  • Two, sometimes three, times a week, St Marys Railroad operates an interchange swap with First Coast Railroad in the siding under I-95 near the Florida-Georgia state line. This used to take place in ex-SAL Kingsland South Yard, part of the old SAL mainline between Jacksonville & Richmond, but more recently is done this way. Good news for photogs as it guarantees the river bridge in daylight. Today's train includes picking up three ex-TriRail F40 and 30 tank cars for storage. Their Family Lines-painted caboose came along for a bonus touch, and to aid in the switching. The cars will be placed between two sidings west of the yard in St Marys and the locomotives will be put in the main yard in St Marys with plans to take all the usable parts from the three to rebuild one operational unit.
