Hey! I faced the same issue regarding the phone not always being in sync. But I fixed it! I went to my phone app settings and removed the option to battery optimize the fossil app and so far its always been in sync always!
So after u changed that battery saving option on your phone, everything from ur phone shows up real time your watch? Eg noti and weather etc. It's awesome if that's the case
None of the issues you mentioned really bothers me to be honest. Fossil decided to go for a minimalist design, if somebody needs more features - here you go, market is full of battery draining watches providing you with moon phases, water temperature in Arctic and other really important information. I had many watches, but Fossil HR - take a bow!
I'm extremely interested in this watch and I've never heard of your channel before, but you've been by far the best resource on UA-cam for this watch. So thanks for making great videos, sub'd.
The difference between rain and a showering is the temperature of the water. A hot shower is going to expand the gases inside the watch which may or may not compromise the integrity of the seals a little. Also, depending on the shower head and water pressure, you can get some pretty gnarly pressures from a shower. Great quality review though. This is probably the watch I'll be getting.

One quick thing to note. I have the stainless steel variant of this watch and there is a way to see the battery percentage. If you press and hold the crown (the center button) down it takes you into a settings menu and the battery percentage icon is at the bottom of the screen.
Vivek Ahuja I don’t know what you mean by worth it. I really like it for what it is and I got it with a discount code and I had a kit to size it. To answer your question, I would say yes.
I bought this watch yesterday and they upgraded their system pretty good! There are morr apps at this time u can get notifications on on ur watch. Aswell as a menu is added to use all the features without linking them to the bottoms! Nice video, good to see how the improved over a year.
Great video, I bought the HR Hybrid also 2 weeks ago and I'm loving the minimalistic style ! Little tip for you what i noticed in the video, your pointers are not calibrated, meaning they are not perfectly aligned and point in between numbers. you can fix this in the app under the watch settings, by manually calibrating them to the correct position.
The video is super outdated ... Fossil has a huge OS update to include notifications from all apps. Other features too, such as setting up custom face background from phone's pictures. Also after about a month of use I’ve yet to accidentally hit the button???
@@juriaanoussoren I got this watch few days ago and all these negative comments about the notifications and connectivity seem untrue to me. Guess they have updated it pretty good and it does pretty good what one might expect it to.
Hey Mike, great video! I made my purchase based on your initial video, so thank you for that. As for the notifications not being cleared when you read it on the phone and vice versa, I actually kind of like this. Since the watch can't respond to any of the notifications, I only use it to see if a notification is important or not. If it's important, I'll pull out my phone. If it's not, I would dismiss it on my watch but I would still like to see it on my phone, when I get to it later - kind of works out great in this use case.
I agree not dismissing notifications from the phone. I am loving the stainless steel version too would ditch my 4 pebbles, 6 wear os &2 gears in a heartbeat.... but I’ll still rotate them. :-) Need to find out if the watch can be turned off.
I'm on the same page as you. Glad it didn't dismiss the notification in phone, just on the watch. And I also like that it didn't has quick reply. I often mis-reply message because of this feature in my Samsung watch. Many many times to WhatsApp group. I finally bought this watch.
I sent in a question to Fossil about improvements on notification support on other apps and they replied saying that they are planning on adding more apps in the future. I too have this watch and am loving it so far, going on week 2. Btw, great review!
It just seems like an odd approach to me. Why are they adding app support bit by bit? On android at least there's a great API for notifications that a smartwatch can tap into so that it just supports all notifications from all the apps you want without the developer having to hard code every possible app into their watch software (maybe iPhone has good notifications API too but I'm not familiar with iPhone!). That's how it works on pebble so it's definitely possible.
