The video is 3 years old and amazing. Got discouraged after an hour of dying, and after seeing you teach the trick about axes/picks being used to farm different mats. I knew this video series was the best to learn the game. I was legit punching trees because I kept getting too much wood with the axe. Great info, great guide.

Get yourself Dododex. U NEED IT. The more u read about dododex, the better. Read tips on all the creatures. Do research on the resources and gather efficiency. Check out spawn locations for resources and dinosaurs.
Heres what i did. Level up at first while gathering resources. Build trap. Aggro a trike n lead it into the trap. Use trike for berry gathering. Get metal gear. Get a pteranodon ( bola, tranq, or use club, slingshot, fists ). Go to redwoods, careful with stamina. Watch out for thylacoleos. Make trap, trap argentavis. Tame argentavis. Oh and tame a baryonyx/sarco as well. Both are easy tames. They are good mid tier battle mounts imo. Semi aquatic too. And go on to tame ankies and doediciruses. One is good for gathering metal, the other stone. Etc. This is just a start. Metal gear are defo worth it. Armor to weapon to hatchet and pickaxe.
how do you make your dino defend itself I lost mine to a small dino
First time playing I did single player to get a crash course and learn the hard way. I managed to survive two days before getting a bed. I had a hard time exploring because I was surrounded on almost all sides by high level predators. Was doing pretty well and managed to get a 3x5 thatch shelter. Until that giant turtle thing hid behind a tree I was chopping and killed me then broke all my stuff. Tried again I managed to rebuild and glitch the turtle into a rock.
But I died when I also glitched into a nearby tree while celebrating. The irony was not lost on me so I called a defeat and left to look up some guides.
That was yesterday.
I'm in a single player server to I had the same problem, it was a good and bad thing i found a Tek parasaur so I knocked it unconscious, I used the stuff but it took ages so I went farming I accidentally hit a turtle and all the turtles charged at me, fortunately before I died I tamed the Tek parasaur and it killed the turtles, but I was too greedy and went looking for more, it wasn't enough in my mind AND I FOUND ANOTHER TEK PARASAUR, I knocked it out tamed it and when I was head across the base I spotted a Megalodon, only one of my teks crossed, I saw another one but I couldn't go get it there was a Megalodon,
finally a video in depth on how to get started without a lot of trailing off into ranting plus has a bit of comedy....u sir just got another subscriber.

I started the game, ran around for 10 minutes not knowing what to do. Then just randomly dropped dead.

Today is my first day of playing... here is the story
I joined a pve server and asked for help for help with some stuff like crafting. I had a 1 by 1 wood hut. I died trying to get a sleeping bag. Then there was a server goal to find me :). Someone did and gave me a bed and a foundation to set a spawn. He also gave me some bow, some pickaxe, and access to his base so I don’t die overnight. He was nice.
Btw I died well over 8 times while people were searching for me

You must have found a good server.
Server I went to the entire map was covered in pillars so that you couldn't build anything anywhere, and when it was brought up I was told to leave the server.

Tip: make sure you make an extra version of everything important and place it in you chest so if you die you get all your items again without much work.

I'm fairly new to Ark I tried it once a few years back but couldn't get past the weather issues I've been binge watching a tone of tubers on Ark and so far your the most clear and helpful one! I'm on PS4 but it works the same

I created a new survivor, and spawned at an easy location and right next to me was a Spino. You know the outcome. Man, love this game.

I had that same issue. It’s because the servers are on maps you don’t have. There are a few maps you can get for free on epic though.

You don't need to click on something before hitting "T" to transfer. You can just hover over it.

I'm so glad I found your video! I've been meaning to play Ark for years, and finally jumped on a server last night. Long story short, I had NO IDEA what the hell I was doing, (had a glance at the control guide, but still couldn't remember) panicked in the dark next to a river, and then gotten taken out by a Dilophosaurus within 3 minutes. I promptly logged off and decided to search for beginners guides. Thanks so much! Haha :)

6 years later i have 2600 hours in game got 3 friends to buy it because ascended why to over spec for our pc now I'm sending these vids on our group so the new beach bob can learn the way of ark without me pulling my hair out trying to explain everything over chat and its a blast to see new bobs run away from everything lol thanks cheese best guide out there

