- The closure date for The Mirage is set as construction is planned to begin on the 700-foot guitar tower that will mark the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
This is sad. I moved here right when the mirage opened. The desert inn, stardust, dunes, the sands… so many more. Those were the days!

Absolutely. I stayed in Dunes back in 1991 when I just turned 14. Stayed in Mirage recently in 2022

Such a sad end to a lovely hotel. I stayed there in September 2022. In 1988 was 11 years old saw the finishing construction for the year later when it opened. Came in 1991 and saw it
Even though it’s closing they’re not demolishing the main building, merely just giving it a complete renovation plus the guitar shaped hotel will be constructed

Tropicana is also closed since April 2.
The planned closure of the resort was a change from the original plans to keep the resort open during construction, which would allow construction to be expedited. Had the resort been kept open the opening of the Hard Rock would have not taken place until 2029.
Are there any more tropical themed hotels on the Strip?

I like the indoor and outdoor nature oasis of mirage . Hard rock should preserved it atleast if not all. Just to show their respect to the property that once was bcome part of the culture of lasvegas. An innovator of what a kind hotel. Thats also hard rock dreamed to happen.
It is sad. Was my favorite place, location on the strip, tropical pool with the waterfall. Knowing friendly wait staff at the Paradise cafe and the Pantry. Many great memories and experiences.
(Even the drama of the shooting and having to go back into the parkade and stay there for hours till it was deemed safe to go to our rooms.)
I know there are other big and new resorts on the strip, but my friends and I enjoyed it as a getaway. Usually a week. For rest and relax by the pool. The close accessibities to shows and some gambling.
I hope that hard rock will keep the tropical style pool and Oasis feel like their resort in Florida.
Sympathies to the workers, hope they find positions in the new hard rock with a good and rewarding work environment/employer.

They had to do this - the rooms are bad bad... will give them a chance to get a full refresh. Sad for the people being displaced on the work front though.

36 months of recall rights… so the place will be closed for 36 months and a day is what that means.
Very sad news... the old good legends are shutting down giving room for bad projects. Hopefully, the remaining historic hotels will survive this wave.
Shame on these executives! They said it wouldn't be shut down it would be renovated one section of a time.....Now we have 2 empty properties on the strip at the same time, I think it's a major fault
It be about time they get rid of this Kmart of Strip casinos. I remember walking behind some old bags when one tripped while walking across a crosswalk in front on ceasers. Her chin was black when her & her retirement gang had to walk that long escalator into the Mirage. 😂😂😂

Hard Rock turned the Trump dump in Atlantic City into a really nice place, so I'm looking forward to it.

Lots of childhood memories here with my parents who are now gone. I’m going to trash this new hotel on every website and UA-cam video I find. I’ll write a GPT program to do it. Or set an alarm to paste and copy a trash statement once a month until I die. This particular hotel is one of Vegas most treasured landmarks. It should be protected. Vegas has really gone downhill. I’ll never step foot into the new hotel. It should be boycotted.
Sinless City is dependent on disposable income. As in the last recession, and the next upcoming recession, all construction comes to a halt!
