Honestly just feels like a 3 slot Dolch to me, which I am cool with since it uses medium ammo instead of special. People forget that the Officer Carbine is 1/3 the price and that both it and the Dolch/Dolch P have more ammo to work with before reloading.
@@lastnamefirstname850 yeah, back in the day dolch was medium ammo. They ended up putting a stop to that due to how oppressive it could be with the special ammo change. Time will tell on this one, but at least you can't reload all the shots of an empty like the dolch can.

They worked out headshots and have tweaked the balance over the years and it's been annoying at times but alright. However, now they have added the scottfield spitfire, the new army, and the cyclone. They keep coming up with new ways to heal which makes the increasing arsenal of spam weapons more viable (most of that healing is in the events, but when those comprise half the year it's basically a moot point). The deliberate, slow ambush that ended in three shots or turned into a five minute shoot out feels like it is going away and that is what drew a lot of us in.
The problem with bp is balance. Not to stop it from being in but the other way around. A single shot every 30 or so seconds needs to one shot to feel good. If it doesn't one shot it is just a terrible sparks. If it does one shot than it would be insanely op. The nitro is unwieldy and limited on ammo AND expensive. A bp rifle would be quirky but irrelevant
@@atom8248 People read black powder and assume muzzle-loading, but yeah, black powder cartridges exist and some of the guns in the game would use exactly those.
I used it last night for the first time and picked up 7 kills in a compound fight. It's kinda scary how nuts it is. That being said I don't actually think it's that big of an issue since we already have the officer carbine, the bornheim match and the avtomat. If anything I'm worried about the general trend of the game and it becoming overly spam-y. They've done a decent job at balancing spam with magazine size and reload times, but power creep is a real thing that can be hard to manage as you add more and more weapons into the game. I honestly wonder if Hunt should ever consider doing something like fortnite or pubg does where they cycle weapons in and out of rotation. I dont think we're to that point yet, but eventual there's going to be so many weapons that it may be something to consider.
Not so sure about the power creep, I mean over the longest time the meta has stayed unchanged. Mosin, Sparks, Lebell, Romero, Crown and king are still very strong picks. The development goes more sideways then up, power wise. More alternatives are added without overpowering other weapons...atleast most of the time.
@@itszaque power creep is always a concern for a service game like hunt, but considering how they have handled it so far I am optimistic regarding the future.
it's really interesting seeing people get up in arms about this being a fast firing gun when it's basically a rifle version of the spitfire with a smaller magazine.
@@KEBB-ho7fr If you use regular instead of dumdum on drilling it is surprisingly easy also the MV is very very good on the drilling and far better than the cyclone MV
I dont understand why everybody is complaining about spam type weapons damaging the slow, pick-your-shot type gameplay while thinking the way shotguns work in this game is ok. Imo they are the far bigger problem, encouraging you to wait around corners until someone walks into your crossair, one shotting them without any interaction. This bypassing the slow, mid-range gunplay entirely.
Can't say how overpowered it is but the Vetterli is already such an amazing weapon adding a semi-auto version of it feels like a bad idea. When I first saw it I was afraid it'd still do 130 damage; glad it doesn't. But that damage change does feel like it's breaking some sort of unwritten rule. The magazine size seems like it makes it only really effective at killing a single person at a time but it seems really effective at that
If I understand what you're saying correctly, the damage change is very consistent with what we have in the game. Cyclone has a much shorter barrel, and almost every change in barrel length in hunt either adds or takes damage. Nagant and lemat carbine, short winfields, bornheim match, berthier (has the same cartridge as lebel)
@@r-60n54 Yeah I guess there's a lot more of that than I thought. The only thing I could think of off the top of my head was the Bornheim. I don't really look at the carbines and thought they did the same damage and I didn't know the Winfield Vandals do less damage? Most weapon variants do the same damage as the base
Feels pretty powerful at close to the closer side of medium range. Past this you may as well have a bolt action given the time you need to take between shots and plenty of the bolt actions just feel more accurate to me
ik its part of the "balance" but i hate the argument that is always made of "Oh but its 500$" how much a gun costs shouldnt be in discussions of gameplay balance atleast not in a game like hunt where its really not difficult to make alot of $ quickly
Maybe it isn't hard for you. But to get to the point where you can spend 500 quid every round without fearing to get broke, isn't as easy for most of the player base. So higher MMR usually uses more expensive weapons that are generally better than other weapons. It very much affects the meta and balance in each mmr group.
@@itshanhan1 Honestly the whole "earning currency in game to spend on the next game" is the main thing keeping me from playing. I love the feel of the guns, I love the setting, I love emphasis on resource management and stealth, but the whole meta economy just totally throws me off.

