The Critical Role cast are very invested in the actual roleplay aspect of DnD. They have each created a character that they intend to play through a developmental arc based on what happens in game. Sometimes that means their character would fall in love, or it could also mean they will do something that the player knows is a very bad idea but is what the character WOULD do, given the information that they have in game. For them story and character exploration are more important than the games equivalent of scoring points. You should check out some of the comparison videos, where they show clips of the Animated and the Live Play for the same story moment in both. You could risk looking up one of them for "The Sun Tree Moment" since you have now seen the animated version, but it is still probably safer to wait till you have finished all available seasons.
Fun Fact, while I will not spoil who it was, one of the player characters from their 3rd campaign actually makes a cameo in this episode

Romance is pretty normal in dnd games, usually peopel decide before a game/campaign if they're ok with it or not (I could never lmao)

as far as the bad luck, its just the luck of the dice bad shit happens. and as far as the romance, they are all super close friends so its not very awkward at all for them. Grog and Vex's Voice Actors are married as are Keyleth and the DM. Always good to welcome in more Critters
Yeah I figured that would be so. Ah I didn’t know that, I guess that makes sense, I just thought it was weird but I was already kinda separating them and the characters since they are basically personified here so I’m definitely interested in how they go with the romance or not.

Vax is, by his own admission, "hard to pin down". And yeah, romancing a fellow PC can be strange unless there is lot of trust and communication at the table.
That ending - it just elevated the stakes of the game and showed what absolute monsters the Briarwoods are.
Always remember, every good AND bad thing that happens, for the most part, is the roll of a dice, literally. Critical Role was playing a game of DnD, there was a whole kick starter to get one episode done, but the Critters (fans) came out in droves and gave over 3 million! Then amazon picked it up and added their money and well... history was made. I'd recommend getting into the campaign, even though it's hundreds of hours long videos, worth it. Though there was some drama in the beginning with campaign one with Orion (aka Tiberius). After like episode what 27 or so it comes to a head and he's kicked out... or was it 30 something?

@@nnofs oh, of course. Just making sure you knew. Btw, as long as they are, the crit. Role episodes are awesome. Camp. One starts in the middle as it was a home game that they started streaming as an experiment. It blew up and now they are probably the most famous online DnD gamers ever. So many awesome moments in and out of game. Like when their first shirts went on sale, immediately went out of stock as everyone rushed to get it. Shocked them hard as it was revealed out of the blue.
