Interesting era. I was just born when they were partying. The whole punk rock era and I noticed some of the Skins in there too. Wonder how many of them are alive now.
Saw a band called Rhine Gold at the Gasworks in 1980. The lead singer was Larry Gowan and we all know he went on a great solo career and then onto play with Styx.
@@LMTVLive LOL...possibly. I am from Halifax but one of my best friends moved to TO in the early 80's and I used to spend my long weekends and vacations visiting him. We used to go to a lot of shows at Gasworks, Larry's, RnR Heaven, etc...TO was a great music scene back then...especially for up and coming metal bands like Harlott, IZOD, etc..
Larry's Hideaway is gone, torn down. It was in the little grassy flat area on the south side of Carlton just east of Jarvis. You can tell by the square of trees remaining that once had the building in the middle.
Yup..definitely reflected the punk scene at that time. I was more into hard rock and metal than this genre. spent many a night at The Gasworks and Rock n Roll Heaven. However Larry's did have some great heavy bands like IZOD. Saw them a few times and also Grim Reaper at Heaven. Man...miss those days! There was always a good show somewhere in TO during those times.
That is a crap reply! But probally true! Times were different ....very low quality ad. The fuzz ending....mmm☺ remindsmeof the sounds of the old days of analog only music.
Some of that was filmed at the Turning Point, a club that was on Bloor St. It’s from a documentary called Not Dead Yet.
Makes you realize how much Toronto's music scene has gone downhill.
We also went to Nuts & Bolts near what is now Dundas Square
And domino’s
Spent many nights at Dominos, Nuts and Bolts and Larry's Hideaway
Anyone remember Nickelodeon on Yonge? Saw Frank Soda and the Imps there in 1980. Missed seeing Teenage Head by a few days.

i lived there in 1980 for a few months, loved going down to the headspace.

@@neoretro5328 Ok, I get it!🙄
Crap. I was there.
must be an apartment block or a cannabis store today
Actually ☝last i looked it was part of a park. Tho i believe some cement foundation markers might be visible.

We played there twice in 1985..Toronto Tonto's tribute to Max Webster..great sound system!

I know. Played there many times. Condo owners on north side pooled resources and demolished it.

I was just a bit too young at the time. Darn.
