I love watching these videos and learning about the variety of ways you can pull together designs. You can totally change the look of what exists and so make it very unique to you.
I really learn a lot from your Canva tutorials, so thank you! You do things I don't even think about, so it's pretty cool that I now have all these ideas on how to add even more to a product (like the essence of the flower) on the phone case and the name. I like to see things from your designer "eye" if that makes sense. :)
Can you explain further why you use 1600 by 3200 pixels? In order to produce 300 dpi, it must be print 5.33 by 10.667 inch. Is it too much for a phone case?
@@evanmcruz0515 always use as many pixels as you can as it will give you a sharper image and allow flexibility for larger items. All cases have slightly different dimensions so use one that can cover everything and allow for bleed.
@@evanmcruz0515 I downloaded the template from printful and uploaded it onto canva. You really only need it to ensure noting important gets cut out where the cameral hole is. If you use a pattern, it won't matter at all.
One more thing-I used a premade template following along with you on a video recently, but when I uploaded it to Printify it was very low dpi? I didn’t know how to fix it in canva -maybe reupload on another art board canvas 4500x5100? But I uploaded it to kittl and created a new design and done it that way bc I can choose dpi there. What did I do wrong or how do you do that or fix it from beginning? Idk how to know the premade template size in canva? I started out with the size I said too? Any help would be much appreciated!!
This is great, I love it, VERY helpful. Questions about the mockups tho., as far as the next step in creating listings on Etsy. So for phone cases, you have to create & download a mockup for EVERY different phone size? Then on Etsy, you have to upload a mockup for each of the phone case sizes?? That sounds like a lot of work to me. Is that how it's done? Do you have a video on how to create the listing in Etsy?
You only need one mockup to show the design and then the customer can just select the size case they want. Etsy doesn't have enough picture slots to show every phone size.
Thanks so much. Your tutorials are always so good. I have some questions for you if you have time. Do you offer more than one phone size in each listing or just one size per listing? If you offer all sizes available, do you just show one size in the mockups? I'm assuming you can use "iPhone" in your title and tags, correct? Thanks again!
I offer all sizes in one listing. I can only include 10 pictures in an Etsy listing so I just pick the most popular models but the picture is the same for all models. And YES you use iphone in your title etc.
Question - when I look up trademark on USPTO, it has IPhone trademarked. Goods and services listed is phone cases. Does this mean I can’t use IPhone in my tags???
Just an update. Your video is a bit out of date because Printify has changed. There are no clear cases specifically for iPhones as you have shown. Now, You can just take the dimension and create in Canva, then upload your design to the template page and it will automatically reconfigure the design for each phone model. Much easier that way. Technology is becoming easier!
Awesome video … question, if I wanted to make a custom phone case for my sister (using her dog) , at the end can I print out the design at home for her phone case? Thanks
@@janaf.7833 Depends on what kind of printer and paper you have. I use a print company. They print the design on a sticker that essentially goes on the clear case.

Most print companies will list the design size on their product catalog. It may vary between sites like printful, printify, Amazon merch, RedBubble etc.
If you sell on Etsy, for example, you enable the personalization option on the listing. Then when the customer gives you a name, for example, you would go to Canva and put the name on the design and then upload it to printful. You can change the image used on the order to the custom one.
Hey, I'm following through on how to generate the Basic mockup in Printful, but I don't see the same thing you are referring to. Could you possibly have access to a bigger Basic mockup selection because of how established you are? I'm a beginner and when I go through to generate the Basic mockup in Printful, I see Basic and Custom. Then when I click Basic, there's only 4 options that look nothing like what you are have in this video. I'm super confused and want to be able to see the same Basic mockups that you show in this video. Thanks!
Everyone has the same basic mockups available. I simply used a standard phone with the case on mockup then uploaded it to canva, removed the background and added my own background in canva. You can create your own mockups and do a better job than what is available. You just need the phone with the case.
I get confused when they say My design. I thought she was going to paint with her hand. It looks more like she is just copying the photo some else took.
Thanks for the clear, informative videos. One question - is it better/easier to upload a specific phone case template file to canva (from printful or elsewhere) work on that in canva, then send back to printful when complete, or simply create an image of certain size and resolution in canva, then upload that image to printful and then manipulate the image onto the template in printful ?

Hello 👋
Could you please do a mockup tutorial for a 2d phone case
I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I showed how you could create your own mockup in this video.
What printer do you use to add to the phone
I use printful or printify. I also put designs on Amazon Merch and they do their own printing.