I've had my Hybrid HR for about a month. I don't do a lot of fitness stuff, and I do not wear a watch while I sleep... I get 14 days out of the battery easily. I've only charged it twice since I've had it. I find the vibration is strong enough to feel pretty much every time. Notifications are a lot more reliable than the original Fossil Hybrid watch. Overall, it's very functional and it's a good looking watch. I like it a lot. Previously I wore a Samsung Gear S3 for almost 3 years. I figure I can wear this one for a long time. What I don't like is that Fossil does multiple styles, but not ever the one I like - I'd rather have a nice brushed stainless case with a black leather band. They don't make a plain stainless case version, but they do make the dark grey stainless... but only with a steel bracelet.
Got my Fossil Collider HR in February. Really love most of it- 90% I'd say. However, over the last month, the center (crown) button has stopped working! I've contacted the Fossil via email & they tried helping, to no avail, and finally (inevitably, as I was trying to explain that is a hardware/physical problem) suggested I take it to a authorised Fossil service centre, which in this current lockdown scenario in India is not possible, since they're all located in other states! Another feature I really love is being able to use a picture of your choice as the watch face- I've done that and turned off display of the other dials/icons, so it looks superb.
Your Channel has become my go to source for unbiased reviews. Thanks! The limited connectivity and good battery are a boon, this is my kind of watch :D
Thanks for the great videos on the Fossil Hybrid HR Smartwatch. I was really intrigued on the brown faced black watch, and am really happy with it! Love its customizability and tracking despite its obvious flaws.
I bought this watch the week after it debuted. I own a generation 4 Fossil smart watch. Unfortunately, I have not used it in about one month. I really enjoy the hybrid watch. One suggestion, I am middle aged and have some problems with the scale of the text. I went to Google and downloaded some basic white background and other background photos. The contrast is white gray and black. Last week I flew cross country and the watch did change the time upon landing. I have owned smart watches for over twelve years. This one is a keeper.
Do you know if the appearance can be customized so that the screen would primarily always display a black background and white text? Because the part from 0:25 forwards shows both a weird white flash appearing on the whole screen (presumably when changing application) and the white area on the upper side that shows things like app message name, workout mashine? I feel like it destroys the smoothness of the watch interface
@@evert6751 if you select no background (a.k.a. black) in the app, all text will be white. The flash happen everytime you change the watch face as it refresh the e-ink. but it only happen one time.
@@courtney5663 i rlly like these hybrid watches and i have a vivomove hr (from garmin) for a few years now and im not sure if i want this or the vivomove style… bc i prefer how this looks and the buttons so u dont get fingerprints but the garmin seems more robust… idk
I got this watch of your review.. I think it's great.. My previous was the original Moto 360. It could definitely be improved but I'm presently pleased 8 months of continuous use.
Coming from a Pebble (god rest it's soul) it has very similar characteristics but still very different. Don't expect a pebble if you get this. Pebble had a big community of fan developers that created apps and watchfaces for the Pebble which people LOVED and I really hope Fossil would be open to something like this although it wouldn't be expected. I like this HR Hybrid although the menus are different and it's lacking a bit but I feel that Fossil can really make this a beast in the next gen (or updates would be nice :) ) I do hope Fossil implements a few of the old Pebble features like quick replies (being able to add your own quick replies in the app too) add a mic for voice-to-text replies and quick notes (really no need for an assistant it worked fine without one) and also long press or double press the side buttons for more options like Mike mentioned. The option to also have a color e-ink display would be amazing but that's not really a necessity most people have; it just opens them up to more customization. I loved my pebble for the battery life. I don't need my phone on my wrist, I just need basic notifications because my phone is on silent 85% of the time. I think dumb smartwatches are the best smartwatches and really hope Fossil keeps this alive. Pebble was ahead of it's time, I hope Fossil can do e-ink justice.
I really like the idea of these watches as I like having an analog watch but also having the basic smart watch functionality of being notified of txt msgs/who is calling (ideal if you are working and don’t want to be always checking your phone but need to know if your partner/child is trying to contact you). My only issue is (along with it seems all hybrid watches) is NO seconds hand - I’m a healthcare worker so need this function. I have read issues regarding the e-ink fading as well as condensation occurring inside if exercising. If they add a seconds hand, up the water proofing and reliable screen and software it will be perfect. Hopefully Fossil might read these comments 😋
Thanks for the update on this watch. P.S. Watches are usually rated separately for rain and the shower because the shower is pressurized and rain isn't.