There is also always the free hunter you can take into your match so you will never be unable to play. Some of the cheapest guns are actually still pretty good in a large number of situations aswell.
As I thought, it's not the most broken gun ever. It's good for compounds... alongside like 6 other primary guns and even more pistols. Technically great, but everything in Hunt is baseline situational. The only time we'll ever get a truly broken gun is when we get one that's extremely effective in all situations.
I'm not happy with the addition of the cyclone, but I dont think it will impact much. The officer carbine will likely stay the first pick for accurate spam fire and headclicking. My biggest gripe is that these very accurate high RoF weapons make close range extremely irritating. Being one tapped by a shotgun is one thing, but being two tapped by a cyclone or officer carbine at 35m at warp speed just further encourages bunkering down or staying at long-range because most other weapons will just be outgunned the moment they get into a mutual exchange that isn't decided by a headshot.
they nerfed quickswap because it wasnt fair and then release a weapon that can 2 tap even faster than old qs. even tho they add a lot of good QOL stuff, since 1.3 gameplay gets worse with each patch: levering, dual wielding, more spam weapons etc etc hunt was about slow shooting weapons and being precise, now all you need is to spam
I'm sorry Home but you really need to work on not using the mouse wheel to select equipment. It's hard to watch somebody fumbling around during a fight. I struggled with that for like a year until I finally decided to remove the mouse wheel from the key binds. now it's second nature. I know you can do it man
The baseball bat is straight up broken. Was really disappointed the latest hotfix didn't nerf it. It's way too fast and one-hit kills more often than not. Maked all other melee weapons obsolete, especially the hammer.
In my opinion crytek hit it out of the park here. It’s expensive as it should be, the ammo count is great and also good that it can only hold 4 rounds at a time. It’s a slower reload that needs careful planning. I’d say it hit where it needs to stay. The drilling, however, needs to be lowered in price imo. But pair the cyclone with a baseball bat..near perfect combo.
This weapon is all I've been using since the release of the event. I use it and the baseball bat, I absolutely love the bat, Most people don't expect for you to shoot 4 shots and have a melee weapon, they more expect a pistol so they rush me and boom dead. its just too much fun xD
Right when the event started me and a friend were talking about which pact was gonna be the most broken and which was gonna be the most used, that double bar heal at 7:31 is so dumb, while I completely understand the arguments for breaking the weapons pace of the game that people have with the new Vetterli. I am more so frustrated with the pacts always having a clear best and the developers not balancing things mid event. If it was just getting your bars back, so you could then heal them back up, it would be the best of the pacts. But bars back instantly fully heal them, get outta town thats dumb
I think the cyclone is fine. It seems to reward accuracy and knowing when to get that vital pick, rather than just slinging lead down range. It might be a little strong for what it is, but I think it's up to you to unlock the Cyclone's potential.
Weird that people think the 1850s or so was slow firing weapons. The Winnie is all about being as fast as you can lever. Hell, it's when most weapons went up to being semi-auto instead of single firing. But yeah, I don't much care for the super fast firing weapons. I do feel like the cyclone is perfect in its small ammo pool + lengthy reload (Can't even cancel the animation on bullet insertion like the normal version). It's good.
In the 1850s people were still using muzzle loaders. In 1895 when the game takes place smokeless powder was just starting to spread around and most guns don't use it. Semi autos really weren't common until the 1910s and even then militaries only started using them in the 1930s. I'm just pointing out hilariously historically inaccurate your comment is though yeah the cyclone doesn't really seem that bad even though it's yet another spam option in hunt: spam down
