Those McDonalds characters were iconic . The Grimace and Hamburgler became a part of American pop culture
I even have a plush of grimace 😂
That first one was better than “Hamilton.”
The "Everybody's Heading for McDonaldLand" commercial had another version where all the characters get into a car. Then they all exit the car last in first out even though the car doesn't drive anywhere.
Genuis. All aimed at children. Got em hooked young.
Those commercials were so dope!! To bad McDonalds retired these characters thanks to Sid and Marty Kroft for making these McDonald’s land Characters great!
Actually Sid and Marty Krofft had nothing to do with creating the McDonaldland, that was Needham Harper and Steers advertisement agency that was involved with the creation of McDonaldland, it was also why Sid and Marty Krofft sued McDonalds for copyright infringement because they noticed too many similarities to Pufnstuf
@@Puppetgirl93 agreed huge sid and marty krofft fan 😊
Haha - a young John Amos! Now we know what inspired McDowell's.
Love and remember these early 1970s mcdonalds commercials.
11:25 Lone Jogger
Happy memories❤😂
The 'Mcdonaldsland' jingle is pretty catchy.
A "TRIP" through McDonaldland? 😎 What a TRIP! 😂😂😂
GROOVY MAN!!!! Wish I could go back to that time!!!😁😁😁
Wow, Grimace used to be a "heel"?. All the years I knew him, he was good natured and loveable! Hard for me to even imagine him as a villain!
Ironic, considering the name Grimace involves scowling.
@@robbiewalker2831 I never gave the name any thought. Always looked like he was happy to me
@@robbiewalker2831 No, more like pain or suffering.
Within a year Ronald's "adversaries" were friendly associates. Grimace become Ronald's lovable partner, Captain Crook was more like Tintin's Captain Haddock, even The Hamburglar less like a criminal than just guy with a clepto burger addiction. Also they removed Grimace's multi arms in later commercials.
I remember this commercial. In the morning getting ready for school

Grimace: I’m thoisty! 😊awww
Watching these commercials today and makes me sad. I mean I don't even think they have Ronald McDonald anymore. And definitely don't have any of the other characters. I feel really bad for kids today because they will never ever be able to grow up with all the cool things we did.
Hey I'm 13 and I totally agree with you. I absolutely love vintage and retro stuff. I actually sometimes can prefer old stuff over new stuff just because it's so interesting and fun.
Advertising junk food to kids is a nono
Now McDonalds is shoving down identity politics down our throats in their commercials. Their corporate Twitter page is also insufferable.
When Grimace used to be a villain
RIP mcdonaldland 1963-2019
That first one traumatized me.
1973

5:58 LOL I love how Grimace talks like that!
5:52 Isn't that Jodie Foster?
She inspired John Hinckley, Jr to shoot Mayor McCheese! 😛
@@Perririri LMFAO!
i remember the 60s mcdonalds commercials
ah the original Hamburglar with his creepy pale skull-like face
And Grimace had four arms!
itiswhatitaint anditaintwhatitis, Of course he is! But I discovered that the face for the original, evil Grimace doesn’t look evil or angry. But he does on one close-up!
He was meant to be a little runt
I always liked the different characters McDonald's and Burger King had and how they did their own little episodes. You don't see that anymore. How come Wendy's never had anything like this?
Clever. Can't make that like this anymore
Note in "Clean" the multimixer, which they were no longer using! Still my fav McD commercial
The days when McDonald's was affordable. " CHANGE BACK FROM YOUR DOLLAR "
Inflation my boy, to them back then 50 cents would be like 3 bucks to us now
@@someguyyoujustmetbyyyan5911 Shut up
They went from these commercials to "if you're not eating mcdonalds, FUCK YOU!"
I never see Ronald anymore on television or at the restaurants. Its bad enough we don't see the others but Ronald McDonald? The place has lost part of it's identity.
The kids in these videos are all likely senior citizens now.
They may be technically senior citizens but it doesn't mean they're ready for a nursing home. Some of us actually participate in the world like using iPhones and streaming content from the internet on our laptops and stuff like that
The hungry wastebaskets scared the crap out of me as a kid
Lol Ronald McDonald is more scary
@@emodogggg8524 CAN YOU STOP TALKING ABOUT RONALD MCDONALD

