16:20 i feel like this is a technique that should be remembered and could be applied to other projects. When i saw the pillow, i would've just naturally assumed you cut a ton of tiny individual strips, threaded each through, and tied them all in knots when threading was finished. This is brilliant, but also after learning it, so simple and seemingly natural.
Haha thanks! I learned that technique when tying yarn knots on a quilt many years ago. It definitely saves time. So I'm glad you appreciated that part! Thanks for chiming in! :) - Dana
Thank you so much Mrs. Dana for this free pattern. I was able to make a cactus as a gift for someone I know and love that is moving away. It was sort of a housewarming gift. My children loved it so much they requested one of their own so in a matter of 2 days I made three cactus'....lol
Sometimes it helps to have something else to burn instead of your fingers" ...😂❤️ Love it!! I can play this video over and over, just like all her videos!!🌷😝🤪
As kids we had so many wonderful times pillow fights! Another You Tube channel has one like this he uses it as a puppet! It’s so cute. Thank you for sharing this fun project 👍
I know you don't post every day or every week. But I'm new to your channel and I love all of your videos. They remind me of my mom that makes me remember the pure and great side of her. She loved Baking, (she had her own Blogspot with quite a few followers. ) Gardening, ( She was in a club. ) Sowed things from time to time. Gosh she had so many hobbies. I miss her to much, but unfortunately I don't live with her anymore. I know she didn't like sowing that much as I do... but it reminds me of the positive side of life that she raised me to try to have before things got ruined. She just wanted me to be happy and grow up being happy to be a kid that plays outside and has hobbies to motivate me... anyways when I am able to learn how to sow at school in a couple months and I get a sowing machine, I will get the same one as you. It's the best one I've seen so far. You make things a lot easier than some other people in UA-cam would. 🌻🌷 Edit : a little bit about me : By the way I'm only 11 ½ right now and I'll be 12 by the time I get my own sowing machine and iron. I tried baking... didn't go well. It only goes well when we bake with someone older when we're young right? (That makes me sound old. I'm going to be a total mom when I'm 20.) I'm also obsessed with writing. Even though I'm not that good because I haven't taken any classes obviously since I'm a kid... aside from that I don't know all of the words in the English language or how to really be confident in my work. Anyways that's a bit about me. 🌻🌷
This is such a fun project! Another thing that would be fun to do if making it for a kid would be to make a face on the cactus! That would be really cute!
I was just thinking about you and your channel wishing you would upload again! And yay! Do you do other crafts other than sewing? I started knitting last year, and I really love it. I have done some sewing in the past, but nothing fancy, mostly just simple designs.
The reason why clipping may be better than trimming a seam allowance sometimes is because some fabrics fray, and are weak. If so, you need the width of the seam allowance to ensure stitches don't just pop through the edge of the fabric when a seam is under tension.
Dana, would you be able to make a vid on how to adjust/lower necklines, take in jeans waists etc on clothes in our wardrobe? I have a chiffon top that's a singlet with a wrap cowl over top n want to lower the under singlets round neckline, but I'm unsure how to do it properly, a tutorial would be AWESOME 😀😀😀
Dana!!! I have missed your videos SO MUCH 😭😭😭..... thank you SOOOO MUUUUUCHH for your tutorials, you make everything sound so easy and so soooooo cute!!!! I will be making tons of these cactus pillows to give away as xmas presents to all my friends and family... 💐💐 again, thank you!
Awesome! Would you do some DIY macrame and yarn pillows ? Can this be done on a sewing machine? I’m a super beginner and I just found your channel. Thanks , kim
I’ve been looking for a good sewing with bias tape video could you make one please? I’ve looked at the two you have and unfortunately they do not really explain how to sew with it. Also maybe a video or two about some basics and hacks. Thank you
I LOVE this channel! I've been a sub since the very beginning n I'm SO pleased to see you finally have a decent following - you deserve so many more! But one gripe.......More more more lol, I wish you'd do more vids :D
Haha thanks! I wish I did more videos too. They just take a lot of time to put together. Thank you for watching over the years! I appreciate the love and support!! :) Dana
Love love your videos! I watch with my 7 year old daughter. Great project but why cut template right in the middle of the fabric? Fabric is expensive in UK and trying to get her to be more careful thanks
You can definitely do an invisible stitch! I find that it's a bit harder to do...so I wanted to show a simpler one, that is still pretty inconspicuous.
Aaaaaaaaa hahahahahahaha, too funny! So cute, especially the spines, definitely making one or more of these. : ) They gave you a stick?! I didn’t get one in my bag. : ( Thanks for sharing the metal needle threader. We need to keep what little sanity we have.
Am I the only one that thought of using this as a nursing pillow? Like a boppy? I feel like you should shape it like a cactus and it could help hold baby while nursing.
Hi .. My name is Khadija and I am from Saudi Arabia and I am following all the videos of your channel from 4 years Please do the translation so we can understand some words .. 🇸🇦🇸🇦
Beautiful idea, ugly final stitch when closing the pillow. Closing with a blind stitch ins't hard at all and looks so much prettier! When you attach your string a repeat of the same stitch, through the same holes will last so much longer, needs no knot and is saver for children!
I collect cacti but I am obsessed with this soft and warm cactus. Love it .Thank you for the tutorial .
I live in Arizona and am Cactus obsessed... will be making this!!!
One of my friends loves cactuses and it will be a great christmas gift for her. THANK YOU FOR THE IDEA!!!
I love your energy, kindness & patience in your videos! You're awesome

Some fabrics work better this way, some the other. It's good to have multiple options at our disposal. Have fun sewing! 😊
Awwwww! How cute is that! I love it! I really enjoy watching your videos. Super Great!

I wish that were my sewing room.... :)
I love this
Hi I was just wondering why you chose that Stitch to close the pillow hole and not an invisible stitch?
You can definitely do an invisible stitch! I find that it's a bit harder to do...so I wanted to show a simpler one, that is still pretty inconspicuous.
Teach us how to make a jean jacket
