- Dr. Stein: So a boxer's fracture is a fracture of the fifth metacarpal. Usually it's close to the neck there, what we call the neck of the metacarpal, which is near the end of the bone. It's from some sort of forceful hit to that side of the hand there, it can be boxing most of the time it's not actually from boxing though, and most of the time, you can treat it without surgery based on the x-rays, we would evaluate that see if it does need any kind of procedure done. The good thing about that side of the hand is that it's very mobile. So it can it can move a lot, it can tolerate a little bit of deformity there. So one thing that you will notice is that you may lose the end of the knuckle there. But other than that, it's really, really no repercussions from that injury other than letting it heal up.

@@Noahyt-ko5koit will take time i broke my metacarpal too .I was able to make full fist after 3 month just trust the doc bruh.Ohh and do quick hand exercise after removal of cast

@@Noahyt-ko5koyes i need surgery as well. Once you lose your knuckles, they’re gonna have to make new knuckles. You’re gonna have to have surgery to get new knuckles.
If I heals crooked can it be fixed? I don't want to deal with a curved metacarpal for the rest of my life, all because I decided to punch a wall in 7th grade.

So basically, you have to have surgery to get new knuckles because the knuckles can I grow back so you would have to have surgery to get new knuckles maybe from a 3-D printer or metal knuckles that you bring to the doctor that they can come surgically screw on your hand and surgically repair on your hand