The Snapchat thing is an issue with how Snapchat deals with notifications. Nothing to do with the watch, purely Snapchat's problem. I find this a pain just on my phone, even without a smartwatch. Definitely understand how this would be frustrating on your wrist
My purpose, and that's definitely a pro, is, that I would buy this watch to disconnect myself a bit more from my phone, just to not have to look into my phone every time a notification comes in
I have had one since last December. I just had to get it replaced by fossil because the display has been fading and suffering from ghosting. I still love it and kudos to fossil for the speedy and helpful customer service but be warned if you purchase one that you might be sending it back.
Yeah I had one after 2 years of wearing down from condensation finally die due to a huge build up of sweat condensation.... It took awhile to find the right one but an outlet store it was out of warranty but they sold me a new one for like 60% off
Time traveler here from 2023, still wearing one of these as my daily. The refreshed Gen 6 hybrid from a few months ago is freaking unwieldy size. If you're looking at hybrids, go for the Skagen Jorn gen 6 which uses the updated Fossil hybrid platform, looks the same as this plus costs only about $150
Notification is not the problem for me, i prefer the analogue look and this is just perfect for me thanks for the on point review, I'm new to ur channel but i love your video quality and ur efforts.. Take a bow 👍
They just released an update to the fossil app which allows all applications to push notifications to this hybrid watch oh, this is a huge update and bonus to this device
WRT your comment about a dead watch, yes, I have, and like you, I'm the only one who knows it. Advantage of a nice watch with actual hands, it is an accompanying piece of jewellery and complements your look. I'm good with that! :)
Great video! Some of the info is outdated now due to the latest update (notifications for all apps mainly). I agree wholeheartedly with you on notification behavior. It is disappointing notifications don't "sync" better between the watch and the phone. Having to dismiss a notification from both devices is quite annoying. Not being able to interact with notifications at all from the watch does defeat the purpose. Another con I have with notifications is it will appear on the watch, but only a short preview. You then have to click into the notification to read the full message, then click in again to choose to go back or clear it. This creates an extra layer which I think is unnecessary. Notifications should arrive in the "second state" where you can already scroll to see the entire message. Then one press would take you to the options. I'm hoping to see some improvements to this watch over time. It is very close to being the next Pebble, but some things are holding it back currently.
Really helpful review thanks! I had the full smartwatch from fossil but within 2 years the battery only lasted a few hours. Sent it away and they said it wasn't repairable... So I've lost a little faith in the quality but this looks good
Hey Mike, Garmin just launched the new line up of the vivomove. The vivomove luxe and style have are hybrids with a double touchscreen oled (colored for those verisons) It isn't like a small circular screens and they actually mix so well with the back of the watch that you won't even notice them there. They vary from 300-550 and I recomend you try the graffiti colored style, it has a nice black visor and comes at 350 dolars. Great review btw Edit: grammar
To me, it’s refreshing to get away from the smart watch screen back to the traditional face. Comparing these two watches would be like comparing apples to oranges.
Hey I'm came across this watch recently and I'm in love w it's look and simplicity. Would u recommend this watch even now, that is two year later? And also please give an account of its long term use. THANK YOU!
@@jn4190 If it isn't too tight, it's ok. I wear watch everyday for 20+ years now. Currently I charging my Instinct for a brief moment once per 14 days.
