Hello students,
As you will find from my video, today’s topic is how many volumes or exercises need to be done from Sir Kailash Chandra magazine.
In fact I keep on getting lot of queries on this topic from the aspirants from time to time who need to do this magazine after completing their theory In shorthand.
Some want to know as to how many volumes need to be done out of __ volumes and some want to know the particular exercise to be done. I recently got a query from a viewer asking from me as to how to finish this magazine and then I thought, let me prepare a video on this.
AS we know this magazine contains the debates/speeches made in the Parliament whether Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha and that is the reason we get words like Speaker, Dy Speaker, Charman and Dy. Chairman. The language contained in this passages is reasonable and not very difficult.
As we know in terms of difficulty level, it is the least or the easy one and then comes the progressive magazine, legal matters, speeches of the PM or President, news editorials, etc. That’s the reason why it is suggested to do this magazine after completing theory in shorthand.
This magazine has 24 volumes and 528 exercises and 22 exercises as an average. Apart from dictation material it has certain important topics/material in the beginning and at the end.
If somebody wants to do all the exercises of this magazine, it would required him one and a half year if he does one exercise in a day.
Let us also now understand the relevancy of this magazine in the present day in addition to it being easy in terms of difficulty level as we have seen and discussed earlier. Second, and the other important point is that in the past for decades together this was the only shorthand magazine available and that is why in all the exams dictations were given from this magazine only. Since it was prevailing too much in all the skills, so students used to cover this magazine as much as possible so that they can clear their skill exam. So I would say that covering this magazine became a syllabus and a requirement for every student.
If we see and evaluate the scenario today, the standards have changed and the dictations are mostly of general matters or from speeches or sometime mixed material of different nature and hardly from Sir KC magazine - so doing the entire magazine of Sir KC is neither the syllabus nor the requirement.
But we must do this magazine till we acquire good accuracy in the debates/speeches in this (let us say around 2-3%) and then shift to progressive magazine and other material. I repeat here that this magazine needs to be done after theory no doubt about it but limited to the student acquiring good accuracy in this and then shift to next difficulty level.
This is what I wanted to share today in this video and I hope it will be useful for the aspirants.

Dear - it very much depends on the competency and preparedness of the candidate and the method/tutor chosen - if both are aligned it can take 6 months.

My steno is little weak beause I left it for cbt.
I would suggest you to think positive and divide your time in CBT and skill - you can give more time to skill to avail the opportunity - there is no need to be confused and go on doing both the things in the manner required from time to time.

Sir, when I take first dictation(kc) , the mistake is 10%.after second repeat dictation it is 3 - 4% . And prograsive magazine first time 15% second time 3-5% .what should I do?

Dear - the transcription is useful if done of an unseen passage and the first one needs to be taken into account - no need to repeat that - please work on your mistakes and bring down to 3-4% - since the progressive difficult, do it at 5-10 wpm less than KC matter - ua-cam.com/video/V-LzstoUe6U/v-deo.html