Let's make mayor Mc cheese our next president.
Remember the *Mayor McCheese assassination* on Family Guy?
After trump.
I remember a Simpsons Halloween episode where Quimby dressed up as Mc Cheese when a witch turned him into the real thing and a pack of dogs started eating him.
"I am not a happy meal." he said.
to be COMPLETELY honest i did do and will really really LOVE mcdonald's
Those two Mcheese and sheriff Big Mac makes me hungry
2:00 what the hell did i just watch
I miss when McDonald’s commercials had characters and lore.
2:05 "Yesterworld Entertainment" brought me back here.
Love the first commercial.
Back when the mansard restaurants were new.
The hamburger patch rules
I never realized how "special" Grimace was.
Sing Along everyone! and check out Jodie Foster at 5:49
Get yourself ready for a trip through Mcdonaldla-hand.
Take along a friend and grab a hold of Ronald's ha-hand.
Follow Ronald McDonald through the land of Apple Pie Trees
And don't be surprised if you meet Big Mac and Big Cheese.
There's thick shake volcanoes.
You'll even find a french fry tha-hatch.
Now just turn around and see if you won't find a hamburger patch.
As your headin' for a McDonalds In McDonaldland
A McDonalds, in McDonaldland....
Wrong time stamp bud,
1:05 is where it’s at
You deserve a break today.I worked at the fish bowl red&white at Central Park,Bessemer Superhighway.Mayor McCheese, Officer Big Mac.

1972
4:36 1972 Feed the Wastebaskets
5:36 1972 Evil Grimace and the Beauty Contest
Mayor mccheese and sheriff Big Mac i loved
they need to bring the Mcdonalds characters back! i grew up with the characters in the McDonalds commercials in the 70's and 80's
Good old days
What's interesting is that in its early years the focus was 100% on kids.
McDonald's was a place where kids were taken to eat by their (reluctant) parents.
It didn't occur to them till later that adults would be drawn to this junk food just as much as kids.
Now they focus mainly on adults because people complain about advertising to kids
This is the real Ronald McDonald from my childhood. Before John Wayne Gacy.
Is it wrong to say the idea of McDonaldLand in general should’ve been brought back?
@@robbiewalker2831 ALL LIES
I remember seeing a UA-cam video of the first listed commercial.
The uniforms different then when McDonald's really was great resti
So when these commercials were running my mom was in high school. I wonder if she saw them on her black and white TV and thought "this is lame".
1970's McDonald's ads reminds me of H R Pufnstuff, probably on purpose.
SammEater I understand McD’s got into some legal issues for that.
Happy birthday Grimace.
I don't know why i shortly called the hamburglar lone jogger in 1975 it doesn't make sense. No wonder they change his original name back
Grimace used to have 4 arms.
I like the way they get cheap @ 10:10 by not showing the pirate puppet as he does his cheeseburger chant. If they were to accomplish that, they would have had to upgrade the puppet. 😄🏴☠️🍔
I always wanted a fry guy😁
So f****** cool! Why would they fired them mascots? Why would they have a clown apocalypse?
Hey John Amos
Where is John Amos?
They had to stop the mayor mccheese commercials because they were sued by the producers of h r puff n stuff.
Izell Kinney Yep, Sid and Marty Krofft Productions, Inc. v. McDonald’s Corp. It set the precedent for using both an extrinsic and intrinsic test for determine substantial similarity (i.e., whether or not a work infringed upon another copyrighted work.) Originally, McDonald’s asked Sid and Marty Krofft if they could work with an advertising agency to make characters for an ad campaign. When they refused and the campaign got cancelled, McDonald’s went ahead and created their own characters that obviously were intended to be Krofft characters. You can’t just copy someone’s work because they didn’t let you have the rights.
Cute ads😊

McDonald's singing about nutrition... 🤔
What in the clogged artery, fried in animal fat, creepy puppets, bushy red afro did I just watch??
And why am I now hungry...?
Now they don't give a shit about cleanliness or serving quality food ‼️
I love this little runt hamburgler more than the weird kid hamburgler

They were trippy.
It was the 1970's everyone was on drugs.
I never saw the early commercials until now ... but I never ate there because it was cute but because it was there, it cost less, and it was clean ... Targeting kids and acting like burgers and fries and shakes and fried pies is real food for everyday is really disturbing