I'm considering getting this watch, coming from a Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch. I was wondering if you could answer a few questions that might help my decision. 1) What does the vibration feel like for notifications? Is it a loud buzz that's very audible in a quiet room or is it more of a subtle nudge that you just feel on your wrist? 2) How does the timer work? Is it easy to set a timer for say, 18 minutes? Something not a multiple of 5, for example. 3) Does your phone still buzz/ring when connected to the watch? With Wear OS, notifications on the phone are muted when the watch is connected which is great because my phone doesn't buzz in my pocket and my watch on my wrist at the same time. Thanks in advance
Currently wearing the Fossil Hybrid HR. Other than some slightly different buttons(I occasionally pinch myself), Sapphire Glass, and adding those fancy Garmin Solar Cells I wouldn't change a thing. The charging once or twice a month is huge as someone who wants the sleep and Heart-rate data (which I find it tracks extremely well).
Hey I'm came across this watch recently and I'm in love w it's look and simplicity. Would u recommend this watch even now? And also please give an account of its long term use. THANK YOU!
May I ask, how's the watch (device wise) regarding sweat? I mean, can I wear it when going at the gym in order to check my heartbeat while working out, running in the elliptical or treadmill etc?
I turn off my phone at nite and after a week of use I will be getting close to the 20 day life. So for me battery life is not a concern like the pebble watches. Just didn’t need to worry. Garmin is being mentioned here but imo, I love this traditional watch face. Just tired of the same old smart watch faces, now they look a bit ugly.
In each week for my use it used about 30% of the battery. The sync seems to be ok with my phone and you need to check the battery saving options for the app in your phone settings. The app is really nice and easy to use. One thing the watch has no speaker inbuilt but can vibrate.
Re: water resistance. I never take mine off other than to charge. Wear it in the pool, showering etc, and it hasn't had an issue (yet). I'm just careful to not press any of the buttons while doing these things as it seems most likely way to introduce water to internals. Just my experience after a month or so.
;( you take a risk man if its only resistand....i know my mk acces takes swimming very good from fossil group...but...its the first water rating so..2 meter i think for 30 minutes... I tried the same 2 years ago with my zenwatch...water restitand...till i washed it to clean it...dead...alive for 3 days...dead again for ever
My only complain goes for the notifications, like you said on the video the watch makes notifications that you dont really want to see. For example when whatsapp web is on the watch gives you a notification repeatedly, you should be able to turn this kind of notifications off. Despite this, it´s a great watch, I am happy with my purchase.
I love how I just came here for a watch review, but the second I saw you and heard you talking I immediately got some serious Nate O’Brien vibes. Checked your channel and damn, apparently I was right haha. Good stuff tho, thanks for the vid!
I got brown as well and honestly it was a bit of a mistake. As you said, it's not really brown except in certain lighting and it seems that in such lighting it just makes it harder to read as a whole. If it were a richer color like on the site it'd be far better. I still love the watch but if anyone is stuck between brown or black, you're not getting much by picking brown aside from a nice leather strap.
„if the watch dies, noone notices“??? Seriously? The most interesting pro I ever heard. The biggest downer aside from condensation under the glass (NOT sweat-proof, the bugger!) is the limited amount of apps able to send notifications to the screen. I agree that disconnecting is important, but I would love to choose from what notification I am disconnecting. Another con is that the writing is really tiny on the screen.
"Has anybody ever told you, 'Hey your watch is dead!'?" A couple of times, with analog watches, when I happen to wear a broken watch, yeah. Maybe two or three times, through out my lifetime. Maybe.
I want very few notifications. Just phone calls and messages from select people. This watch is perfect for me. I traded in my full smartwatch for this. Too much connectivity is annoying. Plus I can see the time easier with the analog hands.