@shoelessbandit1581 revolvers and carbines were made in the 1850s, some of the fastest shooting and reloading weapons you could find at the time. Doesn't matter what kind of powder they worked on, they didn't need to be handled like single shot rifles. Also, double barrels were also being produced, and they were all about being fast loading as well. Much slower than the previously mentioned guns, but a hell of a lot faster than single shot rifles.
I think where people get confused is they think it’s supposed to be like standard issue military weapons or something, which just had different needs and requirements, for not only ease of use and maintenance but cost and logistics as well. It makes sense to me that these hunters would have special interest weapons
Maybe some people don't like it. But I love these frankenstein crazy weapons in Hunt. Really gives you the sense of trying to bring any possible advantage to a fight with the literal forces of hell
The inclusion of classical music (?? possibly some movie score or something?) in some key moments of this video sprinkled in really added additional flavor. 10/10. The cyclone is great, but the price makes me not want to use it. I'd go poor before long.
Hey Homereel, i've been following you since you picked up hunt, and the improvement in your aim and movement have been really nice to follow. When i first started watching you my first thought was "Oh, a 4 star! It'll be cool to see what kind of shennanigans he gets up to, to try and keep up with higher skilled players" Now my thoughts are "This guy's got some nice aim and decision making" it has been really amazing to see you improve at this game and get up to 5* (i can only assume, based on the replays). All the best
Played a few mathces against it , not really a big fan.. as long as the user knows how to aim it's really tough to beat the spam power... eh , hopefully not too many spam weapons will be introduced.
@@TragicTheGatheringMTG Not making an arguement , just talking about my opinion and thoughts which obviously different from everyone else , maybe due to skill level etc.. I'm a returning player so im kinda washed so yeh~
I feel like if people have a problem with the cyclone then they should have issues with the drilling which imo if your playing better a drilling will beat almost every gun especially with bleed rounds
It’s fun and very strong up close, but at range the iron sight is very chunky and the sway is really bad imo making it hard to be precise, which imo keeps it balanced
Feels like cheating when I use the thing. It shoots way too fast for the damage it does with almost no sway and very manageable recoil. If you just shoot three times the reload is also really fast, tho using that last bullet is commonly needed. Which makes the reload reasonable. When the Drilling came out people were afraid the two-tap potential of it would be too much. Turned out it was fine, if a strong option. Cyclone is that, but four shots instead of two, with (opinion) far more clear sights.
At the absolute very least this gun should be special ammo only. The fast pistols are one thing, but a semi auto fmj rifle is pretty crazy. Would have much rather had a speed loader medium slot variant of the normal veterli or something.
imo.. whats lame about games with oldschool weaponry is they all soccumb to power creep at some point, where they just keep breaking the mold making more modern guns. like having the automat should have been the top end modern guns that they did. at least its super expensive, unwieldy (without cheating), and near impossible to sustain ammo wise. now theres like something modern in every archetype. eventually hunts literally gonna need a classic mode to keep true fans of the og game happy.
No, not really. This gun is popular cause it just got released dog, the Officer Carbine is literally older and didnt break the game and is literally better, but whenever a gun that can shoot more than one round comes out all the most "skilled" players come out and say the game is dying.
@@TragicTheGatheringMTG why are you talking like I don’t know how to play i swap between 5-6 star all the time I know how to play The guns borderline OP like a direct upgrade from the nagant officer
