I’ve loved Annette Hanshaw for the longest, but this is the first clip I’ve ever seen of her performing. I’m astonished by how “contemporary” she seems. A lot of singers from that period tended toward histrionics. Not her. Her style is modest and economical. Truly wonderful. Thank you for posting!

She had the perfect voice and persona for the 1930's style. She did not like show business and even the sound of her own voice. She was a number one vocalist on the radio and on recordings in the late 20's and mid to late 30's, but she didn't evolve to the 1940's type big band style. Probably didn't try and just as happy not to; but she was a real charmer. Just delightful.

This is a great undertaking and we'll done! I encourage you to colorize the wonderful production numbers from the 1929 musical talkies that are now only existing in black and white prints, although they were filmed in the expensive two strip Technicolor process! Doing that would be restoring the great legacy of Hollywood that no one has yet to do. I would love to see you try your skills with the finale number from "Sunnyside Up", namely the "Turn on the Heat" number. There are many big production numbers that would benefit from your color work, the finale to Glorifying the American Girl, some parts in color still exist, The Wedding of the painted doll , from The Broadway Melody. The first All color talkie needs color desperately, called "On With the Show". Did you guys colorize the Babe Blake clip? I have enjoyed that number for years at 2reeler. It sure looks great with color added. Are you using a colorization program, or just tweaking color features of your video program? Love to hear back. Thank you for doing all this wonderful stuff! I love Sinatra too!

She didn’t like public performance, obviously. There’s a certain nervousness in her voice in this clip

Ela parece tímida, desconfortável e compressa da música acabar. Seu jeitinho é adorável.
