  • While making a quick stop home from collage on fall break, myself and a friend were lucky enough to capture one of the elusive overnight runs of the much anticipated CSX Beacon Park Yard dirty dirt trains. With a very unpredictable running schedule, I am very happy to have been able to line up one of the runs with my schedule. For me, this was super cool to see intermodal like containers and spine cars running once again through Wellesley right by where I grew up since seeing something like that was a distant memory for me as it has been over 10 years now since CSX pulled all operations out of and subsequently abandoned Beacon Park Yard in Boston.
Of course before the old yard can be redeveloped, the contaminated soil that was underneath the once active rail yard needs to be removed, and doing it by rail is the most efficient way.
Once the contaminated dirt is loaded onto the containers. It is sent west on CSX to the Rochester New York area where it is then dealt with using a third part company
