@@Wastelandmatrix the Western German Republic was established in 1949 as well, thus the constitution and elections were done directly after the establishment of the State. Between 1945 and 1949 Germany was separated into four then three, finally two zones of occupation. It was also the stage for the onset of the Cold War, which at the time it was not at all clear it will remain cold and also had to undergo a very bloody werewolf uprise. Thus these four years was not a state building, constitution drafting interlude. Actually there was no German salvation government or something like that. Germany had LOST the war. It was the victorious powers that were in charge. HTS on the other hand… sort of won, I think, didn’t they? I do not quite know, did they? Hmmm????
      Good point… maybe not quite?
I guess depends on your mileage here, if HTS won the Syrian war then I would expect them to follow closer the French, Belgian or Netherlands post war example. If the did not… then I guess, Germany’s model might fit better… and then again Germany may offer two different paths, Western Germany or Eastern Germany…

Agreed, let the guy make improvements and write a good constitution with the supervision of international experts.
People underestimate how long it takes to write a constitution from scratch. If you need only 350 laws and each law takes a day to be agreed on, it would take a year to write it

    Think of a country.
Its infrastructure has been destroyed and a huge part of its population is scattered all over the world. Also war-weary and state organs are inoperable, social structure collapsed.
You must provide electricity, water, repair roads, remove debris and show your people that they can return safely.
You should re-establish the State almost from scratch and also make a brand new Constitution.
There is also a need to take a census, renew land registry records and make the address system operational; again.
... If you go to an election without doing these, the results of that election will be open to manipulation and doubt.
People will criticize you because one dictator left and a new one came.
Four years is a very ambitious period to create a fair and legal election environment, I hope they succeed.

    • @AlGeoadis
      @AlGeoadis 3 дні тому +1

@@kaanyagzer8536 elections are NOT a problem in organising a state, providing water, electricity and services. Not at all. On the contrary, elections is part of the process, probably the most crucial step in placing the right people in the parliament that can deliver a constitution, a state, services, etc, etc.
Frankly, an elected parliament is an important prerequisite for a national constitution free from external interference.
The logic: first I will build the state, I will build the army as I see fit, THEN I will give you the elections is flowed at best… or insincere and misleading at worst.

It was Iran's fault. In a meeting between Russia, Iran, and Turkey, they (Iran in particular) promised Turkey that Assad will not retake the Idlib area, hence stopping the 2019-2020 offensive short. Assad's troops were explicitly discouraged from finishing the job. This gave Turkey's proxies a vital breathing space, rebuilding their strength for 4 years after the ceasefire. And the rest is history. You can say Turkey out played Iran.

the difference is if Syrians dont like Jolani they can easily take him down. Assad was different because Assad had Russian Army, Iran army, Hezbollah, Hamas and others. im not Syrian but i think Jolani is infinitely better than Assad just because he is weaker and can be easily taken down if Syrians wanted to

Syrians? Are you talking about the ordinary Syrians?
In the Middle East the ordinary citizens never really had any power. They may make some little noise, but there is no power.
Power is with the myriad groups. Or specifically, the unelected group leadership, and their foreign sponsors.
Regime has changed in Syria because of the leadership of certain groups and their foreign backers. And not because of the ordinary citizens.

@vicmath1005 where do you think the rebels come from? they're all normal citizens that took up arms. Jolani and the rebels are weak they never had a chance on taking down Assad. but Russians had to leave and focus their forces on Ukraine, Iran's forces also left without fighting, Hezbollah and other Assad mercenary gangs left to fight Israel. that's the only time Jolani can take Assad down. Jolani and rebels don't have air force, missiles, bombs, and all sorts of advanced weaponry that the Assad forces had. Russia, Iran, Hezbollah are the only reason why Syrians cannot take down Assad which right now Jolani dont have.

This Julannee or Sharra guy is obviously still very green in strategy and practice of politics. The golden rule of politics is to shift any blame for whatever you want to do to others while taking credit for whatever goes right. If I was Julannee, and wanted to put off or even do away with elections altogether, I would have said, "we need to have elections as soon as practicable." Then, problem will continue to arise, and I will continue to insist that we should make it happen. Finally, I will say, "fine. let us give it a little more time." That way, I will get what I want and, at the same time, I will not get any blame for it.

It’s going to take years, probably decades for Syria to fully recover from this nightmare. The children born today in Syria will still be dealing with the consequences of this conflict when they are ten years old. It’s not going to be easy to rebuild the country and it won’t happen overnight - but at least they will have genuine hope for the future, and at least they can speak their minds without fear of being put in a torture facility.

Syria, Lebanon, and Israel are lands that have some of worse geographies even dating back to the Roman Empire. Only reason why nations conquered this area was because it was part of the "silk road". After the Portuguese developed "deep water navigation" in the 14th century, and cut them out as being the middle men this area of world become one of the poorest on earth.
