I'd honestly have to say this was my personal favorite day of the challenge. Your playing is so even and beautiful, even in ridiculous extremes, and I really strive to sound like you one day.
In isolation it’s a good question; this was towards the end of what I expected to be a 100-day practice challenge, and I was just trying something fun. It was a mini 5-day challenge, where I started on Day 95 with not having practiced it to see where I got after 5 days, and this recording was after having practiced it on that fifth day. Nothing more than just having a good time :)
Sometimes in going extremely low, I will eliminate the tongue altogether. Given that it’s a valve to help release the air, especially under compression, with the volume needed in the deep pedal register, it’s not always necessary. Judicious use really helps! And some creative thinking, since what matters more than how you get to the final product is the final product itself!
Just my regular bass trombone, an Edwards B502(i). I have the tuning for the Gb valve set fairly high, which makes the positions a bit lower than the more traditional Gb valve.

ur tone is literally so good even in the lower extremes!!
Sheesh. Ridiculous playing! Great job.
Sounds great! I'm curious, why the bass trombone part an octave down instead of the similar tuba part? To avoid learning the 'wrong part'?

Are you playing it down an octave?
Exactly - just for fun! This was day 5 of my mini 5-day Fountains 8vb challenge…
@@markeybone That’s awesome, it seems like an effective way to practice pedal notes
