Dude, I ordered mine just after watching this video for $80. Got them yesterday and installed today. 15 min install and WHAT A GAME CHANGER... NICE! Keep these gadgets comming. Me likey.
Great video. I like your style. Can’t stand how other UA-cam installation videos go “perfect” in one shot every time. I can learn from the complications you have.
I did this mod about 2 months ago when I saw my buddy working on his Jeep. A big wind gust come by and lifted the hood off the factory hood bar and slammed the hood against his window frame... Put a nice dent in the hood... I love this mod it also makes it real easy to work in the engine bay without having to work around the standard hood hold bar.
1 of the Greatest things for a jeep ever i just put them on mine love them simple install 15mins oh i lost one of the nuts i thank God i had a replacement in my tool box lol
Hi Ben, when I installed these on my JT I charged the shocks by compressing them 5 times. When I had them installed all I had to do was open the hood and the hood would rise by itself. They work great!
Great TTO hood strut install video. I'm a bit hesitant to try hood struts again but the TTO hood struts in the video seem to open the hood less aggressively compared to the Rugged Ridge hood struts. I disconnected the RR hood struts a few days after the install last year because the hood struts in the closed position pushed the hood 0.25-0.5" forward past the grill. Fortunately I was able to push the hood back into alignment with the RR hood struts disconnected. Opening the JK hood like a modern vehicle was cool but the misalignment even stretched the rubber hood catches. I hope the TTO hood struts are designed better.
Hey Ben Can you go try to see if there’s a weight written on those struts.. I might try to make myself something like this if I can get my hands on the right struts ! Thanks! - Kev from Québec
For future reference, rugged ridge has the same kit for about $90 and no drilling required. I have it installed on mine. You get two struts and all hardware as well.
Love these and there are more than one version of these available as mine are longer than yours and they lift my hood higher than yours which the stock holder cannot reach. I did not have to drill into my stock hood but it was tricky getting the brackets on the hood and while replacing the stock hood recently with a new one the bodyshop lost part of the bracket inside the hood that I need get out before I can get them added onto the new hood.
The ones I got open more than what comes on the stock jeep. I no longer have to lay the hood on the windshield plus laying the hood on the windshield I noticed was rubbing a spot on the hood and having to place towels between them which this does aways with.
I installed hood struts on my JK; best decision ever!! My left arm is paralyzed, so I don't have to hold the hood with my head to get the prop rod aligned anymore... I don't know why Jeep don't come with them from factory. Also, what kind of hood latches are you running? Thanks.
Could you have switched the struts to make the shock-body face the outside giving you the extra clearance needed? This may have saved you from drilling twice. Hope that made sense...
I'm curious to see how these hold up in the long run. I've seen other installs where the struts end up putting pressure on the hood when closed and causing misalignment. I'm hopeful that these are designed with the correct weight to avoid that.
I would've moved that switch pod, out of the way, before I drilled two more holes in my hood. But I definitely would've also made the same mistake!! D'oh!!
Just a thought... if you want to hit 100K subs then do the biggest giveaway ever!! When you hit 100K you giveaway your JK, then you can build one from the ground up. Just a thought
You may want to look at some of jack mounts for inside the jeep that I think are nicer than all the ones that mount on the outside of the jeep. Keeps the jack cleaner and reduces the risk of theft or damage to the hood. The only down side in mounting on the inside is the space issue but that is not a problem for me .......yet. The other possible down side with mounting on the inside is if you cannot open your tailgate it would be harder to get out. Hi-lift jacks are good but they they also can be very scary to use which I learned very well as a kid when I had a car come off one once.
JK Gear and Gadgets, but you can just move the hood and place it on the windshield !! totally waste of money modification !! not to mention that less holes in your jeep is better !! also, your cable management is awful, fix it !!
note that some of us have roof lights and/or racks on our jeeps, and resting the hood on the windshield will not work. So this mod is actually a great idea.

👍 just installed these on mine and the wife’s JLs last week... I enjoy em
Awesome and easy. I never thought of doing this. But now I will since it's a pain in the ass, putting the hood support bar up on a lifted Jeep.

I need to install these cause my dad Ben drops the hood on my head sometimes.
Dawg. You’re an animal! Always posting awesome content. Those struts are clutch though. 👌
I’m surprised I’ve never seen this before.. tons of Jeep shows and meets and this is the first
Same!
I finally just ordered my set, looking forward to getting them installed!
Good option for a lot of people. Great video ben. Happy new year
About time you did this.. It gives you much more clearance under the hood as well.
Just bought a set. Installing tomorrow. This helped out . Thank you.
Much respect ! usually nobody explains or shows the mistakes that happen in real life! Great job 👍Happy New Year
Nice vid, love your honesty! To hell with the HaTeRs! Keep up the cool vids!!
Thanks 🤘

So far I haven’t noticed any misalignment issues, I wonder if the RR Struts are a higher weight
One thumbs down within 1 minute of the video being posted 😂 haters watch closely. Keep killing it ben
They really do 🤦🏻♂️
They changed it 🤦🏻♂️ #calledout
Hey Ben Can you go try to see if there’s a weight written on those struts..

