The fact that even Zoro actually has tears in his eyes about mermaids while looking at granny Kokoro is hilarious...one of the most (if not *the* most) stoic crewmembers feeling like he got robbed with his first sight of a mermaid... one piece is great with subverting character expected reactions.
I appreciate that you were immediately horrified when that rust guy destroyed Zoro's sword, understood what it meant. In case you've lost track, the one that guy destroyed was Yubashiri, the sword Zoro got from the shopkeep in Loguetown. Wado Ichimonji, the sword he inherited from Kuina, and Sandai Kitetsu, the cursed sword, are still safe and sound.
When Luffy, pushed to his limits and beyond but finally victorious, screams that they're all going back together, and Nico Robin, ostracized, isolated, and hunted for her entire life, looks in his direction, tears of joy in her eyes and a small but genuine smile on her face... It's still one of the most heartwarming moments of the series for me. :)

The popular belief within the One Piece world is that "the Sea turns its back on you" for changing your natural form. Sea prisms stones operates in the same way as if the person was in contact with Sea water. Direct contact seems to be required in both cases as Smoker famously wields a Sea prism stone jitte, and in both cases the negation of devil fruit is immediate whereas the lethargy seems to take a few seconds to build up.
To answer y'all question about the devil fruit swimming thing the devil fruit makes you sink in water which means you can't swim up just sink and drown and it weakens the user of the devil fruit while any part of their body is submerged in water
