I bought an animated Santa for my Mum one Christmas. She had always wanted one. It happened to be her last Christmas as she passed away from Pancreatic cancer 4 months later. I have the Santa now and holds such memories of my Mum when she was well and enjoying Christmas with her family. I can’t wait to put this Santa next to our Fireplace so it is front and centre. I know she is there with us enjoying Christmas with family. ❤️☃️❄️❄️🧑🏻🎄🍁🥰🇨🇦
It feels like Christmas decor has split into two extremes: on one side, the flashy blow-up decorations, and on the other, the trendy pink aesthetic. Personally, I love the charm of traditional Christmas colors and vintage or handmade decorations. They bring so much character and create a cozy, authentic feel that’s hard to match.
Love the old-fashioned colored Christmas lights. Two of my four strands are from my childhood. They are still in good shape and we make sure to only have them on when we are in the room. I also like a tree with a mix of ornaments that were collected over the years. A strictly themed tree leaves me cold.
Hi Betsy-- I just told someone this morning that my tree is a hodge podge of ornaments. My granddaughter has her own section of the tree with a new ornament just for her added each year. I have Rudolph characters, mom ornaments, ornaments that were my mom's and so on. No theme especially that changes every year. Have a great holiday season 😊
I used to combine both, in years past when we had a larger tree. I’d sometimes choose a color scheme and use whatever glass ornaments I had (or acquired) in those colors, along with our collection of various other ornaments. That assortment included old, child-made, and newer ones.
I had never thought of that! Going to do it this year to a large painting that tries to steal attention and distracts from my Christmas decor. I will use brown butcher paper and a green velvet bow.
I have a vintage silver tinsel Christmas tree, it’s 4 feet high. It was my grandmother’s, then my mom’s. Mom only used it for a couple of years when we were kids then we went to a larger real tree. I don’t always put it up but it sure brings back a lot of memories for me. I really like wrapping art work, been doing it for years, when I had an in wall air conditioner I’d wrap to since I don’t need it during the winter in Saskatchewan!
I 'm an empty nester now who travels international for the holidays so I've turned into the old dame with the tabled top ( actually on the shoe cabinet in the hallway) tree. Ha ha! You'd love my tree ; it's blue and silver themed. I also have a lot of traditional red and green in the great room. I change the throw pillows to Holiday ones.
Enjoyed this video! Another budget saving idea is to cover your (non glass) ornaments with a balloon to change up your color scheme. Just remove the cap,cut the balloon just above the neck, turn the ornaments upside down and stretch to cover. Put the cap back on, and there you go!
Excellent ideas. Really wonderful to add that touch of nostalgia but with more elegance. Yes, we want joy during this season! Thanks for your stellar taste & personality ⭐️ 🎄.
I recently found Tru-Tone who sells led lights that look like traditional colors. I ordered two sets of the jeweled bulbs and am excited to try them on my tree.
Family room, totally traditional tree, handmade ornaments...hey, red sofa and love seat. It's decided. Living room, deep cranberry, pink...step back to Williamsburg, glass ornaments on an old fashioned tree. I enjoy both worlds, 57 years of collected memories in both rooms.
I love all the tacky stuff. The Shiny Brite ornaments, the blow molds, the ceramic Christmas trees, and Christmas villages are my favorites. I just don't think you can go wrong with the traditional Christmas colors.
OMG the lifesized toy soldier! I remember you doing this last year and thinking, that thing would scare the crap out of me. What if I woke up in the night and it was in a different spot! AAaaaaahhhhhh!!!!
Garrett, Thank you for saying you like colored lights; i decorated without them last year because all Christmas decorator's were saying colored lights were tacky and out of style.
A little singing christmas tree in the entrance to welcome you ! It's surprising and fun. This year we will put on a red ribbon ;) Have a merry christmas.
I absolutely adore you and love all your design advice! Thank you for reminding us that Christmas is about fun, and family and love. Sometimes the UA-cam influencers have us thinking that a good old fashioned Christmas just isn’t enough. Merry Christmas Garrett!!!🎄❤️
Totally love the traditional Christmas red and the nostalgic decorations as well. Seems like everyone is trying to out do each other with different themes and colors. The themes are pretty and wow, they must be a fortune to change every year! Thank you for all your great videos, Liz
Good Morning Garrett, Beautiful you and beautiful vlog and ofcourse the oh so sweet gorgeous Arden♥️ Until you come with a Christmas special, I don’t feel 100% like we have stepped into holiday period😍so a big thank you 🤗 Loved the ideas and the thoughts you shared. Oh yes RED is the colour. I celebrate all the festivals but Christmas brings me the greatest joy and my the favourite festival of the year. I love everything in the air during this time of the year. Can’t wait to see what you are going to do this year. I still can’t come out of your last years DIY, phewww that was a one big task and I remember every moment that you shared🙃 Arden’s toy gives me a good idea for a Christmas pressie to my buddy’s puppy😍 You have a wonderful weekend and hear you soon. Keep shining 🤗🥰
I bought a new tree (it was my birthday gift) that looks very realistic. I got it unlit so I can choose what lights I want, and I’m starting with traditional multicolored. No LEDs!
Bring on the tacky Christmas decor! We could all use a little more color and fun in our lives. I’m so tired of everyone else online telling us “what is beautiful, or what looks good” if it brings you joy, and looks beautiful to you, than who cares?
What I miss about Christmas? What I am nostalgia about christmas are the smells of christmas. I'm not talking about all the candles and the air fresheners. I'm talking about, are the real smells of Christmas. I grew up with.. I'm sixty plus o k i'm seventy three plus😊. What I miss is walking in the home an the first thing that hit you were the real sent of real Christmas trees before all the fire retarded and the preservatives had to be sprayed on them. The smell of real pine needles, from the sap as the tree, warmed up to the warmth of the fireplace as a sap came up and you could smell that mixed with the pine needles. That is what I miss. The sent of the logs slowly burning in the fireplace that ever soft sent of smoke mixed with cinnamon sugar cookies being made in the kitchen. Those are the smells of Christmas that I'm dreaming of that I have the nostalgia for. The candle bubble lights, old-fashioned traditional christmas carols.
Can we talk about the trendy artificial super-skinny trees people are getting now that look like oversized pipe cleaners? They don't even look like anything that exists in nature. What do you think about them, Garrett?
Oh man, I thought there was something wrong with my eyes with the new Christmas lights. I'm glad it's not me. I love a red and gold Christmas with crystals. I'm definitely not into that aesthetic Christmas 🎄 look.
Do the same on my tree white & color strands on top for the same reason and so the tree is bright when using both. Some old strands are not quite a bright and can’t see ornaments as well. Love the channel!
Thank you for bringing up the blue/cool toned LED lights. They’re dreadful. They also lack the twinkle that projects from incandescent lights. The blue-ish is goulish. So sad. For homes and other. The San Antonio Riverwalk used to be magical at Christmas but now feels like Halloween. 😢

