That is a nice little collection. Robert Klaas was the founder of Kissing Crane Knives Of Solingen, Germany. They were one of the premier brands in the world, just behind Hen & Rooster, for many years. Kissing Crane was bought out through a hostile takeover about 10 years ago, and Robert Klaas formed another company. They started making knives in Italy and then China. As far as the made in China tang stamps we see on RR and other brands, is because all products made for the U.S. market are required to list the country of origin, be they knives or shoes or autombiles. When purchased from elsewhere, this is not the case. Other countries may or may not have these laws. If you see a knife with a Solingen, GR tang stamp, that means that knife was made completely in Solingen, per German law. Sorry to bend your ear, (or eye !) . Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos.
I went to the Robert Klaas web site (robert-klaas.de) and see that they are making knives and tools in Solingen. Very high quality. They may be making these knives in the Bertram Cutlery factory which also produces Solingen Hen & Rooster Knives. Hen & Rooster is owned by the great Jim Frost of Frost Cutlery.
Cool, I’ll have to check that out. The Klaas knives I have are all made in China. They had a made in China sticker and no mention of Solingen. Great fit and finish nonetheless 👍. Thanks again James! 👍🤙
@@theedcden5515 You are quite welcome! I just now learned that Jim Frost passed away today. He was a hero to me. He was instramental in the start of SMKW with
He was instramental in the start of SMKW along with founders Mr. Kevin Pipes and industry ICON Mr. Jim Parker, one time owner of Case Cutlery. Mr. Frost was a man of humble beginnings who began his cutlery career sellings knives from his lunchbox at the factory. He'll be missed by many. R.I.P.
I just got the RK Autumn Bone Trapper (my 1st RK knife). Excellent fit & finish, sharp 440a Stainless blades & beautiful handles! I love it & I really like the unique spay blade....I highly recommend them!
Loving the RR reserve line. Not available through Hero yet. I’m not sure but Klaas might be available through Hero. My Two RR canoes should be delivered today. Yay. So this morning I have a nice 2.5 hour motorcycle ride from Lancaster to my place. Excellent weather for a ride then check the mailbox for the knives. Yay. Another great vid. Please show me the way out of this rabbit hole lol. Enjoy your day buddy.
The pulls and nail nicks look so clean compared to matchstrike pulls. Nice variety in covers. I’m very cheap, but maybe I could spend a little more than RRs and try some Klaas knives.
Hey, nice little collection you got going there. I have one coming in that is part of a deal I made with a mutual friend, It's a Robert Klaas Whittler. Maybe I can do a quick video on it before I send it to him :)