i have always wore analog watches. and most of the times people notice when my watch is dead. they instantly notice that it's showing the wrong time. maybe it's because they usually stand close to me or maybe i am always around really smart people. xD
Hey thank you for this video, ordered the Tan one and it arrived today, I like how easy to use it is and the fact you can change the face, however I find if you ad a custom background pic you can't see the display very well, I also struggle to see the watch at all in places with bad lighting, the step counter also registered 32 steps whilst I was sat setting the watch up. Good quality, buttons and navigation very nice, battery charges fast, I just don't like how hard it is to see. So I've opted for the withings scanwatch which I I looking forward to trying. 😊
Suddenly crash into your revview for the best 2019 smartwatch and saw this video as well. Wife ask to accompany her to the mall, past through Fossil, and bought the damn watch. I blame you for my poverty :D
I'm thinking of buying this watch to commemorate an achievement, hence I'm wondering if it would last a lifetime. I understand no electronic products last a life time but I don't mind if the smart features go dead after a few years of usage, I just need the movement hands functioning for a life time. Until then I'd love to experience the smart features this watch comes with. Also, Is the movement quartz or automatic?
i've worn dead hybrid/smartwatches so often, but never analog ones! hybrid/smartwatches looks good and still kinda looks functioning even when it's dead so it doesn't matter hahaha
Mike - have you had any issues with the step counter not resetting at midnight? I've had multiple days where it did not reset at midnight. And just the other day, it didn't reset for two days in a row. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but I'm actively using the watch as a step counter as I track my daily activity. When I contacted Fossil support, they advised me to try resetting the watch (Press and hold the middle button for 5-7 seconds > A message will pop up saying that the watch will about to reset > Continue to hold the middle button to proceed). It worked the first night after I did that, but since then I've had two nights where it hasn't worked. I'm still in contact with them to try to solve this issue, and just keep getting told to wait as they are working on a solution. I wonder if it is specific to my device.
If you can afford it. The Garmin hr luxe is practically the perfect watch with physical hands. Have tried many and found the luxe is a really beautiful watch and lots of fitness tracking,- accurate sleep tracking and can have any notifications from apps and phone of course so can see who is calling. Was going to get the fossil hr hybrid but was taking to long to get here. Seen the Garmin Luxecand fell in love with it.
Yeah I actually just reviewed it today! (Actually I reviewed the vivomove Style, which is the same watch but without GPS on board and with less colorful options). Definitely an amazing watch!
Compared to huawei gt2, which one is worth the money Edit: Just got mine today. Feels weird. Maybe i’m used to see bulky gshock in my wrist. And yeah. They should put auto light function. Easy to use/see at night
The difference between rain and the shower is the temperature, even though the amount of water may be pretty much the same, hot water wears the plastic seals a lot faster, that's why it's not a usual recommendation to bathe with your watches (specially if you like your shower to spew burning drops 😂)
Hi Mike. Great videos. I've had the watch about a month too. The only negative I would add is the size of the text on the watch, and no ability to change that in the app. Good luck easily reading much of anything on this watch if you're over 40 years old. Lol.
I'm totally agree. I bought it and loved it but for me the text size was tuff to read. Hopefully fossil will let us change the font size in a next update.
Nice review ! Do this watch allow push notifications from ANY app on the phone without having to push anything on the watch ? I mean, is the notification "readable" immediately on the watch without having to do anything ?
I think I've heard of some people who wear dead/broken watches purely for the aesthetic, though that's only been the case with regular analog watches. I wore my LG G Watch on my wrist even when it was dead (or near dead in battery saver mode), but only because I didn't have anywhere else to put it.
Would love to see a review of the fossil gen 6 hybrid and if any of the issues you raised have been addressed between the Gen 6 watch and the updated app. Also would be good get your thoughts on the Citizen hybrid watch and wondering if it will be getting similar updates. Good job with all your videos!
I am getting 4-5 months of battery on a single, full charge. With the latest update, it is possible to disable the HR monitor. I don't really use nor do I trust how accurate the HR monitor is for serious health monitoring so it's nice to be able to turn it off. Not to mention that with this off, I am using about 1% battery every 1-2 days.
I think that with an software update a lot of cons should be resolved. If they've done please make another video showcasing the new features. Subd 😉 keep it going
Software is already updated 2 weeks ago and yes, every cons has been resolved. You can even suggest a feature directly to fossil in the app. So far they have been listening.