?
Thank you. Just installed. We love them.
Happy New Year !! Looking forward to some more great videos from you.

With most things RR buyer beware
@@aggrex true I got a good quality one. One hood strut in the kit I have can support the hood by itself.
Keep pumping the videos out!

Looks good and happy new year!
Happy New year to you as well
Nice upgrade. I wouldn’t do it myself because I often open the hood ALL the way (and lay it against the windshield) to get more acces s
The ones I got open more than what comes on the stock jeep. I no longer have to lay the hood on the windshield plus laying the hood on the windshield I noticed was rubbing a spot on the hood and having to place towels between them which this does aways with.
Thanks again for the videos. Just put my order in for mine.
Happy new year ! I usually just lean my hood on the windshield frame. Gets it right out of the way. Good vid though !!
I keep seeing everyone installing these now. Maybe I should get a set

These are JL hood latches. They work with a few modifications
Also Happy New Year's Ben.
Happy new year!
And ordered. Thanks for the promo code!
Anytime! Trying to get more companies to work with discounts for all of you!
👍 Happy New Year Ben , Cassie and the twinlets 🎈🎉🎊🎈🎉🎊 🍺 🍻 🥂 🍼
Could you have switched the struts to make the shock-body face the outside giving you the extra clearance needed? This may have saved you from drilling twice. Hope that made sense...
Possibly, I should have tried that!
Looking for something like this for an older Jeep Compass?
The shocks are upside down 😝 😂
I'm curious to see how these hold up in the long run. I've seen other installs where the struts end up putting pressure on the hood when closed and causing misalignment. I'm hopeful that these are designed with the correct weight to avoid that.
Could you have installed the stuts the other way to and get enough clearance?
I would've moved that switch pod, out of the way, before I drilled two more holes in my hood. But I definitely would've also made the same mistake!! D'oh!!
Nice little add!
Yep! Nothing crazy but a neat mod for sure
JK Gear and Gadgets Installed the rear door extenders. Those are great!
I have question. Would this work on a truck as well??
Think these would work on power hood/ 10A?
Always wanted to do this mod to my 2dr!
Great jeep mod and thanks for the discount code
Ben, how many Nm are the struts, regards Ceejay
i have a fiberglass fury hood any ideas?
Great video good mod.
Awesome mod!
Are yours super stiff now?
Are jeep wranglers really expensive on gas?
I have these...... Great Little mod......
Will it work for a tj?
Just a thought... if you want to hit 100K subs then do the biggest giveaway ever!! When you hit 100K you giveaway your JK, then you can build one from the ground up. Just a thought
Dude... haha maybe
Hey Ben you think it'll work on the gladiator?
they sell a JL version that will work! i plan on doing it soon
JK Gear and Gadgets thanks!
What hood latches are those?
JL hood latches, check out my video I made on them.
So after being installed, has anyone experience any issues with hood misalignment or other issues?
No issues here! Still going strong
Where did you get them hood latches from
They are JL latches. Check out my video I made on installing them
Is it strong enough for a Hi Jack mounted on the Hood??
I honestly do not know, I would reccomend calling them to ask

Go in the house and relax.
No can do! Pumping out videos until I hit 100K subs 🤘
@@JKGearandGadgets👌. Can you do a video about air pressure. Your the best at explaining stuff like that.
discount code still works
What's the caliper that you use?
It’s one from harbor freight I think, the battery’s are dead. Haven’t used it in a while
do these struts come as a pair?
Yep!
Nice Vedio
Thank you
Should been factory
Code invalid 7-31-19
I just checked and it still works, it’s jkggstrut20
JK Gear and Gadgets,
but you can just move the hood and place it on the windshield !!
totally waste of money modification !! not to mention that less holes in your jeep is better !!
also, your cable management is awful, fix it !!
Haha I don’t want to rest my hood on the windshield everytime, plus the wiring (I’ve talked about that about 10 times in my past videos)..
note that some of us have roof lights and/or racks on our jeeps, and resting the hood on the windshield will not work. So this mod is actually a great idea.
OMG, 4 1/2 minutes into the video and no install started. You talk too much.
This is an old video. I love talking
Not really worth the money!
