It is time of year that they either thinking about flowering or resting, but could try to put out another growth before winter if heat and moisture levels are good.
I will never grow my orchids inside a house. I used to have mine inside my bedroom nearly lost them all, even had a fan blowing on them like yourself. I think they just like the outdoors cleaner air.
All my bulbo’s are producing new growths this spring except for my lepidum. I really hope it will start up soon, but have been wondering why it is the only one that still seems to be in winter mode. Anyway, fun video, thanks!
"why isn't my Bulbophyllum doing anything?" well, it probably has something to do with the fact that I don't have any 🤣. Honestly, I find that to be one of the most annoying questions when it comes to growing orchids. They're not like other plants, they have specific cycles of growth, rest and flowering (with some exceptions, Phrags are almost always doing "something", for example). With the epiphytes, they all have periods of rest, some short, some long. And sometimes, when they are disturbed, they can pout and sit there and do nothing for a year or more. As long as the plant isn't declining, I don't know why people get so panic stricken.
I still panic a little when a plant doesn't seem to be doing anything for a really long time. It just seems counter intuitive that a plant can be sitting there doing nothing, and be fine. No Bulbos? Just not into them?
@@MyGreenPets It does seem counter intuitive but orchids are divas you know. I have a Bllra Peggy Ruth Carpenter that lost a new growth and sat there for literally 14 months doing nothing. Not shriveling, not dropping leaves, just nothing. No Bulbos for me. There just isn't anything about them that screams to me "must have it". Plus their growth habit is annoying. If I was going to buy one, it would probably be werneri.
I think you hit it with the rest period...maybe it needs to be a little more extreme like with the deciduous dendrobiums!?!?! I also found that threatening an orchid with re-potting in semi-hydro will get it to move forward!! I once had to actually buy a semi-hydro pot setup and leave the offending orchid in it for a couple of nights and that worked!?!?! LOL
Put one of those little 12volt fans you find in computers into a aluminium foil duct hang the aluminium foil duct out your window so it can bring in clean air from outside and into your grow tent see if things improve
I built a tent in my apartment a year ago. There were too many factors out of my control at the nursery, and the plants suffered because of it. I lost a few of my favorites there.

Oh dear. Was the big basket of B. medusae a 'victim'? Cos I don't see it anywhere in this tent...
