Fyi, Barry Manilow (a famous singer in the 80's) went to the Philippines later in his career and sang one of his very early songs which was not a hit in the U.S. As he was singing it, he was surprised the crowd sang it with him. He said later that he even forgot some of the lyrics of the song but he remebered it as the crowd sang it to him. He was so happy that night that he said to the crowd "Where were you all my life, Philippines". The Filipino audience can be very tough crowd to sing to but once they love you, they really, really love you!

Man, i attended IU's concert in the philippines and her opening song SHOOKT her and her whole crew. IU later said that he couldn't even hear her own voice through the In-Ears because her mic was picking up the audience singing. She had a hard time singing the first few parts of the verses because she was evidently astounded. A similar thing happened during the Paramore concert during Misguided Ghosts where the crown opened their phone lights and sang along. At the at the latter half of the song, Hayley stopped singing and just sat there looking and basking under the crowd who did not stop singing till the end of the song. She said it was a very unique experience for them

True. IU said later when she was already in South Korea that of all the countries she had concerts in, the Philippine crowd was the best and one she wouldn't forget.
Other Kpop singers and bands basically said the same. Some even cried on stage as they became very emotional with the tremendous audience response to their concerts.

In the Philippines, idols/singers don't get fan chant, we will sing with you and dance with you. If the artist is half way into the set and feels parched and want to drink water but don't wanna ruin the vibe by stopping, all they have to do is point their mic to the crowd and we will take it from there. Do your thing, rest a bit and join when you're ready. That's how filipinos show love to the artists that are performing here.

I'm a Filipina and I moved to the Midwest. I watched Ed Sheeran in Milwaukee - and I say watched because I feel like I didn't attend a concert. It was awkward to jam or vibe and feel the music when the other people sitting close to you were busy gossiping about their other friend who's not with them (apparently their friend Brittany hooked up with their other friend's husband 😂), while they chug beer. I felt like Ed was frustrated trying to get the crowd to participate. I thought I disliked this Filipino trait of ours, treating the concert like a karaoke bar, but the energy in Philippine concert arenas is just different. When the Filipino crowd don't sing with you, it means we don't like you.

The K-pop goddess, IU (real name: Lee Ji Eun), and her entire crew, were also shocked when they first held her concert here in the Philippines. IU said she can no longer hear herself from her in-ear monitor. Imagine that, and the songs were in Korean. If not for the pandemic, they would have scheduled another concert sooner.
The Filipino crowd is just too loud that microphones can pick it out. You don't have to point a mic towards the crowd, it's just super loud. And if it happens that the concert was in an open area, or they also placed live feeds outside, Filipinos will watch, cheer, and sing regardless.
If you are a singer, dancer, solo or group, or band, the Philippines should be your #1 market and destination for concerts and fan meets. Forget about ROI and all that, you'll get it anyway, what you will only get from the Philippines is pure appreciation, pure love, pure welcome, pure gratitude, pure friendliness, you are part of the Filipino family. You'll soon realise a free concert is not enough as a “payment” (if you will) for that kind of experience. Nowhere else but here in the Philippines, with a Filipino crowd.

Yup, we don't do fanchants here, we SING THE SONGS hahahaha I mean, it really depends on what the crowd wants. They can sing or they can listen, it works either way so long as the crowd likes it, because that's what concerts are for--the artists are there for the CROWD.
It's just that, for Filipinos, concerts are literal PARTIES. We party WITH the artists. Growing up, singing has always been a way of having fun for us, regardless of whether we're good at it or not. That's one of the ways we have fun. And in a concert, the crowd should be having fun right? So we sing because that's how we have fun. Besides, singing along with a crowd makes you feel hyped like everyone's resonating on the same wavelength (kinda like how gospel church songs work)--it really feels AMAZING. If we don't do that, we feel like there's less energy in the crowd or that the artists are merely background musicians in bars or something.

some of the most satisfying filipino crowd videos comes up when you search up "day6 youth in manila" especially during the song 'shoot me' and young k comments "you guys really came to sing, huh?". right before their encore they actually also performed 4 songs (congratulations, you were beautiful, i loved you, i like you) and everybody just sang their way all through those songs (but this actually goes to a lot of day6 shows too).
i also watched quite a lot of videos of crowds from latin american countries and all would just sing entire songs and even the fanchants to the artists themselves -- truly amazing.

Filipinos know if an artist have problem on stage, hospitality and kindness kicks in so we sang along and catch them, so the artist and the its team can carry on. But in most cases, we just love to sing! haha

when Taylor Swift announced her Asian branch of the Eros tour, she specifically sent out a message to all media outlets in the Philippines about her sorrow of not coming to the country. And it had nothing to do with not wanting to come. She had no choice because there was no venue in the country large enough to host it. The next day after this announced, SM Malls (who own the Mall of Asia arena, the biggest in the country) started talking about how to increase the size.

Ok so I’ve watched tons of concerts here in Manila over the decades. Of course we always sing our hearts out esp for the new artists. But here are some of the best ones that were really memorable for me because they were famous in previous decades or something but the crowd still sang!!
    1. David Foster and Friends concert (the first one I think in 2010?), when Natalie Cole was singing I Miss You Like Crazy, whole crowd was singing and you could see David Foster was surprised. Then during Peter Cerera’s portion, David literally stopped playing the piano and just listened to the crowd. Peter already warned DF prior to the concert what’s it like coz Peter got a taste of it before
    Natalie Cole: ua-cam.com/video/AoAg6y3-t98/v-deo.html
Ruben Studdard (like the crowd was doing second voice! haha) : ua-cam.com/video/9k4yfZGzFSI/v-deo.html
Peter Cetera (David Foster stopped playing the piano to listen to the crowd) : ua-cam.com/video/r5WC8Ix9QvY/v-deo.html
    2. James Ingram. Boy he got some issues with his mic throughout the entire night but the crowd just sang along for the songs so it was cool
    3. Tears for Fears - from start to finish, the crowd was just wild you could see both Roland and Curt were so happy.
    Intro in 2010: ua-cam.com/video/FAbttWP7DdE/v-deo.html
in 2012 there was a storm but the crowd still came: ua-cam.com/video/u94cRz3RCWk/v-deo.html
    4. Barry Manilow - didn’t watch it coz I was young but my parents did in the 90s and my dad said the crowd was really singing along.

Three thumbs up for TFF and Barry Manilow. Sad thing is that there's really no proper recorded video of both... although even with the low res TFF concert videos you can feel the energy of the crowd.

      @cassyclim8 Рік тому

@@gearhead000TV That is so true. Concert producers should really think of putting together a concert video for the ones here in the Philippines haha. And I love how the singers would say nice things about the crowd in between their performances. They really love the crowd here.

You have to watch BTS 2017 Manila concert, at that time already sang Korean songs even before the concert start all the way to the end, like Cypher 4, Spring Day, the whole concert is hype epic, that’s how we do it. Concerts in Philippines a massive karaoke, singers not need to worry especially to our favorite artist we have to learn the songs beforehand or else will not enjoy it
