Extra clarification on GERM cell mutations @53:06:
If you have a germ cell mutation, your offsprings first cell (zygote) will receive mutated DNA (from your egg/sperm). Hence all their cells will be carry a mutation, since all their cells derive from the first cell (which has the mutation) by cell replication (mitosis). Although each cell will carry the mutation in the body, it does not mean each cell will be defective. Only the cells that need to express (make a protein of) that particular gene will be defective.
FOR EXAMPLE, if you inherit the sickle cell anemia mutation from your parents, although all your cells possess that mutation, only your red blood cells will be defective as they are the ones that actually express or use that gene that codes for hemoglobin. All the other cells will ignore (not express) that gene for hemoglobin as it is not their job.
REMEMBER, although each cell possesses ALL your DNA, each cell only expresses (Reads and follows) some of the DNA according their specific purpose in our body.
