In Conversation: Darek Mazzone & Eric Hilton of Thievery Corporation

Eric Hilton has done quite a bit in his life. He's become a respected Hotelier, Restauranteur, and legendary club owner in Washington DC. He's also known as the co-founder of the influential band Thievery Corporation. Recently Eric has been releasing solo records under the label Montserrat House. The Music Eric is releasing blends aspects of his experience as an artist and his role in making a scene happen. It's an interesting mix where you blend experience and the unknown and I like the vibe he's putting out. We talked at length about this, the reality of today, and hopes for the future. We're old friends so the conversation was a delight. I'm glad to share it with you.

Feels so good to hear him telling how he goes behind his heroes to create music, I relate so much, because his works inspired mine and feels like an infinite chain where we are all connected. Music is something magic.

Great interview !! In the mid 90's I lived in Soho NY and was a pretty active artist in the NY art world.
Music critic Marc Myers would visit my studio once a month while I painted. We would listen to Miles, Coltrane, Chick Corea etc. One day he brought TC first album and he played it . It was mind blowing so cool ! I became a fan . Great to see Hilton doing well he is one of my favorite artists for sure!!
