that it reminds me of my Grandparents. Al lived in New Hampshire, and I live in Maine... so lots of similar stories for sure. It's interesting to see what folks developed back then simply to make their lives easier, and obviously it is carried on in Al's current house. My Great Grandparents were from New Hampshire as well, so again lots of great memories. I will look forward to seeing your future videos , thanks again for sharing!
Great video, Al is a national treasure! I actually grew up in Wakefield, the next town over from Stoneham. I'm curious if Al's parents bought their Plymouths at LeSaffre Chrysler/Plymouth in Melrose. My parents always bought Plymouths there for 30ish years. The Paper House is in Rockport. I remember visiting it when I was a kid. There was a great little penny candy shop in Rockport that I loved as a kid! The house on Dewitt Road is still there, but the garage has been turned into a room, and the porch has been sealed.
thanks for documenting Al's life. you might want to get with somebody who creates real documentaries and compile your series into something great for the masses to view. he's an interesting character that i'm sure everybody would love.
Laughed inside about Al not liking cub scouts because of its “organized” nature. That was totally me as a kid 😂. Boring when all your time is controlled. No time to really experience the true freedom and peace of the outdoors.
those keepsakes, lucky to still have that old manilla envelope. im 50 and have a lock of blonde hair from 2 years old that looks like it was just cut at the barber. went the picard way in my 20's, so its strange seeing remnants of when i had a head full of hair. and umm, mom, did you have to keep that stack of speeding tickets from when i just started driving as a teen. i learned my lesson, no tickets for 30 years ;)
I was so actually about to cry! So relieved when I clicked on the video! Super surprised because Al is in better shape than many who are half a century younger!!! So happy he's doing well❤️
This was most excellent! Thank you Al...my father was born in 1941...hes still with us. He also is an electrical engineer, worked for Bell helicopter in Dallas, Tx before and after I was born. Wonderful share. Just wonderful. Thanks a lot❤❤
Man, what an outstanding friendship.
You are so blessed to have such great neighbors to help and enrich your life! Pray that the good things that you learn from Al and others, that you will honor them as a legacy of love to pass on!!!

I loved hearing Al's stories and look forward to hearing more.
this is so awesome. it pains me to the core to see this video that you put so much effort didn't get picked up by the algorithm.

I got the feeling Diego was politely happy when this ended.
I've been meaning to ask, did Al build the house he's in now?
Hope you're well and keeping fit.