The balance with the cyclone is only money. I rarely use the Dolch because it uses special and I infrequently use the officer because it is compact without the high reserve ammo of compact (etc.), being able to stack a scottfield with the cyclone is going to create a whole new spam issue. The only incentive not to use this over other non-scoped medium ammo is money, which only restricts the low-skilled and casual players. I personally extend this complaint to things like the avto and the drilling, because using money to balance objectively good equipment exacerbates skill gaps. As someone who consistently spends $500+ on my weapons anyway, I strongly disagree with this addition. They just spent nearly an entire year trying to figure out how to balance spam, why are they adding this?
I think Hunt needs to start considering if weapons like this should be purchasable or not. Things like Avtomat and a few others would be cool to see sometimes but if they get to a state where they're too strong and you see them everywhere it sucks. I think a neat idea would be that the armories in the maps (those locations in compounds where you can find supplies similar to a supply cart) would have a small chance to have a more 'modern'/experimental type weapon like the avtomat and maybe this cyclone too. Or maybe a new side objective that's a corrupted soldier or hunter that drops one of these weapons. A wild target of sorts that doesn't appear every match and is rare but drops a supply box bounty which you can extract with to get an item reward instead of hunt dollars. The pool could have some of the more expensive weapons in it and then also a few weapons that you can't normally buy which would once again be stuff like avtomat, cyclone, dolch and a few others. Would feel fun to have one of these rare weapons and seeing them in a match even on another hunter would create more excitement to go and try and get those weapons if they are much rarer to use. Even if they are a little bit out of line I don't think that's a huge problem since a lot of weapons can still kill hunters easily no matter what weapon they are using.
I'll open with this many of us feel the tightening grip of inflation, and it's presence everywhere, and with that being said apparently crytek does as well. After some time the after shadows I have had some time to reflect on the drilling, and my initial impression of the cyclone is similar. It's a zippy two tap with a lengthy reload from empty. You know what else is a zippy two tap with a lengthy reload animation with around a 1/4 price the officer carbine. I think once the event is over and the newness has faded many people will realize this and continue to use the carbine over the cyclone imo. Perhaps it will find a place amongst the B teir of Hunt weapons similar to the drilling, but I would be lying if I wasn't skeptical.
The leg up that the drilling and cyclone have over the officer carbine is full metal jacket ammo, making them much better at range than an unscoped carbine.
@@willieearles3151 yeah but chances are if you are close enough to capitalize on the rate of fire of either guns dmg over range is rarely going to be an issue imo. Both guns specialize in cqc spam with the potential to headshot over range, but with the carbine getting dum dum it kinda pushes it into the better category imo. Which in my mind further solidifies the carbine as both the better spammer and far more cost effective.
To know if a gun is OP we must take a look at what the 6stars are using. I rarely if ever see the semi-auto Vetterli used in high elo games. The reality is that long ammo is king in 6 star MMR where everyone has good aim (fighting from a distance) and good at wallbangs. This gun falls short of that META playstyle.
I know its depending on range etc, but i don't think its a 2 tap. I was in a gun fight at lockbay docks yesterday and it took 3 hits at quite close range to the chest to get a down with standard ammo. I love the cyclone but i think the standard karabiner is a 2 tap not the cyclone
It will be just like the officer carbine, extremely strong with good players, extremely mid with bad players. 5 and 6* mmr will use it a lot while 3 and 4 * players wont use it nearly as much.
Too expensive, only good side is since it wasn't affected by the ammunition nerf stupidity, you can shoot alot without having to extract midfight. If only they would concentrate on fixing the bugs.