I actually am a really big fan of this watch being the first smart watch having a acceptable battery life. But I really feel like Fossil hase a huge potential to improve some things in gen 2 (e.g. GPS, NFC & Paying, a huger display and totally customisable watch faces, ...)
I own a fossil hybrid hr and mike u gotta do an updated review specifically on the NEW SOFTWARE of the watch! It's freaking amazing! They listened to all of our complaints
I suppose you can kind of get around the unintended button pushes while you sleep. Use your other arm, the buttons facing your elbow. Still, the accidental presses can happen but it is less likely I feel. Nice watch overall though, really vibe with the look of it. The features and battery life are great. Thinking about getting it.
I have the 1st gen Fossil q hybrid. It does not have a display. When the battery dies, the connection with phone is lost and no more notifications. But the watch still shows the time. Does this watch continue to show time when the battery dies?
Thanks alot for this insight mate!. I was about to go the fossil but indeed the lack of proper sync with the fone worries me plus the whole issue of the buttons being easily pressable is a no no for me. Could you kindly also do for us a review of the NYSW Hybrid smartwatch. I am interested in it as a replacement
Thank you so much for your video! I bought a collider hr.. I have a question.. When I try to customize the face of the watch, the small circles with the chosen attributes do not appear...Am I doing something wrong or does my watch not support this function? Thank you so much for your help!
Having to deal with carrying a cell phone and a synched smart phone was a problem I want to avoid. The Timex Ironman Data Link USB watch was like a beeper to your cell in that you could synch your Outlook calendar and contacts which came in handy if you misplaced, left behind, or didn't want to reference your cell phone. Aren't there watches that still do (only) that?
HELP- all of the subscreens have stopped working! Only the main background is viewable- none of the other smaller circle/screens are displayed anymore. One second they were all there, steps, weather, date... then I looked down and they’re gone. Tried resetting then and syncing again through my phone but still nothing! Any ideas? Thanks! Great review of this watch. But sadly mine is now only a regular watch! Only had it 3 months.
Is the activity tracking for calories burnt accurate? I used a Mi band 4 previously and the calorie count readings that I get from the Hybrid HR is half(or 40 percent sometimes) of what I get from the Mi band. So I’m not sure which is the more accurate one
Love the watch, the details and all I have two other Fossil Hybrid and the one thing I miss on the HR et the ability to take pictures with the touch of a button like the other Fossil Hybrid. That really sucks I used to use the photo button alote.
People are complaining about "fogging of the face", have you Mike experience any of this annoyance, I'm just about to buy this watch, but I don't want that extra camouflaging feature, please let me know, thanks !!!
Question for you - if you are not within a certain range of your phone, does your watch not sync up anymore? Say you leave your phone in the house and go outside, or walk to the other end of the office without your phone - will the time on your watch not sync, or will you stop receiving notifications?
Hi , after one month i have small condensation on the glass of the watch. When i walk in very cold weather into warm room . Do you think i should return it or to wait to fix from its own. For 30 days it happen only twice

An online review said 44 additional apps by the year end.
@@MikeOBrienMedia Hybrid smartwatch app update went live today to allow notifications for all apps.
Thanks for letting me know!
I found a version at Fossil Store yesterday that match what you want. Just a simple stainless steel HR. you can change the band if you need leather.
With the recent update, features such as workout and wellness is accessible from the watch. And the weather has been spot on for me anyway.
I'm pretty happy with mine so far. I agree with everything he says in the video. I hope they improve their software soon-ish.
Your Channel has become my go to source for unbiased reviews. Thanks!
The limited connectivity and good battery are a boon, this is my kind of watch :D
Thanks for keeping me in mind as an unbiased source! I promise not to change that as the channel grows! Enjoy your new watch!
Thanks for the great videos on the Fossil Hybrid HR Smartwatch. I was really intrigued on the brown faced black watch, and am really happy with it! Love its customizability and tracking despite its obvious flaws.
I have worn a dead watch and it feels weird but this is speaking about a true analog watch.
