I always watch these cab rides at 2x speed. I still get to see everything, but it's more like an express train instead of an excursion, lol.

Thank you for Watching and Commenting! Locomotive cab rides are enjoyable even if they are at slower speeds, I do this for a living.

@@markjl261 I've taken what was called a cab ride before, but it was actually sitting on a buckboard wagon seat mounted to the front of the tender of L&N #152 many years ago. If I sat straight up I could see the top of the cab and the stack and a dome, but I also tended to collect hot cinders in my hat & shirt, LOL! Never have gotten to ride in a diesel cab, although there's an RS-1 doing excursions in the next county over from me at the French Lick Scenic...Maybe I'll get to try it someday.

@@Rebel9668 I am actually a shortline locomotive railroad engineer in Texas. I get to ride in the locomotive cab every day Monday through Friday. A Alco RS-1 cab ride sounds like fun, I use to operate a Also S1 locomotive where I got my start in shortline railroading. Definitely ride aboard the RS-1 you will enjoy it! 👍

@@markjl261 Something I’m still amazed at is how you kept the tripod from vibrating when the train struck the jointed rail, especially in the first, off-train clip. Usually, that kind of jointed rail being hit at that speed makes the video very shaky.

@@BessemerLakeErie902 our camcorder was definitely a good one, it cost 4,000 dollars and our tripod was a heavy duty one that cost 200 dollars at the time. The Sony Camcorder had a very good steady shot feature. I have another E8 Cab Ride and train chase I will be working on posting from 1998.

Amazing footage! This is a rare sight right here! The 1801 didn't live on the Falls Road for very long! I've only ever seen 1 photo of it out there! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, I met Marty Phelps at a Batavia, New York train show years ago and he arranged the train ride and Museum tour. I recorded this video a little over 21 years ago. It is a definitely a favorite memory that i was able to record.