Such semi-auto should be a replacement for an automat. The problem of a last one is just being way out of balance for the game. It is either OP or unplayable. While semi-auto gun is relatively more balanceble.
@@captainblastems3367 I used to play with it regularly before the dual spaks pistol nerf. Usually were taking for a meme run at the end of the session, thinking 'Finally I will die and lose it'. Now, without spare ammo, it is OP until you run out of bullets (which is pretty fast).
@@andrewpauly4783a lot of the weapons in hunt are black-powder tho

@@Fate2071 that is fair, it's a concern I have for the future, not the present.
@@itszaque power creep is always a concern for a service game like hunt, but considering how they have handled it so far I am optimistic regarding the future.
In my opinion the fact that we already have the spam weapons is part of the issue. It should be a niche.
it's really interesting seeing people get up in arms about this being a fast firing gun when it's basically a rifle version of the spitfire with a smaller magazine.
True, probably could have achieved most of this with the spitfire as well
funnily enough in the first kill shack clip there where only 2 shoots you could only have done with the cyclone, i counted the cycling speed

I run crown & slugs alll the time, and the cyclone feels basically the same, just with way more range. I think the fire rate needs nerfed a bit
I hear what you’re saying, but if the Avtomat was 5 dollars, we would feel that immediately. We would see the Avtomat in every match, lol.
@@screamingcactus1753 its really not that bad. Like he said in his post unless you rock a full loadout best guns character ever single game you are fine. There is also always the free hunter you can take into your match so you will never be unable to play. Some of the cheapest guns are actually still pretty good in a large number of situations aswell.
The lovely classical music in the low background is a great touch.
As I thought, it's not the most broken gun ever. It's good for compounds... alongside like 6 other primary guns and even more pistols. Technically great, but everything in Hunt is baseline situational. The only time we'll ever get a truly broken gun is when we get one that's extremely effective in all situations.
I thought they said they *weren’t* adding semi auto rifles
That's been a lie since the nagant officer
Source?
Why is the drilling rifle still a comparable price to the cyclone? :c
I'm not happy with the addition of the cyclone, but I dont think it will impact much. The officer carbine will likely stay the first pick for accurate spam fire and headclicking.
My biggest gripe is that these very accurate high RoF weapons make close range extremely irritating. Being one tapped by a shotgun is one thing, but being two tapped by a cyclone or officer carbine at 35m at warp speed just further encourages bunkering down or staying at long-range because most other weapons will just be outgunned the moment they get into a mutual exchange that isn't decided by a headshot.
they nerfed quickswap because it wasnt fair and then release a weapon that can 2 tap even faster than old qs.
even tho they add a lot of good QOL stuff, since 1.3 gameplay gets worse with each patch: levering, dual wielding, more spam weapons etc etc
hunt was about slow shooting weapons and being precise, now all you need is to spam
In a game where headshots all one tap, multiple weapons also one shot to the chest, and where superior positioning is king... You're absolutely wrong.
i really have a strong feeling, that hunt never needed this kind of weapon. neither the firing speed nor the "weirdness" due to it being so modified.
I'm sorry Home but you really need to work on not using the mouse wheel to select equipment. It's hard to watch somebody fumbling around during a fight. I struggled with that for like a year until I finally decided to remove the mouse wheel from the key binds. now it's second nature. I know you can do it man
Love the chill classical music in the background, nice choice! Love the gameplay as usual.
The baseball bat is straight up broken. Was really disappointed the latest hotfix didn't nerf it. It's way too fast and one-hit kills more often than not. Maked all other melee weapons obsolete, especially the hammer.
Can we have a list of all the music in this video please, because you had some awesome choices in there.
The animations are top notch tbh, the timing and sound design. Great stuff imo.
It'll be cool to see what kind of shennanigans he gets up to, to try and keep up with higher skilled players"

Love the cyclone. Price tag is high but love the gun. I am not a Vetterli user though. More of a Centennial player. Cyclone is good though!!!
I think I still favor the centennial more as well
It’s fun and very strong up close, but at range the iron sight is very chunky and the sway is really bad imo making it hard to be precise, which imo keeps it balanced
I love this weapon! And all its variants. Great video!
Would have much rather had a speed loader medium slot variant of the normal veterli or something.
this is why it pays to listen to what people are using. never charge someone with a semiauto, unless you have a shotgun.
I love how you were literally besieged at the begining XD
I think of you as an informational entertainer. Then videos like this remind me you're also a beast at this game.
I'd just like to be able to try it. Console updates over a week delay so far

For someone who mains the vetterli I am going to be very happy whilst making people very sad
imo.. whats lame about games with oldschool weaponry is they all soccumb to power creep at some point, where they just keep breaking the mold making more modern guns. like having the automat should have been the top end modern guns that they did. at least its super expensive, unwieldy (without cheating), and near impossible to sustain ammo wise. now theres like something modern in every archetype.
eventually hunts literally gonna need a classic mode to keep true fans of the og game happy.
No, not really. This gun is popular cause it just got released dog, the Officer Carbine is literally older and didnt break the game and is literally better, but whenever a gun that can shoot more than one round comes out all the most "skilled" players come out and say the game is dying.
My experience with it so far is
If you do not see the person before their first shot

Cover the bornheim suppressed. It's literally the only reason why I reinstalled lol

Honestly at that price I'd rather just grab a drilling with dumdums instead. Similar fast firing two tap but with extra preassure from the bleed