That’s sad. I’m so sorry. I’m sure she is with you when she can be.
@ thank you so much 🥰

I love ornaments collected over the years. All the ornaments coordinated, while beautiful is somewhat souless.

I love the idea of wrapping the artwork. That’s definitely something I am going to do this year. Thanks for the suggestion.
My pleasure!

YES! Aluminum trees are a hot commodity in our vintage community. Highly sought after 🏆
your commentary makes me laugh every time I look forward to your sassy nuanced remarks . LOVE
Yay! Glad you are enjoying.
Very timely 🤗
I agree about red for christmas. And traditional styles of decorations. Also natural or natural-looking greenery
Can't wait GarrettLeChic!!
Thanks for being there!

Sounds great!
We use antique Noma lights-starting to run out of bulbs 😢
I’m team classic Christmas all the way! What a lovely Christmas video.😊❤️😊
Thanks so much Amy!
I never heard of wrapping one’s artwork until now.

Hello 👋 yay made it. Fun video
Yay! Thank you!
My husband love's coloured lights so we have one tree color and in another room white lights.🫶🏼♥️🫶🏼♥️
Pine tree-scented candles are a holiday fragrance staple in our house.
Same. I use Thymes Frasier Fir.
Excellent ideas. Really wonderful to add that touch of nostalgia but with more elegance. Yes, we want joy during this season! Thanks for your stellar taste & personality ⭐️ 🎄.

Aww…Thank you! -G

What a fun video… your soldier is amazing…..I am having a minimalist Christmas…. My knee is still challenging …..love the ideas…. Thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks so much!😊😊😊

Thank you so much! Glad you are enjoying. Have a wonderful holiday season.
I'm totally going to wrap the big painting in my entryway. Great idea! Thanks Garrett, you rock! ☺️♥️
Yay! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed.
I've just started Christmas decorations today.
Love, love, love traditional Christmas decor!
“Christmas is about Joy” Yes! Thank you and Merry Christmas! 🎄 ❤
Same to you! Glad you enjoyed.
My house looks like Santa puked up candy canes & gingerbread, but I love it 😄
Totally love the traditional Christmas red and the nostalgic decorations as well. Seems like everyone is trying to out do each other with different themes and colors. The themes are pretty and wow, they must be a fortune to change every year! Thank you for all your great videos, Liz
Happy holidays! Glad you are enjoying.
One of your best videos. Thank you.
Wow, thank you!
I salvaged C-7 and C-9s...love them. BTW, those short LEDs will last 3 months straight.
Good advice
Glad it was helpful!
All you crafty ppl.. I love that for you; but I’m an impatient klutz!
Good Morning Garrett,

That’s so kind of you! See you Sunday. 🐶🐾🐶🐾😊😊
@ 👍🏻
Hmmm, I have been doing that bow thing for years before it went viral.
Loved this. Thanks! Happy holidays! (Arden is adorable)
Same to you! Thanks so much.
Yes Garrett ! Say it louder for the folks in the back ❤️
Thank you’😀😀😀
I enjoyed this one! Thank you! Happy holidays!

Thank you!!! for talking about the LED lights giving ZERO Christmas nostalgia energy!
You are so welcome!
Ugh, the warm white LED lights don't look the same either as the non LED warm white. Cant find anything but LED....so annoying.
That’s why I still have the old style lights. LED is just not the same

Ha just starting to decorate .. need new lights.. they died.. love the dog hat..
🐶🐶🐾🐾
Can we talk about the trendy artificial super-skinny trees people are getting now that look like oversized pipe cleaners? They don't even look like anything that exists in nature. What do you think about them, Garrett?
My preference is a real tree and that’s what we get every year.
When you squeaked Arden’s Santa toy my dog got in my face wondering where the toy was!
🤣🤣🤣
I love your style. I have a Cavalier/Cocker spaniel. She’s 7 years old and her name is “Harper”.
Thanks so much! Arden says hello to Harper. 🐾🐾
I’m sorry, I’m confused, and I just want to clarify. When you say wrap the artwork, do you mean wrapping it so that it looks like a Christmas present?
No problem at all. Yes.
❤🐶🎅
Oh man, I thought there was something wrong with my eyes with the new Christmas lights. I'm glad it's not me.
I love a red and gold Christmas with crystals. I'm definitely not into that aesthetic Christmas 🎄 look.
Christmas is when I enthusiastically embrace the gawdy and tacky!
I’m afraid I first read your title as Garrettle Chic! Sorry! 🎄☃️
Happy holidays!
