The crowds always seem to enjoy the catchier than the heavier. I wont understand

Anthony Janes why not catchy and heavy at the same time?

+jjonke27 I'm not a hater of James' but he was he clearly wasn't the best fit for this band. They've hit a bigger amount of success with hikari than they had with lost isles. Jake is a better live vocalist than James. James always got short of breathe when doing lows or even highs where jake doesn't. As far as cleans go they're both equally not that good but I find James to still be worse there too. And I've been a fan of OAA for a long time.

Kyle McIntyre yeah got to see them play in IL. Awesome show but I personally liked James highs. The band is still fucking amazing with Jake I like the way they went

It's not because they were becoming very large after warped tour and their US run. And fans poured out. And there is purposely larger breaks in the songs off hikari. But everything before this album was mostly straight to different styles and imbalances to where it was a constant rush of tones and tunes coming out.. but yeah, if you like growls and whispers jake is your make. But james sits atop this.. hikari is more in depth sound and catchy, lyrically beautiful and that's what sold to their audience.. whereas lost isles was so fucking deep I felt like I was embedded to the music and lyrics. It fucking poured into my soul. And yeah, lost isles had so much depth and emotion. And James will reign over Jake. It's just a better output over Hikari.. I love both albums and voxx is sheisty with Jake. But hikari is good.

@@anthonyjanes9858I know this is 5 years old, But I feel like it’s the perfect time to say I’d take either Jake or James over this current guy Joel. Dude is atrocious at cleans and 95% of the screams are lows, and when He does do mids or highs, They sound super weak. I saw the band 4 times, Twice with James and twice with Jake. All 4 times were absolutely amazing shows that rank in the top 10 out of around 250 shows I’ve been too, But as much as I loved James, even during the Disparity era, which I do love that album, Jake still reigns supreme out of all 3 vocalists to me. I just prefer his screams all around, and They might not be perfect I thought He did wayyy better cleans than James. Lost Isles and Disparity are both top 15 albums of all time to me, But Hikari is my 3rd all time favorite album, and Jakes vocals are a huge reason for that.