I've had this watch for 4 months now and I love it! The only con is no quick replies to text. But once that is fixed, it'll be perfect!
Think it'll be a feature added in the future?
@@duvalpenny100 I think they will. A lot of people mention this to their complaints to fossil about the watch.
@@courtney5663 did they now?
@@courtney5663 i rlly like these hybrid watches and i have a vivomove hr (from garmin) for a few years now and im not sure if i want this or the vivomove style… bc i prefer how this looks and the buttons so u dont get fingerprints but the garmin seems more robust… idk
@@danielh9981 no, still no quick replies. But still loving the watch. So much so, I now have two!
This watch is a huge step to totally be my pebble. Fossil nailed this one and hopefully more generations will come.
THANK YOU! Fixed my issue of the smaller sub screens not being displayed. press and hold the top button! You da man!
Totally agree. Best purchase I’ve made among my 12 Smartwatches.
The vivomove luxe and style have are hybrids with a double touchscreen oled (colored for those verisons)
It isn't like a small circular screens and they actually mix so well with the back of the watch that you won't even notice them there.
They vary from 300-550 and I recomend you try the graffiti colored style, it has a nice black visor and comes at 350 dolars. Great review btw
Edit: grammar
Thanks for watching! It is funny that you mentioned the Vivomove watches... stay tuned for a big video tomorrow!
THANK YOU!
People wear watch while sleeping? I could not be able even if I wanted to lol.
Earlier I had watch on my wrist for 1.5 year straight until I must change the battery.
It's easier with a fitness band for sleep tracking
It's also easier with a plastic watch or at least a lightweight watch.
@@peterharvan5801 I'm pretty sure that's not healthy dude
@@jn4190 If it isn't too tight, it's ok. I wear watch everyday for 20+ years now. Currently I charging my Instinct for a brief moment once per 14 days.
Wearing a dead watch makes me feel like it's useless on my hand. I would wait until I get home to take it off.
Yeah definitely useless, but I think it is better than a dead smartwatch. Thanks for sharing!!
Mortimer Livan for me the main reason of wearing a watch is to tell time so I can’t comprehend why people bother wear a watch if it is dead
@@kaskuban the watch "dies" while in use. I have a LG Watch Style that now barely gives me a few hours from the battery. It is now parked.
A fellow at work wears dead traditional watches for style. Yeah, they don’t work, weird for to me. Maybe a lot of people do that.
@@MikeOBrienMedia ;) why if you have a dead smartwatch youre probably having a fun night at the bar and youre awake for 24+ hours...👌
Other than some slightly
different buttons(I occasionally pinch myself), Sapphire Glass, and adding those fancy Garmin Solar Cells I
wouldn't change a thing. The charging once or twice a month is huge as
someone who wants the sleep and Heart-rate data (which I find it tracks extremely well).
Hey I'm came across this watch recently and I'm in love w it's look and simplicity. Would u recommend this watch even now? And also please give an account of its long term use. THANK YOU!
But love these videos tho, you put alot of time into them and you can tell.
Thanks!
May I ask, how's the watch (device wise) regarding sweat? I mean, can I wear it when going at the gym in order to check my heartbeat while working out, running in the elliptical or treadmill etc?
There should be an option for it to go to analogue clock mode on low battery and to have a switch to do so
The Garmin Viviomove Style does that. It's pretty nice actually!
Thank you for reviewing, great presentation
How well to texts show? I use 2 Factor Authentications a lot so would be nice if the watch would show the text codes.
In each week for my use it used about 30% of the battery. The sync seems to be ok with my phone and you need to check the battery saving options for the app in your phone settings. The app is really nice and easy to use. One thing the watch has no speaker inbuilt but can vibrate.
I have the Neutra Hybrid HR in brown and it's a good noticeable brown, especially in good lighting.
Yeah that's a good point. I would recommend just getting the black, and then picking a new strap
Its fixed, you can get now all notifications you want
Thank you for the in-depth review!
