The Hectare prototypes all had thumb studs; it seems like it was a last minute decision to go with the thumb hole instead without giving any consideration to redesigning the handle to accommodate that change.
CJRB and QSP are some of my favorite brands for budget knives
I hated doing this, but I bought one of those aftermarket thumb studs. Installed it on the Hectare, and now, I can flick that knife open easily.
Awesome knife thanks
I've always whip out the old griptilian by pulling the lock for a half second. Crossbar lock knives don't even need bearings.
If CJRB made a less tall, slimmer-bellied knife with the ergonomics of the hectare and a thumbstud, they could charge twice the price and it would still be worth it.
I agree the Hectare would be better with a thumbstuds.
I'd be interested in a 3D printed thumbstud that fits into the blade hole.
I’ll tell ya the pyrite Bowie is fantastic. I would take it over the hectare for sure
On crossbar knives I prefer pulling back the lock and flicking the blade open. Personally think it’s better without the thumb stud.
I’ve been asking CJRB to put out a version of the Pyrite Wharncliffe with thumb studs instead of a thumb hole and feel like it’s fallen on def ears.
You should try the spyderco ziptie mod on this. Might improve the knife without having to purchaset an aftermarket tumbstud
Pretty cool CJRB Hectare but for me it foesnt quite top the Pyrite. The Pyrite tops both models in my mind.
thanks for showing- I guess it should have had a thumb stud
One thing I've done with Spydercos is use a small zip tie so maybe that's something you could try until you get thumbstuds for them
How is the Hectare for slow rolling?
I do think that thumbstuds would make that crossbar CJRB amazing. The Mini Pyrite is really good looking and the button lock should be nice.
Hectare didnt have enough hole clearance for my chunky fingers. Difficulty opening it made me return.
From a tactical POV would it be best to just use the crossbar lock to open/close it? 🤔 Seems like you have a grip that way.
I don't like 3in blades. This model is cool. I don't like thumbstuds. Many get in the way of cutting an worse sharpening.
I believe many of the knives nowadays are not used. They are mostly jewelry or conversation pieces.
Just my opinion on what i see nowadays. In my line of work a diesel mechanic. What i see.
Nutnfancy zip tie mod….

I’ll just glue on a thumb stud from my tongue stud drawer.😂 Yes, the color scheme is ugly. It’s like someone picked random crayons out of the box.
I don't like knives with thumbstuds..gets in the way..carring the same spyderco military for over 30 yrs...I'm spoiled
I don’t like thumb studs either! It’s like genital warts on a blade.
Secomd😅
First?!
