Richardson is the ultimate test of who watches box scores and who watches the game. 2 out of 3 weeks since his return have resulted in game winning drives. If your first comment is completion percentage your missing so much of the context with a guy like him
I only watch Colts games and Anthony Richardson is the ultimate erratic QB as he throws high, he throws behind, he throws into the dirt and he'll be 5 - 15 going into the last drive just to hit on 5 straight passes to get to 50% completion. Say what you want about his receivers but, every QB has passes that are dropped in every single game, not just Richardson. Of the 38 qualifying QBs, Richardson is 38 at 47% completion. 37 is Jacoby Brissett at 59% and everybody else is above 60%. Since 2000, Richardson was 222 / 225 qualifying QBs coming into this week and I think he moved up to 220 / 225. Part of it are his receivers dropping the passed but, part of it is also Richardson not throwing a lot of catchable balls such as throwing late which is why he has so many ints or simply high, low or behind his receivers.
@Not sure how you could be watching without seeing that he’s been much improved in regard to throwing high/behind etc. Even the incompletions are largely accurate but often dropped or broken up. He’s looking really good and definitely growing as he goes.
@@marvcreates The same can be said of people who defend him. How many dropped passes are the Colts players dropping every game for him to have such a subpar completion percentage? You've got QBs that throw their receivers open and then you've got Richardson, who's not quite Alex Smith but, will throw to a receiver when he's open, which is then late as most good QBs will throw the football before the receiver even breaks. Richardson still has trouble reading defenses, which leads to a lot of his ints. Look at the one play where he threw it straight to a defender because he simply didn't see him. There's a play where he missed a receiver in the end zone but Granson was right in front of the end zone wide open. I'm not saying he catches it but, you've got 2 receivers with one wide open with nobody covering him and Richardson throws to the covered receiver. Then you've got plays where he doesn't even bother to scan the field as he's locked in on one receiver and that's where he's going and it usually gets picked or defended. These are what he has to fix as athletic abilities can only take you so far.
Absolutelu agree. Before he got benched, ya there were some bad drops but at the same time he was missing easy throws. He's been way better since getting benched, but his receivers are just playing trash
The Colts have the worst TE room in the NFL. I would only keep Mallory, draft a good rookie in round 1 or 2, and sign a veteran like Conklin or Hooper as a security blanket. Ogletree and Granson have both had awful drops the last 2 games. MAC is a great blocker and servicable in passing, but his contract is up. Mallory has promise as a 2/3 TE, but not a number 1. The big ? is Mitchell, bc I trust the hands of the other 3 guys for sure. But TE has been such a let down
The Colts TEs are really struggling this year. The WRs have been hit and miss. The only consistent WRs have been Downs, and oddly enough, Alec Pierce. Pierce has been especially good with the long ball. Pittman has been up and down with injuries. The rest haven’t been good at all. As far as AR goes, he struggled yesterday through 3 quarters. His footwork, which was better the last two games, was poor yesterday. But, he found a way to win. I think the benching actually served him well. He’s been a lot more consistent since then. He needs to finish off this season on a strong note.
i disagree, i think the defense struggled so bad that it limited his chances and didn’t allow the offense to maintain a rhythm. the colts had 4 drives (5 if you count the kneel down) in the first half and two were touchdowns. an unfortunate interception on the second drive. nothing to be upset about. colts also had 4 drives in the second half, a field goal, punt, int and game winning td. that’s 4/8 drives ending in scores with 3 touchdowns and a 2pt conversion. pretty efficient in my books. the issue was the defense giving up drive and drive which consumed most of the clock and didn’t allow the colts to get in as much of a rhythm on offense as they could have. their saving grace was holding to fgs instead of touchdowns and getting lucky slye seems to have an issue with kicking short fgs
0:14 Well there was also like 4 dropped passes that AR put right in the money… (which means his completion percentage *technically* should’ve been closer to 66%)
Well. This caption perhaps should read...'Can the Colts wake up one morning and be a good football team?' Richardson will be fine but he needs more time and he needs a team to help him.
I don’t think AR is ever going to be some high volume 65+ completion percentage QB, BUT he doesn’t need to be. He’s played well the last 3 weeks and been SUPER clutch with 2 game winning drives. And his receivers are doing him no favors dropping multiple big passes every single week. That TE room is awful. Couple less drops and his completion percentage looks a lot more reasonable every week, but people who don’t watch the games don’t know that. I think the one thing the benching did was calm him down. On the game winning TD, he stood in the pocket and threw it with touch and not the rocket balls he was throwing before the benching. He’s going to be a star QB in a year or 2, I fully believe that
1:55 JT has had a pretty bad past 3-4 weeks… he’s only averaging 4.3 yards a carry on the year, then in the last 5 games he’s only averaging 3.7 yards per carry and in the last 3 games he only averaged 3.1 yards per carry. So yeah, he definitely seems to be in a bit of a slump right now too say the least
I'm a colts fan, they straight up talked for an entire minute about how the WRs screwed AR over lol they also said the WR did the exact same thing when he was benched after the Texans. Drops/WR play was brought up by the guy on the left (don't know his name)
AR is a star in the making. If there ever was a player who can't be summed up by raw numbers, it's him.
Once his receivers start playing like professionals his numbers will continue improving. Amen brother
I watch every Colts game. You are 💯 percent correct. His potential is off the charts. This Colts team will improve. it just takes time.
Totally agree. He needs time to learn how to play the game. But he has a chance to become a dominant force.
I agree

The amount of drops that game was insane. Pass catchers at times didn’t help him but got the job done
I been saying for a long time it’s not all on AR. His team been slackin
Absolutelu agree. Before he got benched, ya there were some bad drops but at the same time he was missing easy throws. He's been way better since getting benched, but his receivers are just playing trash
He missed Downs big time
If you mention AR’s statline, you also need to mention all the drops on the Colts’ receivers and TEs

2:08 thank god for this guy lol
He has 9 interceptions this season 😂 that’s horrible
@ it’s certainly not good but it’s hardly that notable…
All that AR hate simmering tf down QUICK
They are still sneak hating with the "typical Richardson stat line". Which isnt true at all. His yards per attempt are normally signifanctly higher

Against the Lions, the Colts started 3 rookies on the OL. Against the Pats, started 2 rookie OL and Glow off of the street.
Exactly the receivers drop a lot of passes at very crucial times of the game.

Why not bring up the drops that messes up his completion percentage? Typical

Plus about 5 drops
