    I track a gen 2 manual whipple , I corner the car at 2,500 and change gear at 6,500 ( you have to say away from the limiter) pulling out of corners at those revs you can steer the car with your foot , a lower gear just lights the tyres , using lower revs solves heat soak and hood vents. Go with whipple all day long and it looks better. As Alex says it’s not about HP it’s about performance, good vid 👍

    I've had a roots for more than 10 years and have ran 10.82 at 124mph on 5 pounds, it's got super torque and response but runs out in the mid range and zero top end, currently i have a f1a94 waiting to get done, we shall see...

    Did a 3L Whipple with 132mm TB on my 10R80 2020 GT. Threw on a Reische 170 deg thermostat and FI interchiller, full exhaust plus OPG&CS I can roll race it or canyon drive it all day. Cylinder head temps no higher than 185-190 under load and I do not feel any heat soak. The low and mid range torque is awesome. Had it done when 3 years ago when it had only 3000 miles on the clock honestly hasn’t skipped a beat. Probably because it only is tuned for 661 hp at the wheels.

    The ProCharger builds more power with more RPM. You get a tune and you can pull 8k with your mustang and the ProCharger will keep you in the meat of the power. The ProCharger is more friendly on your rotating assembly cuz you aren't slamming a ton of boost on your engine at low RPM.
    The Whipple or VMP will give you great instant power. They also sound pretty good too.
    If traction is a problem the ProCharger might be better if you are worried about 0-60 times.

  • @heathwirt8919
    @heathwirt8919 Рік тому +2

    There is pluses and minuses to both, the Whipple means instant torque and power, the Procharger is more fuel efficient. If you look at the horsepower curve when the engine is revving between 6500 to 7500 RPM the horsepower is pretty close. The Whipple would be more fun to just drive around and do quick accelerations.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Рік тому

      I think the tvs is better myself. The new 2650s are very efficient and make even more badass torque than the Whipple does and they can keep up on making power too especially on a pump gas stock motor setup. They can put in work max effort as well but for an average stock motor setup the tvs is better imo.

    How about a super-low-RPM truck-oriented camshaft that really bolsters the bottom-end flow combined with a procharger? Like WWII airplane engines, the centrifugal blower would take care of the top end.
    One of the nice things about a centrifugal supercharger is that you can cam the engine for rock-bottom torque then let the supercharger flatten the torque curve all the way across the RPM band.
    The ProCharger can have a higher gear ratio/pulley put on it to immediately bolster torque across the board, also. It's easy to tune in the pressure versus RPM sense.

    • @JakeTiesler
      @JakeTiesler  Рік тому

      Yeah I like the torque boosters also!

      @@JakeTiesler Fuel mileage takes a back sat to FUN, but a low-RPM engine will get better fuel mileage than a whizzing high-RPM engine, if the gearing is changed to match it to loafing revs on the freeways.

  • @Drunken_Hamster

    Oh yeah, ProCharger all the way. Can't win without traction. Same peak power, more usable powerband, 10 speed to keep it up there when you're actually racing, more stable/less stress when normal driving, more fuel efficient.
    No downsides. If you get one with straight-cut gears, it'll even sound cool.
    Edit: well, if that's what you want, then. It's your car.

      The tvs and whipples pull plenty up top too it's not the old days when you're talking about an 03 cobra supercharger they have really came a long ways. They have killer torque and work well (especially the tvs) with a manual or stock stalled auto. You can have traction with these blowers if you have a good tire and suspension. Yea it's easier to plant a centri it's more linear and very low torque down low and on the hit.

      I’m running 661 hp at the wheels on my whipple 10r80 GT. Full bmr rear plus wavetrack differential plus 315 x 30 x r888r on rear and the thing now hooks 100% in 3rd from 45mph and stays straight. Its taken me 3 years to find this awesome street traction combo!

    With a centrifugal blower. And a manual car just change the rear gears. In my Firehawk I had 342 and went to 390 and now it’s a brutal car. I think the centrifugal is more like the NA car as far as linear smooth power. Change some gears and get in the boost quicker with a manual. Just my 2 cents

    I get the cool factor of blowing the tires off but two issues with that! One! Anytime your tires are spinning you are on the brink of losing control of the car it only takes a second! Second! Is whilst you’re blowing your tires off that car with half the power in a street application is spanking your ass because he’s moving forward and you’re looking cool spinning! A centrifugal blower works better in so many ways! It’s easier on the internal engine parts and you won’t need a full drag suspension to get the car moving! These engines are high RPM engines and you want to build boost linear with RPM! There are also much more efficient and take less horsepower to turn the blower! And the centrifuges are much cheaper too! But either way there both going to make great power I would want the usable power if I’m spending that kind of money!

      Its taken me 3 years to get good street traction on my whippled 10r80. The last mod 2 months ago solved that, its called wavetrac diff. Of course I have done the suspension and running 315 x 30 x 20 r888r tyres on back. The car stays straight even when it spins.

    Have a TT 03 cobra and love it... Also own a 2015 gt with a gen5 3.0l stage 2 whipple. Fun as hell to drive... in the process of building my 92 foxbody with a built 363ci and have a f1 pro charger for it. Im assuming it will be just as fun as the other 2 but will be able to give a personal opinion once its done and running

    Procharger or any centrifugal supercharger (ie. ESS, Vortech, Paxton, etc...) would be a better choice for road racing, roll racing, or 1/2-mile racing since it pulls like a freight train in the higher RPM range. Whipple or any positive displacement supercharger (ie. VMP, Edelbrock, Kenne Bell, etc...) would be a more fun street car and a better 1/4-mile or less drag car because of the torque advantage in the lower RPM range.

      I hate my ess tuning g3x supercharger with the g4 heat exchanger.
      Sure you get nice power...like at freaking redline.
      I want power now,not way up in the powerband.
      Centrifugal superchargers are freaking boring pos'.

      @chrism.728 Рік тому +1

      @charleshenson4183 What did I say that wasn't factual? I specified what type of supercharger for each type of racing. If you're only drag racing or only want street car, of course a positive displacement blower is going to be better due to the flat torque curve. Did you read my entire comment...lol?

    Question: What does the Whipple do inertia wise with a manual trans? My SuperCoupe back in the day seemed slow to shift and would sometimes catch a tooth when shifting.. The motor rotating inertia is increased so when dropping the accelerator to shift it doesn't seem to shift as quick. Any comment or was the SuperCoupe transmission loosing syncros? The supercharger increased rotating inertia does something. Manual used to be faster with less loss, but an auto will nearly always beat a manual these days. Trying to hold onto my 6 spd.