Hey mike, I’m looking to buy a hybrid watch. Which one would you suggest based on today’s availability??
Aha....
Good call. Quick replies and notifications are priority for me
Mike - have you had any issues with the step counter not resetting at midnight?
One glaring difference, this is a traditional watch with smart features. Not sure if you can compare this to Smartwatches.
Compared to huawei gt2, which one is worth the money
Edit:
Just got mine today. Feels weird. Maybe i’m used to see bulky gshock in my wrist. And yeah. They should put auto light function. Easy to use/see at night
I'm having problems to read the notifications on my watch, after a month it has a really low display. What should I do?
Same problem faced
The difference between rain and the shower is the temperature, even though the amount of water may be pretty much the same, hot water wears the plastic seals a lot faster, that's why it's not a usual recommendation to bathe with your watches (specially if you like your shower to spew burning drops 😂)
Hi Mike. Great videos. I've had the watch about a month too. The only negative I would add is the size of the text on the watch, and no ability to change that in the app. Good luck easily reading much of anything on this watch if you're over 40 years old. Lol.
This is true. I have excellent vision but if you're walking or running, it becomes very difficult to see the tiny font
I'm totally agree. I bought it and loved it but for me the text size was tuff to read. Hopefully fossil will let us change the font size in a next update.
Beautiful review! Thank you!
I just need a music player on this watch and it will be perfect.
There's one on there now !!
Very helpful review. Thank you. 👍🏼
Will the analogue arms also stop when the charge is over?
Any comments on the phone app?... how stable / reliable has it been over the years? thanks!!
I actually am a really big fan of this watch being the first smart watch having a acceptable battery life. But I really feel like Fossil hase a huge potential to improve some things in gen 2 (e.g. GPS, NFC & Paying, a huger display and totally customisable watch faces, ...)
Nils Albrecht This is a traditional watch with smart features. Get a Smartwatch if you want all those features and worse battery life.
Yeah you'll be trading massive battery life for those
I own a fossil hybrid hr and mike u gotta do an updated review specifically on the NEW SOFTWARE of the watch!
It's freaking amazing!
They listened to all of our complaints
FM 17 Combined if this is true, it really deserves an update. Could you elaborate on what cons have been addressed? Thanks!
Mike O'Brien could you check if this claim is true? Thanks
I bought monroe one two days back.. It's great
I am very glad that I sent them back. Perhaps the next generation will be better, so far it’s clearly not worth it.
Ivan Kuleshov wow, I totally disagree. Best watch purchase I’ve made.
Think I'll wait for the second edition on this one. I still love my Pebble too much
I noticed the Google App isn't on that list for notifications. is this correct? No reminders? BTW excellent review
I am interested in it as a replacement
xhawn Stuart Are you talking about this hybrid. I’m not having any syncing or button problems.
Thank you so much for your video! I bought a collider hr.. I have a question.. When I try to customize the face of the watch, the small circles with the chosen attributes do not appear...Am I doing something wrong or does my watch not support this function? Thank you so much for your help!
Can I get notifications of when the next baby yoda show comes out? Kinda important to me.
Super important 😂
@@Anton-ji5sq I'm glad you understand.
As of today they seem to have fixed all or most of the issues you have mentioned. They’re working on it.
Great review! Keep them going!
Jean-Francois Brideau i wish they add that feature as well
People are complaining about "fogging of the face", have you Mike experience any of this annoyance, I'm just about to buy this watch, but I don't want that extra camouflaging feature,
please let me know,

Question for you - if you are not within a certain range of your phone, does your watch not sync up anymore? Say you leave your phone in the house and go outside, or walk to the other end of the office without your phone - will the time on your watch not sync, or will you stop receiving notifications?
Hi , after one month i have small condensation on the glass of the watch. When i walk in very cold weather into warm room . Do you think i should return it or to wait to fix from its own. For 30 days it happen only twice
That was really helpful
