    Great tips for Shopify users, but some of these suggestions would fall foul of Etsy policy - particularly the AI ones.

      Exactly! This 100 % violates Etsys mockup policy.

    What about the product not being specific? Meaning it's a comfort color or it's a Bella canvas etc.

      Hi there! You need to use the most realistic mockup for your item available, otherwise it could cause buyers to lose trust in your store.

    For those with Etsy shops I advise against this video especially for apparel. You risk Etsy shutting your shop down for not using the actual real t- shirt in your mockup.

      100% 👆. I wish that Printify added more mock-ups for apparel so we are guaranteed that they are what they say. It's a crapshoot trusting sellers and know for a fact that AI isn't the actual product.

      I wish Printify added mockup with all real photographed colours and not digital recolours!! Pam (eRank admin) released a video yesterday and she said a higher Etsy customer support person confirmed that we are not allowed to use mockups even if they represent the exact model, we can only use mocks provided by the provider. We need flat lay mockups that looks real!

      Hi Peeps, thank you so much for the comments. While a LOT of our sellers are not using Etsy (and this video was mostly for them), we do of course love our Etsy merchants and we are HARD at work creating more mockups and shooting with more models (particularly POC) so you can have better mockups. We do also have a number of vouchers and promos for you to get some credit and order yourselves a sample so you can take your own amazing mockups - keep your eyes out for those

    I started using canva about a week ago. I’m used to adobe and infinity, started using photoshop in the 90’s, so I always looked at canva as a smaller tool that will do less and do it less well. I’ll be honest, it’s so much fun and it works much better than I expected. It actually has a lot of good tools but it’s weird having everything as separate apps built in instead of on a toolbar. With all it can do I’m surprised I haven’t found a way to adjust layer styles. Kind of a function I can’t live without when it comes to making mock-ups.

    thank you for this since your built in mockups basically suck - all the t-shirt mockups are woke genZ'ers - what a shame that I have to pay over $100 a year to make a few decent mock ups that you won't provide.

      Yes... very confusing. Since Printify must have access to top people at Etsy, hopefully they could get us clear answers and settle this... if it's true we have to use Printify mocks, hopefully Printify could provide additional mockups that more flattering for the designs... I just finished switching all my mocks to Printify mocks, really concerned how customers will react, but hopefully if we have the design they are looking for the mock won't matter that much....

    I'm so confused... I just spent the last couple days deleting all my mockups on Etsy and replacing them with Printify mockups because my understanding is that the Etsy handbook says we can only use mocks from our print provider....I just don't want to get in trouble with Etsy and really wish they'd give us a clear answer... if there is any way that Printify can help with getting us a clear answer, that would be so amazing. Also, if Etsy does require that we only use the mocks from our print providers, if there is any way that Printify could make up some mocks similar to the ones we see sold on Etsy.. using real photos of the real shirts in that sort of "Etsy asthetic" that would help so much. Thank you!!

    • @Printify
      @Printify  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi there! So far as we know their policy is mainly directed towards ai generated mockups. Sellers can still use third party mockups however, as long as they are true representation of the item. To be safe and strive for realistic images we suggest ordering samples to create their own mockups, using Placeit, or modifying mockup templates that come with some of the Early Access products, which can be found on the product listing page.

    • @christina9841
      @christina9841 3 місяці тому +1

      @@Printify Thank you so much for the response! It is confusing because Etsy's seller handbook says we can't. use third party mockups.. but a few months ago, Brand Creators (a youtube channel) got a response from Etsy customer support saying that we could as long as it represents the real shirt and is not AI (as you were saying).. but recently another youtuber, Pam, got a response back from someone high up at Etsy which said we are not allowed to use third party mockups at all, just the ones from our print provider.. which all the suspensions and bans going on, I felt like it was best to delete all my mocks and make them all Printify mocks, just to be safe, but I do worry how this will effect sales... it is very confusing. Thank you so much for the response, I really appreciate it... hopefully Etsy will really make it very clear, very soon, either way.... PS I love your tutorials, they are great. I am going to start a Shopify store soon, too, so I will be able to use these tips there for sure. ❤

    Can you add a feature to Printify to apply a mockup template or templates of our choice to all products of a specific type automatically? This would save us time and let us focus on designing. A few years ago, Printify applied the Xmas tree mockup to all products with one keystroke, so a similar feature for user-defined templates would be great. In the age of AI, this should be a built-in feature in Printify, especially when creating numerous designs.

      Hi there!
      You can download the product mockups provided by Printify from the Product Creator. First, click on Preview in the upper right corner, then click on Download mockup to save the file to your computer.
      Mockups with a white background will be downloaded with the white background intact, not as transparent. For some products, you have the option to apply a custom background before downloading.
      Alternatively, merchants using Etsy and TikTok Shop US can download mockups from the Mockup Library with either a white or transparent background:
      Go to My products and click on the product you want to edit.
      Next, click on Mockup library to access the library.
      Find your desired mockup, filtering by color, size, and type.
      Hover over the mockup and click the Download icon, then select one of the options.

    Wow, with all the confusion around Etsy rules, since I've only been designing in Printify so far and haven't opened a store yet . . . I'm kinda thinking Shopify or Amazon's new program might be better. One thought though: if you're using the Printify mockup image of the mug, etc. and then placing that into a Canva background, it is definitely a valid representation of the Printify product itself--how could it not be, other than perhaps the issue of the scale of the product in relation to the rest of the mockup image. Besides that, I don't see why Etsy would care if the background is "real" or not. Whereas if you generate the mug itself with AI and then put your design on it, that AI generated mug may not exactly resemble what the customer will receive: I can understand why that's problematic. But since it's Etsy's non-human algorithm flagging sellers and not real Etsy people (oh the irony!) maybe there's still some risk with these methods. My head hurts!

      @2Beavers ignore that rubbish advice. It's quality not quantity, market research and good SEO, that count on Etsy. Consistency, yes, but that can include working on your shop pages and policies. You definitely don't need to list every day or throw spaghetti at the wall.