I just got Ark last night and have played around with friends a bit but they just started building like mad and I’m lost because I have no idea where to start lmao. Thank god for videos like these!
I just downloaded this for free with Xbox Game Pass because my friend wondered if I had the game. I used to watch a modded version, but now I need to figure out the basics of the main game.
It's a super fun game
I got ark and it wasn’t fun then I learned I could change the difficulty AND play split screen with my brother and now it’s like the funnest game I have
Yeah it’s a fun game solo but it’s even more fun with other people
RoyaleWithCheese yea but the biggest problem I face is spawning in, getting some ok gear, then being slaughtered by a bird that’s level 150 or a pack of Tiny raptors that are level 80 and kill me instantly
You have to get a small base and bed made so that if you die you can get your stuff back, and then don’t go too far from your base until you get better dinos and gear so you can stay alive
You could try and make a raft to go to herbivore island, over there nothing hunts you. Only do this on single player but if you just started you should be playing single player anyways and don’t only live on herbivore island but use it as a starting base before you become very skilled at the game and then you can change base location. Also herbivore island is very resource rich being you can find like 5 metal nodes there and lots of the herbivores there drop prime meat. Just remember that nothing there will attack you without reason but if you attack them they will retaliate being how there are brontosaurus,trikes,and stegos who are the main dinos that will attack you if provoked but just know that if you don’t attack them, they won’t attack you. I hope this helps.

i just started and tamed a lvl 3 Parasaur but my innocent Parasaur got killed by a lvl 114 Raptor so i decided to watch a tutorial and im here lol

Download dododex on mobile. You will need it for a lot of things. And very important tips regarding dinos.
Assume you have the game already and know how to join a game skip to 6:50 for the real tutorial.

Ark is pretty easy if u rly think about it
1. punch wood and get stone
2. craft pickaxe
3. Get more stone and wood
4. craft axe and lots of spear
5. hunt dodos and get hide
6. make cloths and collect berries
7. get piles of stone and wood
8. craft campfire, furnace, Smith I think
9. build a lil base and put down the campfire and stuff
10. cook the meat from dodos
11. go out and maybe get a lystro(the lil boi)
12. take back home and go back searching
13. Find metal and harvest it
14. Cook metal and craft metal axe, pickaxe, pike
15. go back and get more metal
16. make a crossbow and get narco berries, and spoil meat(kill more dodos)
17. Make narco arrows, and bola
18. Get a trike(30 lvl or so)and harvest more berries
19. look for a good lvl raptor and bola it and tame
20. Use raptor to dominate the land for the while and get more meat and hide
21. Make a chest for meat to make a spoil meat farm
22. Get a feeding bin and put berries and meat and make sure the trike and raptor is getting fed
23. Use the meat chest spoiled meat to make more narco arrows
24. Go out and get metal cook it and make a long rifle and bullets
25. Leave the bullets for later when u craft darts
26. Make darts when ur ready
27. Go out and maybe if u want tame a better trike or raptor maybe both
28. Never attempt to tame a therizeno even if u think your ready(trust me)
29. Just tame Dino’s like good lvl pterodactyl and idk what your satisfied with
30. Enjoy life make beef and search the lands with you pterodactyl for unicorn
31. You can also travel and know where is where
32. Once u find the unicorn stalk it until you are happy with how much unicorn poop u got
33. You should have at least 30 unicorn poop and beer
34. Enjoy life getting drunk and high

If you follow this beginner series you’ll end up going so far in the game. I’ve finished the series and now I’m able to go into caves and battle bosses

@@thatoneotherguy3126 haha that’s okay bro no problem. I still refer back to these all the time! The specific creatures he mentions in each series with almost boost your growth in game. I think getting a flyer is priority especially one that can carry and pick up other dinos to bring back to your base. I think for now focus on building a solid base out of wood if on solo server. Wood is durable and stone is more for show because no dino can destroy it too easily. By that point you should have a fair few dinos to protect you anyway.
My own tip is to tame 4 trikes and have them walk with you for protection early game.

Tbh dodos are easy to kill when you try to tame them...
Hit them with your fist or taking weapons that's all I know
Passive tame put berries in last slot of inventory, walk up to one feed it, wait and feed again when it's hungry
i know this series came out four years ago, but 2 years ago i had no clue what to do, and then i just couldnt find this series, i can finally finish it after all this time
after years of waiting to play this with my friend (hardware was way too old for ark), i can say this is very useful
