I bought 4 chickens from costco last week and we have 10 bags of diced rotisserie chicken in the freezer right now, and I think they will work just as well as the canned chicken. I'm definitely making that sweet potato thing. The lemon chicken looks so yummy but my autistic son and dil don't eat salad, so I might add some finely chopped onion and zucchini to it.
I buy rotisserie chickens and bag them up like this too. It is so handy to have cooked chicken ready when needed. I add it to all sorts of things like white chicken chili. I also make chicken broth out of those chickens.
Yes, I buy Costco chicken and do the same thing, it's fairly inexpensive and tastes good and so convenient for chicken recipes. I love it.
Thats a good idea. You can't beat a cooked Rotisserie Chicken. I think it will work just fine in Julia's recipes!!!... 🦋
Yup I buy a couple rotisseries at BJs for us all, dogs eat too! 😝
@tiffanyb4764 yep, me too. Then I reduce the stock right down, put it in the fridge to set, then scrape of the chicken fat and save that in a mini freezer bag, then put the stock in mini freezer bags.
Canned chicken is one of those things I tend to pick up "just in case," but never know what to do with! Thank you!

Love the recipes. I keep canned chicken in my pantry. I usually make chicken salad with red and green grapes, chopped celery with miracle whip, Dijon mustard, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, pepper and salt. A little squeeze of lemon juice. Sometimes chopped apples.

Great recipes! Thanks. One thing about baked casseroles (and I make them often) for me is- that I cover it while baking. I cannot stand a dried out/hard noodle on the top. I might give the panko topping 5 mins uncovered to slightly crisp it, but no more than that. Just a preference for moist casseroles, I guess.🤷🏼
For toasted Panko, add a little butter to your skillet first and let it melt before you add the panko, you pretty much just stir the melted butter into the panko and it has that golden brown look in no time! I will take and, put this on top of even mac and, cheese from time to time.
@@sonyafox3271Thank you sonya. 👍🏻 Another topping I like for casseroles especially tuna, chicken, or ham is a good layer of parmesan cheese (from the plastic container) then paprika for color. As a new cook- ages ago- I found this tip in a Hints from Heloise book.
It's still my favorite, rather than crushed potato chips.

Hi Julie. 👋 I am in the process of putting together a Chicken White Northern Beans Chili. I ran out of chicken that the recipe called for. I remembered this video where you use canned chicken. Your recipes are gold… that chicken casserole with crunchy topping will definitely be my go-to but the lemon pasta and all of these ideas will be what I’m making for dinners, work lunches & meal prep! Thank you so much! These meals stretch so far so that they end up costing so little per serving especially when ordering out for lunch is just breaking my budget. This is healthier bc I control ingredients and salt!!

Canned chicken is a bit pricey where I am so I like to buy chicken breasts on sale and cook, shred, and then freeze it to have on hand!
I prefer fresh cooked chicken shredded up. Canned chicken isn't horrible, but I can do without the metallic taste.

I just made a chicken casserole from Kirkland canned chicken! Last of the leftovers still in the fridge :) I followed a tuna casserole recipe that was in my memory. The problem was the proportions were wrong So I had to add in more cream of mushroom soup 😂😂😂 So glad to have your tried and tested recipes to use now!!!

Never seen ground chicken in a can in our UK food stores.I must look out for it.🥰👍
It isn't ground chicken, it is chunk chicken breast.
It does exist in most UK supermarkets but for the amount in a tin works out more expensive than raw chicken. Very convenient though 😊
