Allen? Albert? I don't know enough about that family to understand if you accidentally typed a type of graphical error, or if there are actually two brothers… One named Allen and the other one named Albert. All I know is that around 1982 I walked into a club in Dayton Ohio and heard the most kick ass fucking band of my life - all centered around Albert. I saw the great man at the bar after the first shot was over and cautiously walked up to him and I said I ask you just one quick question. he towered over me, and without even moving or acknowledging my presence he said . "Alreet" I said, "does the lead saxophone player do all of your charts, or do you buy those charts or do you have somebody who stays back home and does all your charts? Slowly he turned towards me and in a voice that felt and sounded like an iron fish inside of velvet glove looked over the top of his gold sunglasses and murmured. "boy I don't know where you went to school but that ain't no motherfucking one question. That's like five or six. You might have to get off your wallet and give me some more money before I go deep into Phil theosophical regions such as you seem to require. just then the bartender came up and looked at me and said you want another drink? I do I said, and here's my credit card from this moment on this gentleman to my left drinks for free on my card all night. he expressed his absolute astonishment by lifting his left eyebrow up and saying, "all reet now." we stood there in complete silence for about five minutes apparently no one else in the club which held about 500 people, seemed to be able to force their way through the invisible protective shield that has somehow been thrown up between he and I and the rest of the world He drank his drink. He chewed his ice. and when there was just like a half a cube left he would hold up the glass and shake it like a little Tinker Bell. The bartender would appear as if by a black hole. And then Albert looked at me, asked me my name, shook my hand and he said, "damn motherfucker you lasted like the whole time you never gave up you never you never suffered you never crushed you never lay down. I've had white boys in tears within 30 seconds begging my forgiveness for simply existing. now listen son cause I don't repeat myself. @@HarrisonProductions Same pickups and the same name. Almost everything else unique to the Reverse FB is different than the "Non": Different body, different headstock, banjo tuners and most importantly different neck construction method: Reverse FBs are unique in that they have "Neck Through" construction. Error #2 - the neck pickup in Collins's Firebirds was actually a Gibson mini-humbucker as found in Les Paul Deluxes or SG Specials from the early 70s. Given the black pickup ring on the Collins guitar, it's likely the latter, as Deluxes came with white pickup rights that were set into the body, not on the surface, like the one on Collins's instrument. The Collins instrument with the gold Firebird Mini (distinct from the standard mini) had its pickup sourced from an Firebird VII - this can be determined by the gold anodized surface on the pickup cover and ring.
Me too - however if you check out the pic of Keith sitting with the bird you can clearly see the maestro pedal and the fender amp next to him so he had all the ingredients at hand - who knows?
Error #1 - Eddie didn't replace the wrapped tailpiece with a period correct one. The vibrola arm on Firebird IIIs is designed to slide off. The bridge on an FB III is already a wrapped-tailpiece style bridge. There was no modifications done in that respect - he simply removed the termination point on the vibrola spring and wrapped the strings around the existing bridge.
