Hmm. I've heard from multiple people that they're having issues with the Steam version of the game. Personally I don't really understand why, as other people have also said it worked for them. But do keep in mind that even with this patch, the game WILL still occasionally crash. Another possiblity for which the game crashes, especially if it crashes in a very specific moment or area every time, is due to some mods causing it to do that. I don't know if you're using any mods, and if so which, but you can try disabling most of your mods to try to see if the crash stops happening in that spot. And then re-enable them one by one to see which one was the culprit. I can tell you that some mods that caused extra crashes for me were: spider replacement mod (the ones that turn spiders into deepstalkers or other animals) - so now I use the spider to rock replacement since that one is stable, no helmet hack, and possibly auto looting mods though I'm not 100% sure. The best thing I can recommend is to get the game on GOG since it seems the most stable on there, and it should be relatively cheap.

Should work for the ultimate edition, yes. The thing with the missing files may happen for the Steam version, I think - it's worth googling "dragon age origins steam missing files" and if you don't find an answer on the Steam discussions then look on Reddit for some posts about it. The steam version is weird because sometimes it has issues with these missing files and other times it doesn't 🤔 if you can afford to do so, I highly recommend the GOG or EA App versions of DAO!
I am having the worst time with this it is driving me insane, I am trying to instal the patch however I do not see an exe doa anywhere in my bin foldler. just config, updater and regular DAorigins. @@aliciafeed2304 DAOrigins is the exe file, you probably just don't have file extensions visible! For the Steam version you first need to replace the DAOrigins file you have with the one from NexusMods that is unencrypted so that you can apply the patch to it. I believe there should also be a pre-patched version of DAOrigins somewhere online, but I'm not 100% certain where. Once you have replaced the original DAOrigins with the one from NexusMods, apply the patch to it like I said in the video. Then you should be able to right click DAOrigins (or drag it towards the desktop) and create a shortcut on the desktop. After it's created, you can right click it and go into properties to set up run in compatibility mode for Windows 7 and run as administrator. However, unfortunately I have heard from some people that they are unable to make the Steam version of the game work at all, even if they tried many different fixes. I don't know why that is. I've had this really odd bug were the game just crashes anytime I start it up, it doesn't even load the main menu. I tried the game on both the EA app and on GOG, same problem. Its odd since I had been playing the game on EA for many hours, then suddenly it decided to just stop working. I tried everything, completely uninstalling all mods, the whole game, even the EA app. Nothing worked. Eventually I discovered that the game only ran when I selected 'disable audio' in the configuration.exe. Of cource, that was no way to play it either. After troubleshooting for days and nothing working, not even updating or downgrading drivers etc., I finally got it fixed! Turns out, when I downloaded the unencrypted DA: Origins.exe from the steam forums, the game suddenly ran without problems. It's strange however, since I do not have the game on steam...
