    Back in the 90s, my grandparents were throwing away a little TV similar to this, and 15 year old me stole it away into my room without anyone noticing. I played hours of unsanctioned SNES on it. Not to mention many late night BBC comedies. Great memories.

    Just blown away at seeing a TV that size playing a console from the late 90's and good. These vids that you do are great. You seem to bring almost anything that must would discard as non functional back to life. Amazing job 🔥

    I actually have a Sony Playstation 3d TV that's been sitting broken in its box since 2014 (worked for 3 months before burning out). Would love to see if you could fix it

    Omg. This video just unlocked one heck of a core memory for me. I remember as a kid, I watched TV sometimes on my mom's? grandmother's?grandfather's? (dunno' who it belonged to) portable handheld one. I want to say it was the Zenith BT044S. Either that or a Casio one. Either way, such an amazing little thing. I miss it now. Lol..

    In the before times, even before the NES or Gameboy were a thing. Now everyone has a superior screen on their smart phones and tablets. I still have my Sega Nomad (that still works!) that was a constant companion during road trips as a kid. No longer have the battery charger and stack of rechargeable AA's that I had to keep in a backpack so that it would live for longer than 2 hours at a time.

    I can only imagine the satisfaction you get when you complete a project like this... (Especially when it works perfectly!)
    although I'd imagine you get pretty tired from burning up so much elbow grease with the disassembly, cleaning, and scrubbing!
    Has there ever been many projects that you've had to refuse because you knew that they were beyond repair or have you attempted some hopeless causes just to get a look inside certain items?

    Beautiful job! It looks nearly brand new!
    I love giving my god kids things like this to see how long it takes them to figure it out. They did well enough with a landline telephone but got stuck at the end because they didn’t know anyone’s phone number. The Walkman we tried later was a total no-go.

    For those who don't understand why MANY people prefer the original console to modern emulators, its nostalgia. If you have fond memories playing this console as a child, nothing but an original console will do. It's a great feeling to relive happier times.

    Very nice item! It would help to remind old technology for young people without using a lot of place, like the NES and SNES Classic Mini (I think that Nintendo should make a real NES and SNES mini replicas, not based on emulator; with small controllers and small cartridges that work like the regular ones). I also thought about little boombox that play microcassettes and little VCR, which would play small VHS-like shaped cassettes.

    • @Chaos89P
      @Chaos89P 2 роки тому +1

      I don't know about small controllers. They can get uncomfortable to use rather quickly.

    • @michasj9
      @michasj9 2 роки тому

      @@Chaos89P Most of "classic mini" consoles have only smaller case (proportionally scaled downward to about 50-60% of original size), most of them don't use cartridges and the slot is only a dummy, but some of third-party NES replica are also able to use smaller cartridges (eg. NESPi). Controllers in almost all "classic mini" consoles are in the same size as original ones, but there is a one exception: Japanese version of NES Classic Mini (Famicom Classic Mini) which also has the 40% smaller controllers like the console's case. European and American versions have only smaller case. I think that the controllers should also be smaller (Famicom Classic Mini controllers are much smaller than regular Famicom controllers and they're playable), becuase I think that they should have the same comparitive size (controller's to console's size ratio) as the original. Mini replica should look (with controllers, cartridges and other accessories) like the original on the photo, when we don't have any other items around.

    • @Chaos89P
      @Chaos89P 2 роки тому

      @@michasj9 I think I finally know what you're getting at. I completely forgot that the Famicom Mini has smaller controllers as well. A 40% reduction in size really shouldn't bother adult gamers too much compared to a full size NES controller.

    The 2 cinch connectors on the top have been added by you or the former owner.
    .... are you sure ... 1981 ?!? ... I was must have been ~10years old when I bought it in the store .... and I was born in 1981.

      He does actually. He replaced a capacitor in the power supply. 6:38 is where he tests power from the cable, then power at the capacitor. When the capacitor tests badly he removes the old capacitor and solders in a new one. 7:09 After that it turns on. The rest is cleaning for good measure.
