I dare say this event is heavily weighted into CrossFit and climbing skills. There were freaking ROPES in more than half of the events. I could easily make a similar challenge which will (what a surprise) get, let's say, a figure skater on top, even without an actual ice skating challenge...
Here you are: Jumping over obstacles that are LONG and CONTINUOUS at the same time - such as large pillows. Snowball fight MOOSE race - not a sprint, but a medium to long-distance run with constant movement uphill. Even better if with a section of running backwards. Dance battle Flexibility challenge Rope skipping challenge Vertigo challenge (let's say aerospace preparation machines). Now that we are left with figure skaters and various gymnasts - introduce an ice cold pool.. 18:37
I like how this series has slowly morphed from "climbers have an advantage in physical gameshows" to "climbers are the most superior athletes in world"
For the rope pull finale, the other competitor was actually way out in front but then the production team had them re-film it 2-3 times, cutting the rope shorter each time. This made the other competitor lose his advantage and completely changed the challenge into a test of endurance, which led the crossfitter to win. Lots of controversy surrounding the final result
that was really unjust as the guys on the sides of the strongman guy were just pulled along him when he grabbed the key and our guy was on the opposite side so it was definitely unfair game
I'd prefer they do a show like this with point scoring rather than survival style. Because the order of events matters too much this way. Imagine a group of 4 strongman competitors and 1 sprinter. The first event is a test of absolute strength so the sprinter is eliminated, but the next event is a 100meter dash (with only the 4 strongmen competing)
From a fairness point it absolutely should be point-based. I think gameshows do elimination purely because the producers think it improves the entertainment value
Idk man, the goal of the show was to get the best physique overall, the runner would have been eliminated anyways whether or not the strength came first or last
@@haiji_morie8416 The goal of the show is to get people to watch it. Factors that'd introduce some chaos and chance into things are purposefully added in order to induce upsets and unexpected events to occur.

Somewhere else he commented how awful the dubbed version is. So I assume he only used it for the short snippets to make it easier to follow if you don't have to switch between listening to English and Korean with English subtitles.
actually there was a lot of controversy for the last challenge. the crossfitter lost twice, they had to refilm this 3 times. he only won the last time and thats the one they put out
@@SharkyLoreOfficial yes he kept the moola, the cyclist = max level sportsmanship. But there was a pretty big uproar in the community to share part of his winnings if not all with the cyclist. I don't know where it went after.
Gotta give a huge shoutout to the climber for almost surviving the tug of war just by unlocking his lock faster than the other guy. If he had given a good tug to the rope at the right time, he might have fouled up the snowboarder's unlocking attempt enough.
Not to toot my own horn, but I had a similar situation like in the show where I was the leader of a misfit team and won. It was in high school PE and we were supposed to make flag football teams for a little 3 day long class competition, but I got placed with a team of women who didn't know a thing about football because I didn't know anyone in the class and wasn't picked. I was chubby and unathletic, but I'm a damn good strategist and I watch football so I was able to utilize my team well by playing to everyone's strengths and won first place. Back then, I had a pretty negative view of others from years of always being called fat by friends and family, but it really helped me to learn not to look down on people because everyone thought we had zero chance against the teams of competitive fit men, but it turned out that those women who knew nothing about football were pretty damn good at catching my throws and following my plays down to a T. It was a really eye opening experience for me and I hope it was for the misfit team in the show too.
I binged this show now and was quite entertained throughout. Really good stories and personalities made it a fun watch even though the final challenges were disappointing. The team challenge camaraderie was really enduring and the underdog stories were funny. Thanks for the all videos and recommendations
Just perfect analysis on the "heel hook to the face", "the ball is just a big slopper" and "sand is just a bunch o little blouders". Think I never laughed that much on youtbe climbing channels before.
I loved this series. It was so fun to place bets on who you would think would excel in each task only to be blown away by the results and prestige of the ones who last the longest
I loved the first season and was so excited to see how they improved. Have not finished the second season, they somehow managed to just double down on all the problems with the first season. Love seeing someone talk about the first season though!
i saw your Ultimate Beastmaster video the same day that i finished binging Physical:100 and i was wondering if you were gonna make a video on it!! I'm not a climber but i was super excited that Kim Min-Cheol made it as far as he did. about the final challenge though, there was quite a bit of controversy surrounding who won because apparently the challenge was filmed 3 times and the pro cyclist was tired (according to him, he was about to win before the challenge got stopped the first time). also, the square flip game was based off of a Korean game called Ddakji, where you flip pieces of folded paper in basically the same way that they did it on the show
I read articles about the finals, and the controversy surrounding that specifically the final rope pull. You should check out the articles, it's quite interesting.
While marathoners are insanely fit they wouldn't last 5 seconds on this cause almost all these challenges are exactly what a marathoner does not train. If there was running though for longer than 5 metres then it would be all over.
He highlighted a couple of other athletes amazing abilities so i just want to comment, the winner of the redemption challenge was a major shocker. the bodies they held up were all weighed accurately to their actual weight keeping your weight held up proved to be a big challenge for a lot of these strong bodies.
I didn't even know this had a fucking dub. It was definitely an interesting show to watch especially later on with some of these crazy tests. Should be a season 2 coming sooner or later
The 5 way tug of war isn't a good obstacle, there's no even way to distribute the balance of power between all the athletes. If 2-3 good athletes are next to each other, the others simply don't stand a chance.
